The Foreign Ministry has urged Japanese lawmakers not to visit South Korea’s Ulleung Island saying such a visit would not help the two nations improve bilateral relations.

A group of lawmakers of Japan’s opposition Liberal Democratic Party recently announced that next month they will travel to the island located near South Korea's Dokdo islets in the East Sea.

Ministry spokesman Cho Byung-jae on Tuesday told a news briefing that the government will consider all possible options on how to deal with the lawmakers’ visit.

The government has been considering ways to block their travel including disapproving the lease of a helicopter.
