Samsung ordered to compensate local designer for copyright infringement

Güney Kore'nin elektronik devi Samsung Electronics Co., yerel bir tasarimcinin buzdolabi modellerinde kullanilan çiçek desenli kreasyonun yasa disi kullanimiyla ilgili mahkeme kayitlarini gösterdi.

Seoul Bati Bölgesi Mahkemesi, yakin geçmiste Hongik Üniversitesi'nde master yapan Lee Jong-gil'in telif haklarini ihlal ettigi gerekçesiyle elektronik sirketinin 30 milyon won (27,200 US $) tazminat ödemesine karar verdi.

Samsung Electronics Co., South Korea's electronics giant, has been ordered to compensate a local designer for illegally using the designer's flower pattern creation on its refrigerator models, court records showed Saturday.

The Seoul Western District Court recently delivered the order for the electronics maker to pay 30 million won (US$27,200) in compensation to Lee Jong-gil, a graduate student at Hongik University, for infringing Lee's copyright.

EU Examining Whether Samsung Abused Patent Rights of Apple

The European Union (EU) is investigating whether Samsung Electronics misused its mobile communication patent rights against Apple.

The European Commission said Saturday that it requested Samsung Electronics and Apple to provide information on their patents in order to conclude whether Samsung violated regulations against Apple.

Güney Koreli bir arastirma ekibi, dünyada ilk kez deniz sakayigindan ipek üretmeyi basardi.

Pohang Bilim ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi Kimya Mühendisligi bölümünden Profesör Cha Hyeong-jun'un basinda bulundugu ekip, deniz sakayiklarinin protein genlerini yeniden dizayn ederek elde edilen ipek proteini ile basarili bir sekilde ipek kumas üretildigini belirtti.

Böylece ekip, dünyada ilk kez bir deniz canlisindan ipek üretmeyi basarmis oldu.

Üniersite arastirma ekibi, deniz sakayigi proteininin esneklik ve dayaniklilik bakimindan çok mükemmel oldugunu belirtti. Ayrica, bu maddenin degiskenliginin canli ve doku mühendisligi ile iyilestirici maddelerde de kullanilabilecegini söyledi.

Sea Anemone Silk Produced for First Time by S. Korean Research Team

A South Korean research team has succeeded in producing silk from sea anemones for the first time in the world.

The team led by Professor Cha Hyeong-jun of the chemical engineering department at Pohang University of Science and Technology said it successfully produced the silk fabric using silk protein that was created by redesigning the protein genes of sea anemones.

The team’s success marks the first time that silk has been produced by a maritime creature.

The university team said sea anemone protein is superb in elasticity and strength. It added it hopes the substance's versatility will lead to its use in bio and tissue engineering and in therapeutic agents or bulletproof materials.

Hundreds of young game fans in Busan queued for South Korea's largest game trade show that kicked off on Thursday, featuring a variety of online, video, arcade, mobile, console and board games.

From the wee hours of the morning, young game fans, mostly male, formed a long queue before the ticket booth to enter the four-day G-Star show that opened at Bexco convention center in this southeastern port city, bringing together a record 374 firms from 28 countries.

Sirket sözcüsü, geçtigimiz ay SK Telekom ile LG Uplus sirketi üzerinden piyasaya sürülen Optimus LTE akilli telefonun, en çabuk satilan LG akilli telefonu oldugunu söyledi.

LG says more than 150,000 LTE smartphones activated

LG Electronics Inc., the world's third-biggest handset maker, said Tuesday that more than 150,000 units of long-term evolution (LTE) smartphones were activated in South Korea in little over one month.

The Optimus LTE smartphone, which was released via SK Telecom Co. and LG Uplus Corp. last month, became the fastest selling LG smartphone, a company spokesman said.

Güney Kore devlet atom laboratuvari persembe günü, tek seferde 80 milimetre nüfuz edebilen ve dünya çapinda tersaneler ve nükleer reaktör kuruculari tarafindan kullanilabilecek tahribatsiz bir test cihazi gelistirdiklerini açikladi.

Kore Atom Enerjisi Arastirma Enstitüsü(KAERI) 'Rezidüel basinç araci (RSI), simdiye kadarki en iyi performansa sahip olmasiyla övünen Britanya'nin yaptigi ISIS makinesiyle karsilastirildiginda 20 milimetre daha fazla nüfuz kabiliyetine sahip.' dedi.

South Korea's state-run atomic laboratory said Thursday it has developed a nondestructive tester for steel that can penetrate a record 80 millimeters and could be used by shipyards and nuclear reactor builders around the world.

The residual stress instrument (RSI) has 20 millimeters more in penetrating capability compared to the ISIS machine made Britain that has been lauded as having the best performance so far, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) said.
