Gov't, Ruling Party Officials to Discuss Budget, FTA

Hükümet ve Iktidar Partisi Yetkilileri, Bütçe ve STA'ni Görüsecek

Hükümet, baskanlik ofisi ve yönetimdeki Büyük Ulusal Parti yetkilileri, gelecek yilin bütçesini ve baska konulari da görüsmek üzere pazartesi günü bir toplanti düzenleyecekler.

Basbakan Kim Hwang-sik, devlet baskanligi personel sefi Ha Geum-yeol ve BUP grup baskani Hwang Woo-yea, Ulusal Meclisteki toplantiya katilacaklar.

Toplantinin gündemi, Çinlilerin Kore sularinda yasa disi avlanmalarini önleme metodlarinin yani sira Kore-ABD serbest ticaret anlasmasi için ek önlemler de içeriyor.

Büyük Ulusal Parti, 2012 bütçesinde toplumsal refah için yaklasik 3 trilyon won ek bütçe ayrilmasini istiyor. Ancak hükümet ve baskanlik ofisi, ekonomik istikrarsizliktan bahsederek bütçede büyük bir artis yapilmasinda isteksiz olduklarini ifade ettiler.

Officials from the government, presidential office and the ruling Grand National Party (GNP) will hold a meeting on Monday to discuss next year's budget and other issues.

Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik, Presidential Chief of Staff Ha Geum-yeol and GNP Floor Leader Hwang Woo-yea will attend the meeting at the National Assembly.

The meeting's agenda also includes follow-up measures for the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement as well as methods to prevent illegal Chinese fishing in South Korean waters.

The GNP has been pushing for an addition of roughly three trillion won for public welfare in the 2012 budget. However, the government and presidential office have expressed reluctance toward the sharp increase of the budget, citing problems of fiscal stability.

Condolence Delegation Heads to N. Korea

Taziye Delegeleri Kuzey Kore'ye Gitti

Eski first lady Lee Hee-ho ve Hyundai Grup Baskani Hyun Jeong-eun, Kuzey Kore lideri Kim Jong-il'in ölümünün ardindan iki günlük bir taziye ziyareti için pazartesi günü Kuzey Kore'ye dogru yola çiktilar.

Lee, ziyaretinin iki Kore arasindaki iliskiyi gelistirmeye yardimci olacagina dair umudunu dile getirdi. Sözleri, Dorasan Gümrük, Göç ve Karantina'da gazetecilerle konusan Kim Dae-jung Baris Merkezi Genel Sekreteri Yun Cheol-gu tarafindan iletildi.

Yun, Lee'nin agustos 2009'da kocasi öldügünde, ölen Kim'in Seoul'e taziye için bir heyet gönderdigini söyledigini de iletti.

Taziye heyeti, 8.30 sularinda Gyeongui Kore devletleri arasindaki geçis ofisi yoluyla Askeri Sinir çizgisini geçti ve sinir sehri Gaeseong üzerinden baskent Pyongyang'a gitmesi bekleniyor.

Delegeler, Pyongyang'a vardiktan sonra Kuzey Koreli yetkililerle ögle yemegi yiyecekler. Ancak, bu yetkililerin kim oldugu ve nerede yemek yiyecekleri bilinmiyor.

18 üyelik heyetin 15'i eski first lady'nin grubu ve 5'i de Hyundai baskaninin grubundan olusturuyor. Güney Kore hükümeti yetkilileri ve politikacilari bu heyetin bir parçasi degil.

Former First Lady Lee Hee-ho and Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun left for North Korea on Monday for a two-day condolence trip following the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

Lee expressed hope Monday that her trip will help improve inter-Korean relations. Her remarks were delivered by the secretary-general of the Kim Dae-jung Peace Center, Yun Cheol-gu, who spoke with reporters at the Dorasan Customs, Immigration & Quarantine (CIQ).

Yun also quoted Lee as saying that the late Kim sent envoys to Seoul to pay respects when her husband Kim Dae-jung died in August 2009.

The condolence delegation passed the Military Demarcation Line through the Gyeongui Highway inter-Korean transit office around 8:30 a.m. and is expected to head to capital Pyongyang via the border city of Gaeseong.

After arriving in Pyongyang, the delegates will have lunch with North Korean officials. However, it is not known who the officials are or where they will be meeting for lunch.

The 18-member delegation consists of 13 people from the former first lady’s camp and five from the Hyundai chairwoman's side. South Korean government officials and politicians are not part of the delegation.

The group will leave Pyongyang Tuesday morning and arrive in Seoul by the afternoon.

Iktidar partisi Büyük Ulusal Parti olaganüstü parti baskanligini topladi ve parti yönetimindeki reformlari tartisti.

Sali günkü olaganüstü baskanlik komitesinin açilis toplantisinda, parti BUP vekili Choi Kusik'in yardimcisinin Ekim ayinda National Election Commision (Ulusal Seçim Komisyonu)'nun resmi sitesine yapilan siber saldirilarla ilgisi oldugu düsünüldügü için tutuklanmasi üzerine, vekile partiden ayrilmasi için salik verilmesi kararini aldi. Parti ayrica davanin adli arastirma sonucunu yeniden incelemek için olaganüstü baskanligin altinda bir komite kurmaya karar verdiler.

The ruling Grand National Party (GNP) has launched the party’s emergency leadership and discussed the direction of party reforms.

In the emergency leadership committee's inaugural meeting on Tuesday, the party decided to advise GNP Representative Choi Ku-sik to leave the party as his aide was arrested on charges related to election day cyber attacks on the National Election Commission’s Web site in October. The party also decided to set up a committee under the emergency leadership to review the results of the prosecution’s investigation into the case.

Assembly Speaker Stresses Harmony in Family, Society, Nation

National Assembly Speaker Park Hee-tae has stressed in his New Year’s message that there is a need for harmony within the family, the different social classes, and the nation in order to lay the foundation for great change in the country.

The speaker also pledged to fulfill his duties faithfully until the end in order to contribute to social unity.

Park stressed that despite the continued global economic crisis and rising uncertainties on the Korean Peninsula, there is no crisis that unified people cannot overcome.

He also urged the nation to continue its march towards growth, noting that South Korea won the bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics after two failures and achieved the one trillion U.S. dollar mark in trade volume.

Lee to Deliver New Year's Address

Lee, Yeni Yil Konusmasini Yapacak

Devlet Baskani Lee Myung-bak, pazartesi günü Baskanlik Ofisinde Yeni Yil konusmasini yapacak.

Baskanlik sözcüsü Park Jeong-ha çarsamba günü, 20 dakikalik konusmanin, Kuzey Kore lideri Kim Jong-il'in ölümünün ardindan yakin zamandaki gelismeleri yansitacak olan iki Kore arasindaki iliskinin ve hükümetin Kuzey Kore politikasinin anahatlarini olusturacagini söyledi.

Park, devlet baskaninin ekonomik krizinin üstesinden gelmek, fiyatlari sabitlestirmek, yeni isler olusturmak ve düsük gelirli aileleri desteklemek için alinacak önlemler gibi ekonomik meselelere de deginecegini söyledi.

President Lee Myung-bak will deliver a New Year’s address on Monday at the presidential office.

Presidential spokesman Park Jeong-ha on Wednesday said that the 20-minute speech will outline the government’s policies on North Korea and inter-Korean relations, which reflect recent developments following the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

Park said the president will also touch on economic issues, including measures to overcome the economic crisis, stabilize prices, create jobs and support low-income households.

KBS 1TV will broadcast the New Year’s speech live.

Gov't Increases Quota for Foreign Workers for 2012

Hükümet, 2012 Için Yabanci Isçi Kotasini Artirdi

Hükümet, gelecek yilin yabanci isçi kotasini %19 oraninda artirarak 57 bin isçiye yükseltti.

Yabanci isçilerden sorumlu politika komitesi persembe günü, Basbakanlik Ofisi bakani Yim Jong-young'in baskanliginda bir toplanti düzenleyerek yillik kotayi 2012 için bu yildan 9 bin fazla olacak sekilde, 57 binde kararlastirdi.

Komite bu rakami, süresi dolan vizeleri yüzünden gelecek yil ülkeden ayrilmasi beklenen isçi izin sistemine bagli yaklasik 67 bin göçmen isçiyi hesaba katarak düzenledi.

Bu izinlerin 11 bini su an ülkede kalan becerikli, çaliskan yabancilara verilecek ve böylece izin süresince çalistiktan sonra ana vatanlarina geri döndüklerinde Güney Kore'ye kolayca tekrar giris yapabilecekler.

Komite, Güney Kore'deki etnik Koreli çalisanlar için kotayi 303 binde tuttu.

The government has decided to increase next year’s quota for foreign workers by 19 percent to 57-thousand foreign workers.

A policy committee on foreign workers on Thursday held a meeting chaired by Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office Yim Jong-young and set the annual quota at 57-thousand in 2012, up nine thousand from this year.

The committee set its mark considering that roughly 67-thousand migrant workers under the employment permit system are expected to leave the country next year due to expiring visas.

Eleven thousand of the permits to be issued will be allotted to skilled, hard-working foreigners who are currently staying in the nation so they can swiftly re-enter South Korea once they return to their home country after working for the permitted period of time.

The committee kept its quota for ethnic Korean workers in South Korea next unchanged at 303-thousand.
