S. Korean Troops Awarded U.N. Medals for Service in South Sudan

G. Kore Askerleri Güney Sudan'da BM Hizmet Madalyası Aldı

Güney Sudan'da hizmet veren Güney Koreli askeri mühendislere özel hizmetleri için Birleşmiş Milletler madalyası verildi.

Çatışmadan yıkılan Jonglei Eyaleti'nde barış ve kalkınmaya katkılarından dolayı, Güney Sudan'daki Birleşmiş Milletler Elçilik'inde hizmet veren 113 Güney Koreli askeri mühendis, eyalet başkenti Bor'da Birleşmiş Milletler madalyası ile ödüllendirildi.

South Korean military engineers serving in South Sudan have been awarded United Nations medals for their dedicated service, the U.N. said.

"Recognizing their contributions to peace and development in conflict-torn Jonglei State, 113 South Korean military engineers serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) were awarded United Nations medals today in the state capital Bor," it said in a press release.

U.S. Choppers Redeployed in South Korea

Amerikan Helikopterleri Güney Kore'de Yeniden Görevlendirildi

Güney Kore Savunma Bakanlığı tarafından 5 Eylül'de yayınlanan fotoğrafa göre, Amerikan keşif helikopteri OH-58D önümüzdeki ay Güney Kore'de yeniden görevlendirilecek. Helikopterler, Seoul'ün 70 kilometre güneyindeki Pyeongtaek'te bulunan Humphreys Kampı'na Irak'taki beş yıllık görevlerini tamamlamalarının ardından 1 Ekim günü geri dönecekler. Helikopterler, dokuz ayın ardından ABD'deki birliğine geri dönen yüksek hızlı ve zırhlı bir uçak filosuyla gelecekler.

The photo provided by the South Korean defense ministry on Sept. 5, 2013 shows U.S. reconnaissance helicopter OH-58D to be redeployed in South Korea next month. The choppers are coming back to Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, 70 kilometers south of Seoul, on Oct. 1 after completing their five-year mission in Iraq. They will come with an air cavalry squadron that will return to its unit in the U.S. after nine months.

Güney Kore çarşamba günü; donanmanın açıklamasına göre 2015’te donanmanın hücum ve taşıma tatbikatlarında yer alacak olan 4,500 tonluk ilk yerli amfibi hücum gemisini açıkladı.

Cheonwangbong’dan sonra en yüksek dağ olan Mount Jiri’nin ismini alan 3,500-ton sınıfının lider gemisi, Hanjin Ağır Sanayi & İnşaat Şirketi tarafından yerli teknolojiyle inşa edildi.

South Korea on Wednesday unveiled its first indigenous 4,500-ton amphibious landing ship, which will be deployed on the Navy's landing and transportation operations in 2015, the Navy said.

The lead ship of 3,500-ton class named after Cheonwangbong, the highest peak of Mount Jiri, was built with domestic technology by Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co.

DAPA Başkan Park'a Boeing F-15 Silent Eagles Uçağını Önerdi

Güney Kore'nin silah tedariğinden sorumlu ajansı, Boeing yapımı F-15 Silent Eagles uçağını ülkenin yeni nesil savaş uçağı adıyla tek aday olarak başkanın önerisine sundu.

Savunma Tedarik Programı İdaresi (STPİ), Hava Kuvvetleri'nin gücünde meydana gelecek sarsıntıyı önlemek adına gecikmeden sadece bir aday seçerek Başkan Park Geun-hye'ye bildirdi.

Ajans, Savunma Bakanlığı'nın savunma projeleri komitesine tek aday olararak F-15 Silent Eagle'in önerildiğini söyledi.

Modeli hakkındaki bazı tartışmaların yaşanmasına rağmen, Chuseok Bayramı'ndan sonra Savunma Bakanı Kim Kwan-jin DAPA ile toplantı yapacak.

The agency responsible for procuring South Korea's arms has recommended to the president that Boeing’s F-15 Silent Eagles be the sole candidate for country’s next generation fighter jets.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) told President Park Geun-hye it can’t delay selecting a candidate any longer in order to prevent a vacuum in the Air Force's strength.

The agency said it wants to recommend the F-15 Silent Eagle as the sole candidate to the committee on defense projects at the Defense Ministry.

Despite some controversy surrounding the model, the DAPA will hold the committee meeting with Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin after the Chuseok Holidays.

Former Air Force commanders and veteran pilots have criticized the agency's evaluation standards, saying they lack strategy and are nonsensical.

Tümen Kumandanı Lee Soon-gwang, 16 Eylül 2013 tarihinde, Seoul’ün kuzeyindeki Casey Kampı’nda iki ülke arasındaki 60 yıllık ittifakı kutlamak amacıyla düzenlenen konser süresince el sıkışarak bağlantılarını güçlendirdiler. 2,700 civarı askerin ve ailelerinin davet edildiği konser, katılımlı olmasıyla iki ülke için de bir ilk.

24 Eylül 2013 tarihinde Seoul'de Savunma Bakanlığı, Savunma Bakanı Kim Kwan-jin başkanlığında üst düzey askeri yetkililerle Güney Kore'nin yeni nesil savaş uçağını seçmek için bir araya geldi. Her ne kadar Savunma Tedarik Program Yöneticisi 8.3 trilyon won (US$7.2 milyar)'luk sözleşmeyle teklif eden tek aday olsa da, Kim ve diğer üyeler F-15 SE seçmemeye karar verdi. Eleştirmenler, F-15 SE gizlilik özellikleri yeterli olmadığı için gelecekte savaş durumunda yetersiz kalacağını söyledi. Yeni süreçte Lockheed Martin's F-35 ve the EADS' Eurofighter göz önünde bulundurulacak.

Kim and other members decided not to select the F-15 SE, although the Defense Acquisition Program Administration has proposed it as the sole candidate for the 8.3 trillion won (US$7.2 billion) contract. Critics have said the F-15 SE is not suitable for future warfare due to lack of stealth features. A new process will soon begin to consider Lockheed Martin's F-35 and the EADS' Eurofighter.
