5 Year-Olds at Kindergartens to Recieve State Subsidy

5 Yasindaki Anaokulu Çocuklari Devletten Destek Alacak

Kres veya gündüz bakim evlerine giden bes yasindakiler gelecek yilin basinda devlet destegi alacaklar.

Bes yasindaki çocuklara çocuk yuvalari ve anaokullari için verilen destekler hükümetin geçen ay ilan ettigi birlesik müfredat tanitimini takiben yürürlüge girecek.

Five-year olds who go to kindergartens or day care facilities will receive a state subsidy beginning next year.

The issuing of the subsidies is a follow-up measure to the government’s announcement last month to introduce a unified curriculum for five-year-olds and to provide aid to kindergartens and nursery schools.

S.Korean Students Top OECD's Digital Reading Test

Güney Koreli Ögrenciler OECD’nin Dijital Okuma Testinde Ilk Sirada

Güney Kore, Ekonomik Isbirligi ve Kalkinma Teskilati (OECD) tarafindan ögrencilerin dijital okuma anlamasi hakkinda yapilan uluslararasi bir testte en iyi dereceyi aldi.

Egitim Bakanligi, OECD’nin 2009 yilindan bu yana yürütülen ilk Dijital Okuma Degerlendirme Programi kapsaminda Uluslararasi Ögrenci Degerlendirmesinin sonuçlarini açikladi.

Degerlendirmeye 19 ülkeden yaklasik 38 bin ögrenci katildi.

South Korea has taken top honors in a global test of students' digital reading comprehension conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The Education Ministry announced the result of the OECD's first Digital Reading Assessment 2009 conducted as part of the Programme for International Student Assessment.

Some 38-thousand students from 19 countries took part in the assessment.

All 3rd Graders in Seoul Likely to Have Swim Class

Seoul’deki 3. Sinif Ögrencilerinin Yüzme Sinifi Olmasi Muhtemel

Baskent Seoul’deki tüm ilkögretim üçüncü sinif ögrencilerinin gelecek yildan itibaren yüzme ögrenecekleri bir plan yürütülüyor.

Seoul Büyüksehir Egitim Ofisi, planin bu yilin ikinci döneminde okullarda bir deneme olarak yürütülecegini söyledi. Bunun sonucuna göre, 2012 yilinda tüm üçüncü siniflar için yüzme siniflari yapma fikrini degerlendirilecek.

Seoul City is pushing a plan to have all elementary third grade students in the capital city to learn swimming from next year.

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education says the plan will be run on a trial basis at a number of schools in this year's second semester. Based on the outcome, the agency will consider instituting swim classes for all third graders in 2012.

G. Kore Okulda Okumaya Destek Veriyor

Egitim Bakanliginin pazartesi günü açikladigi plana göre, ögrenciler, daha fazla kitap okuma ve kitap okuma programlarina katilima tesvik edilecekler.

Okul sonrasi programlarin bir parçasi olarak, okulda “okuma ve tartisma kulübüne” ve okuma kampina dahil olan ögretmen ve ögrencilere çesitli okuma faaliyetleri tanitilacak.

Ögretmenler ögrencilerin okumadaki yeteneklerine rehberlik ederek keskinlesmesine yardimci olacaklar. Bakanlik, bu yil okuma kulüplerinde olan 500 ögretmene mali destekte bulunacak. Okuma kulüplerinde devlet destegi alan ögretmenlerin sayisi 2013’te 1000’e yükselecek.

The Education Ministry announced plans on Monday to encourage students to read more books and participate in more reading programs.

As part of the after-school programs, various kinds of reading activities will be introduced at schools for teachers and students, including "reading and debate" clubs and reading camps.

To help teachers sharpen their capabilities to guide students in reading, the ministry will offer financial support to 500 teachers’ reading clubs this year. The number of teachers’ reading clubs receiving government support will grow to one-thousand by 2013.

SNU Appoints Foreign Prof. to Korean Dept.

SNU Korece Bölümüne Yabanci Profesör Atadi

Seoul Ulusal Üniversitesi, (SNU) Korece Dili ve Edebiyati bölümüne ilk yabanci profesörünü atadi.

SNU, 36 yasindaki Fransiz Dr. Marc Duval’in güz döneminde ögretime baslayacagini açikladi.

Dilbilimi ögretim üyesi, 1988 yilinda Kore Askeri Akademisi’nde Fransizca egitimi vermisti ve 2008 yilinda alti hafta SNU’da Korece Çalismalari için Gyujanggak Enstitüsünde arastirma görevlisi olarak görev yapmisti.

Seoul National University has appointed its first foreign professor to its Department of Korean Language and Literature.

SNU says 36-year-old French national Dr. Marc Duval will start teaching from the fall semester.

The Ph.D in Linguistics has taught French at the Korea Military Academy since 1998 and served as a research fellow for six months in 2008 at SNU's Gyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies.

BAI to Launch Inspection on 30 Universities

BAI 30 Üniversitede Denetlemeye Baslayacak

Denetim ve Teftis Kurulu, (BAI) persembe günü mali yönetimde ve yaklasik 30 özel ve devlet üniversitesinde ögrenim artisi ile ilgili faktörlerde arastirma yapacak.

Yönetim kurulu iki yüz denetçiyi 27 Temmuzdaki ön denetleme çalismalari için seferber etmeyi planliyor.

BAI, ülke çapinda seçilen üniversiteler tarafindan sunulan mali tablolar esas alinarak inceleme yapacak.

The Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI) will launch a preliminary survey on Thursday into the financial management and factors related to tuition increases at some 30 public and private universities.

The board plans to mobilize about two-hundred auditors to conduct intensive preliminary inspections through July 27th.

The BAI selected which universities to inspect based on financial statements submitted by universities nationwide.

Kindle gibi elektronik kitap okuyuculari ve tablet bilgisayarlarin yayginlasmasiyla birlikte kullanicilar tarafindan daha fazla ilgi görmeye baslayan elektronik kitaplar, ülkelerin egitim sistemlerini de yeniden sekillendirecek gibi görünüyor. Gelen son bilgilere göre Güney Kore, egitim sisteminde elektronik kitap devrimi yapmaya hazirlaniyor.

2014 ile birlikte temel egitimde elektronik kitap kullanimina baslayacak olan Güney Kore, 2015 ile birlikte egitimin her safhasinda elektronik kitap dönüsümünü tamamlamis olacak. Bu çerçevede tüm ögrencilere farkli özellikte bilgisayar, akilli telefon ve tablet saglanmasi beklenirken, ülkenin milli egitim bakanligi henüz cihazlarla ilgili detaylari açiklamis degil.

Dijital egitim materyalleri ve gerekli olan tablet bilgisayarlar için 2.4 milyar dolar harcayacagini açiklayan Güney Kore, tercihini bu alanda dünyaya yön veren yerli üreticilerden yana kullanacak gibi görünüyor ki bu noktada Samsung ve LG gibi üreticiler arasinda ihaleye yönelik yogun bir rekabetin yasanacagini da söyleyebiliriz.

Ülke genelindeki bazi okullarda hali hazirda elektronik kitap kullanimi baslarken, bu degisim ile çocuklari sirt çantasindan kurtarmayi hedefleyen ülke ayni zamanda gelisen teknolojinin avantajlarini egitim alaninda daha fazla kullanmayi hedefliyor. Bilindigi üzere ülkemizde de "Fatih Projesi" ile egitimde daha fazla teknoloji kullanilmasina için program yürütülüyor.

By 2015, students will be carrying digital textbooks in lieu of paperback books in all schools in South Korea, according to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
Taking advantage of cloud technology, the ministry said that it will invest KRW 2.2 trillion (US $ 2 billion) to convert textbooks to digital with links to various multimedia content, establish massive servers and WiFi networks in schools, and provide free tablets for students from low-income families, reports The Cosunilbo.
It’s likely that the government will choose tablets manufactured by South Korean electronics giant Samsung, over U.S.-based Apple’s iPad, as some schools in Korea have started using it already for a similar initiative.
“We don’t expect the shift to digital textbooks to be difficult as students today are very accustomed to the digital environment,” a ministry official said.
The government expects that the new educational plan will help students establish their own study patterns based on individual needs by giving them online access to their lessons and other educational resources. Students who miss classes will also be able to catch up by attending substitute online classes, which would be recognized as attendance.
Technology and the Internet has revolutionized education all across the globe. While South Korea is the first to declare a country-wide plan to shift to digital textbooks, it shouldn’t come as surprise to see other countries follow suit seeing as digital content is slowly taking over traditional media.
