Gov't to Supply Foreign Work Force to Domestic Firms

Hükümet, Yerli Firmalara Yabanci Is Gücü Temin Edecek

Hükümet, yabanci isçilerin çalismasinin onaylandigi isletmelerin listesini tamamladigini açikladi.

Istihdam ve Is Gücü Bakanligi, yabanci is gücünü tarim, hayvancilik, balikçilik ve insaat arasinda paylastirirken ilk kez puanlama sistemi uyguladiklarini açikladi.

Sisteme göre, bakanlik; is gücüne ihtiyaci olan sirketlerden basvuru alacak ve yabanci isçilerin ise alinmasina örnek olan firmalara yabanci isçileri dagitacak.

Bakanlik geçen hafta yabanci isçiler için izin isteyen firmalardan 2400 basvuru aldi. Izinlerin 1100'ünün onaylandigi söylendi.

The government says it has finalized a list of businesses where foreign workers have been approved to work.

The Employment and Labor Ministry says for the first time it applied a scoring system to manage the distribution of foreign labor among the agriculture, livestock, fisheries and construction sectors.

Under the system, the ministry receives applications from companies that need manpower and first assigns foreign workers to firms that have been exemplary in the hiring of foreign employees.

Last week, the ministry received 24-hundred applications from companies requesting permits for foreign workers. It said eleven-hundred of the permits were approved.

Korea Wants Int’l Efforts On Oil Prices

Kore, Petrol Fiyatlari Için Uluslararasi Çaba Istiyor

Hükümet dün Kore Maliye Bakaninin, ekonomik gelisimi bastirabilecek olan ham petrol fiyatlarinin artisini kontrol altina almak için daha fazla uluslararasi isbirligi için çagrida bulundugunu söyledi.

Strateji ve Maliye Bakanligi, Seoul'deki bir basin toplantisinda, "Bakan, Dünya Bankasi Baskaninin yani sira Çin, Hindistan, Meksika ve Kanada'dan gelen meslektaslariyla görüstü ve ham petrol fiyatlariyla ilgilenmek için ne tür önlemler alinacagina dair fikir alisverisi yapti," seklinde açiklamada bulundu.

Bahk Jae-wan, 2 günlük G20 Maliye Bakanlari Toplantisina katilmak için Washington'da bulunuyor.

Korea’s finance minister has called for greater international cooperation to control the surging price of crude oil, which can weigh down economic growth, the government said yesterday.

“The minister met with counterparts from China, India, Mexico and Canada, as well as the head of the World Bank, and exchanged views on what measures can be taken to deal with crude prices,” the Ministry of Strategy and Finance said in a press release in Seoul.

Bahk Jae-wan is in Washington to take part in a two-day Group of 20 finance ministers’ meeting.

S.Korea Pledges $15 Billion to IMF Funds

G.Kore IMF Fonlarina 15 Milyar Dolar Verecegini Söyledi

Güney Kore, Uluslararasi Para Fonu'nun kaynaklarini arttirmak için 15 milyar dolar katkida bulunacagini açikladi.

Güney Kore Maliye Bakani Bahk Jae-wan, cuma günü Washington'da yapilacak G20 Maliye Bakanlari toplantisi öncesinde açiklama yapti.

Avustralya 7 ve Singapur 4 milyar dolar katkida bulunmayi kabul ederken, Birlesik Krallik (Ingiltere) 15 milyar dolar bagisladi.

Güney Kore'nin taahhüdü IMF'ye ödünç verme seklinde olacak ve 15 milyar dolar ülkenin elinde tuttugu yabanci döviz kaynaklari disindan alinacak. Ama fonlar Güney Kore'nin döviz rezervlerinin bir parçasi olarak kabul edilecek.

Bahk, G20 ülkeleri IMF fonlarinin arttirilmasini taahhüt ederken, Avrupa ülkelerinin Euro bölgesinde istikrar saglama dogrultusunda çalistigini söyledi.

Euro bölgesindeki dengesizligi çözmenin ve Avrupa Finansal Istikrar Tesisi ve Avrupa Istikrar Mekanizmasi'ndan gelen planlarin mutlak önem tasidigini söyledi.

South Korea says it will contribute 15 billion dollars to increase the International Monetary Fund’s resources.

South Korean Finance Minister Bahk Jae-wan made the pledge ahead of the G20 finance ministers’ meeting in Washington on Friday.

The U.K. pledged another 15 billion dollars while Australia agreed to contribute seven billion dollars and Singapore four billion dollars.

The commitment from South Korea will take place in the form of a loan to the IMF, and the 15 billion dollars will be taken out of foreign exchange resources that the country holds. But the funds will still be recognized as part of South Korea’s foreign exchange reserves.

Bahk urged the European countries to work towards stability within the euro zone as the G20 countries have committed to boosting IMF funds.

He said it was of absolute importance to solve the imbalance within the euro zone, and that the plans from the European Financial Stability Facility and the European Stability Mechanism must be placed into full action.

Pazar günü hükümet, Güney Kore'nin uluslararasi hava yolcu trafiginin, tatil ve bahar molasi için ziyarete gelen ve ayrilan, artan insan sayisinda bir yil öncesinden ilk çeyrekte yüzde 12.4 siçradigini söyledi.

Kara, Ulastirma ve Denizcilik Isleri Bakanligi'na göre, uluslararasi hava yolcularinin sayisi üç aylik dönemde 11.38 milyon gibi bir rekora ulasti. Sayi, daha önceki yilin ilk çeyreginde geçen yil 10.13 milyon olan yüksek sayimi geçti.

South Korea's international air passenger traffic jumped 12.4 percent in the first quarter from a year earlier on a growing number of people visiting and leaving for vacation and spring break, the government said Sunday.

The number of international air passengers came to a record 11.38 million in the three month period, according to the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. The number surpasses the previous first quarter high of 10.13 million tallied last year.

Protracted Low Growth Forecast For S. Korean Economy

Yerel bir ekonomi beyin takimi; euro kullanan bölgelerdeki borç krizi ve yavas bir ABD canlanmasi yüzünden global ekonomi beklentileri kötülestigi için Güney Kore ekonomisindeki büyümenin 2012-2016 arasinda yillik ortalama %3.2'ye gerilemesinin beklendigini açikladi.

LG Sirketler Grubuna bagli özel arastirmaci LG Ekonomik Arastirma Kurumunun tahmini, Kore Bankasinin 2012 yili için ekonomik büyüme tahminini %3.7'den %3.5'e çekmesinin üstünden bir hafta geçmeden açiklandi.

Growth in South Korea's economy is expected to slow to an annual average of 3.2 percent between 2012 and 2016 as the prospects for the global economy are darkening due to the eurozone debt crisis and a slow U.S. recovery, a local economic think tank said Sunday.

The forecast by the LG Economic Research Institute, a private researcher affiliated with the LG conglomerate, came less than a week after the Bank of Korea cut its economic growth forecast for 2012 to 3.5 percent from 3.7 percent.

3 Major Telecom Providers Compete in LTE Market

3 Büyük Telekom Saglayicisi LTE Pazarinda Yarisiyor

Ülkenin 3 büyük telekom saglayicisi SK Telekom, LG U+, ve Kore Telekom (KT), dördüncü nesil mobil telefon hizmetlerine daha fazla abone çekebilmek için yarisiyorlar.

KT Pazartesi günü, abonelerine 84 ilde ve yüksek hizli tren KTX'e binildiginde dahi LTE mobil telefon hizmeti saglayan ülke çapinda yeni bir LTE agini piyasaya sürdüklerini duyurdu.

KT aslinda LTE servisini 4 ay önce piyasaya sürmüstü, ancak 3 büyük telekom sirketi arasinda bu, ülke çapinda yapilan son LTE agiydi.

Yurt çapinda LTE agini insa eden ilk telekom sirketi olan LG U+, LTE veri kapasitesini artiracak 100 milyar won degerinde ek bir yatirim daha yapacak. SK Telekom ise artik abonelerine 20 bin wonluk ücretsiz ses ve video içerigi sunuyor.

The nation’s three major telecom providers SK Telecom, LG U+ and Korea Telecom (KT) are racing to attract more subscribers to their fourth generation mobile phone services.

KT announced Monday that it launched a new nationwide LTE network that allows subscribers to use the LTE mobile phone service in 84 cities and while riding the bullet train KTX.

KT originally launched LTE service four months ago, but among the three major telecom companies, it was the last to build a nationwide LTE network.

LG U+, the first telecom company to build a nationwide LTE network, will also make an additional investment worth 100 billion won to increase its LTE data capacity. SK Telecom now offers 20-thousand won worth of free audio and video content to its LTE subscribers for free.

Gov't Unveils Long-term IT Project

Hükümet Uzun vadeli BT Projesini Açikladi

Hükümet, ülkenin bilisim teknolojisi (BT) sektörünü gelistirmek için orta ve uzun vadeli projeler açikladi.

Bilgi Ekonomisi Bakanligi, Devlet Baskani Lee Myung-bak tarafindan yönetilen Ulusal Rekabet üzerine Cumhurbaskanligi Konseyi toplantisinda projeyi açikladi.

Bakanlik ''Giga Kore” projesinin, 2026 yilinda yeni bir BT pazari üretmek, üretimde 105.5 trilyon won olusturmak ve 694 bin is yaratmak için gelismis bir BT ortaminin amaçladigini açikladi.

Bakanlik akilli telefonlar dahil olmak üzere tasinabilir cihazlarin, 2020'de holografik cihaz ve 2017'de 3D görüntüsü üretmesinin mümkün olacagini söyledi.

Bakanlik, 3D film "Avatar"i indirmenin 3 saatten 30 dakikaya inecegini, mobil iletisim ag hizinin 2020 yilina kadar 40 kat artacagini da ekledi.

The government has unveiled mid- and long-term projects to develop the nation’s information technology (IT) industry.

The Knowledge Economy Ministry discussed the project during a meeting of the Presidential Council on National Competitiveness presided over by President Lee Myung-bak.

The ministry said that the “Giga Korea” project aims to achieve an advanced IT environment that will produce a new IT convergence market and create 105-point-five trillion won in production and 694-thousand jobs by 2026.

The ministry said that the mobile devices, including smartphones, will be able to produce 3D images by 2017 and holographic devices by 2020.

The ministry added that the speed of mobile communication network will increase 40-fold by 2020, reducing the time to download the 3D movie "Avatar" from three hours to three minutes.
