S. Korea, China, Japan Agreed to Boost Cooperation in Water Resources

G.Kore, Çin ve Japonya Su Kaynaklari Konusunda Isbirligini Artirmak Için Anlasti

Güney Kore, Çin ve Japonya düzenli olarak su kaynaklari üzerine bakanlik düzeyinde toplantilar düzenleme karari aldi.

Arazi, Ulasim ve Denizcilik Isleri Bakanligi, sali günü üç ülkenin Fransa, Marsilya'da devam eden 6. Dünya Su Forumu sirasinda anlasmayi imzaladigini söyledi.

Anlasmaya göre 3 ülke, iklim degisikligi; sehirlesme ve demografik degisikliklerden kaynaklanan su sorunlarini ortak olarak ele alma yöntemlerini görüsmek üzere en azindan 3 yilda bir bakanlik düzeyinde toplantilar düzenleyecek. Ilgili politika ve teknolojilerde ortak arastirma ve alisveris yapma karari da alindi.

South Korea, China and Japan have agreed to regularly hold ministerial meetings on water resources.

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs said that the three countries signed the agreement on Tuesday at the Sixth World Water Forum that is under way in Marseilles, France.

Under the agreement, the three nations will hold ministerial meetings at least every three years to discuss ways to jointly address water problems that result from climate change, urbanization and demographic changes. They also agreed to pursue joint research and exchanges in related policies and technologies.

S. Korea's jobless rate jumps to 11-month high in Feb.

Güney Kore'de issizlik orani 11 ayin en yüksek seviyesine ulasti. Bugün yayimlanan raporda belirtildigi üzere, ekonomik kalkinma devam etmesine ragmen, is piyasasinin durumu belirsizligini koruyor.

Kore istatistiklerine göre, Ocak ayinda %3.5 olan issizlik orani, geçen ay %4.2'ye firlamisti. Bu, geçen yilin Mart ayinda %4.3'e ulastigindan beri kaydedilen en yüksek oran.

South Korea's jobless rate jumped to the highest level in 11 months in February, indicating that the job market conditions remain cloudy despite the continued economic recovery, a report showed Wednesday.

The jobless rate stood at 4.2 percent last month, up from 3.5 percent in January, according to the report by Statistics Korea. It was the highest since March last year when the rate reached 4.3 percent.

Seoul-Washington Serbest Ticaret Anlasmasi Lehine Miting

Muhafazakar Kore Özgürlük Federasyonu tarafindan Güney Kore ve Amerika arasindaki serbest ticaret anlasmasini (2007'de imzalandiktan bes yil sonra yürürlüge konulmustur) kutlamak amaciyla 15 Mart 2012'de düzenlenen etkinlikte halk, Seul Istasyonu'ndan yürüyüse geçti. 2010 yilinin sonlarinda güncellenen ve geçen yil onaylanan anlasma, muhalefet partilerinin Amerikayi desteklemesiyle Güney Kore'de en çok tartisilan politik konulardan biri haline geldi.

Prices of Agricultural Products to Drop Sharply with FTA Effectuation

STA Uygulamasiyla Tarim Ürünlerinin Fiyatlari Önemli Ölçüde Düsecek

Güney Kore ve ABD arasindaki serbest ticaret anlasmasi persembe günü uygulamaya koyuldugundan tarim ürünlerinin fiyatlarinin tarim anlasmasiyla birlikte fazlasiyla düsmesi bekleniyor.

Kirazlara uygulanan gümrük vergisinin %24'ü derhal kaldirilacakken portakal, üzüm, ceviz ve peynire uygulanan vergi kademeli olarak kaldirilacak.

ABD sarabinin fiyatinin, gümrük vergilerinin kaldirilmasiyla birlikte %10 civarinda azalmasi bekleniyor.

Güney Kore'nin ABD yapimi arabalara uyguladigi gümrük vergisi %8'den %4'e düsecek.

Tüketicilerin daha genis ürün çesitlerinden yararlanmasi beklenirken tarim ve eczacilik endüstrileri varliklarini sürdürmede ciddi problemlerle karsilasabilir.

Ticaret pakti uygulamaya girmeden kisa süre önce, çiftçiler birligi protesto niteliginde eylemler düzenlerken ekonomi kuruluslari uygulamayi durdurmustu.

As the free trade agreement between South Korea and the United States took effect on Thursday, the prices of agricultural products are expected to drop the most with the trade deal’s effectuation.

Twenty-four percent of tariffs on cherries will be eliminated immediately while tariffs on oranges, grapefruit, walnuts and cheese will be gradually abolished.

Prices of U.S. wine are expected to slide around ten percent with the elimination of tariffs.

South Korea’s tariffs on U.S.-made cars will fall from eight percent to four percent.

While consumers are expected to enjoy a larger selection of items, agricultural and pharmaceutical industries may face a serious problem in terms of surviving.

Shortly before the trade pact went into effect, economic organizations hailed the effectuation while farmers’ associations held rallies protesting the move.

Inter-Korean trade surges 36 percent this year

Kuzey ve Güney Kore Arasindaki Ticaret Bu Yil %36 Artti

Bugün yayimlanan hükümet verilerine göre, sinir ötesi gerilim artmasina ragmen, Kuzey ve Güney Kore arasindaki ticaret hacmi, yilin ilk iki ayinda 320 milyon dolara ulasarak geçen yila göre %36 artti.

Kore Gümrük Idaresi tarafindan saglanan bu bilgiler, iki ülke arasindaki ticaretin, endüstri kompleksi sayesinde Kore yarimadasindeki gerilimden etkilenmedigini gösterdi.

Despite rising cross-border tension, the trade between South and North Korea surged 36 percent from a year ago to US$320 million in the first two months of this year, government data showed Friday.

The data provided by the Korea Customs Service indicated that the trade via the inter-Korean industrial complex has not been affected by tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

POSCO to Take Part in Mining Project in Australia

POSCO Avustralya'da Maden Projesine Katilacak

Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Güney Kore'nin çelik üreticisi POSCO'nun Avustralya'daki en büyük demir cevheri madenlerinden birini gelistirmek için Japon ticaret sirketi olan Marubeni Sirketi ile bir projede yer alacagini bildirdi.

Rapora göre, iki sirket ülkenin Pilbara bölgesinde bulunan Roy Hill demir cevheri madeninin haklarini devralacak ve 2014 yilinda üretime baslayacak.

Demir cevheri madeninden 840 milyar yen yatirim içerecek olan Marubeni yüzde 12.5 kazanacakken, POSCO yüzde 15 kazanacak. Sözlesmenin bu ay içinde tamamlanmasi bekleniyor.

Roy Hill madeninin, yillik 55 milyon ton demir cevher ürettigi tahmin edilmektedir.

South Korean steelmaker POSCO will take part in a project with Japanese trading company Marubeni Corporation to develop one of the biggest iron ore mines in Australia, Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported.

According to the report, the two companies will take over the rights to a Roy Hill iron ore mine located in the Pilbara region of the country and start production in 2014.

POSCO will gain 15 percent of the rights to the iron ore mine, while Marubeni will gain 12.5 percent, which will involve an investment of 840 billion yen. The contract is expected to be completed within this month.

The Roy Hill mines are estimated to produce 55 million tons of iron ore per year.

South Korean Stock Funds Rally

Güney Kore Hisse Senedi Fonlari Canlaniyor

Güney Kore hisse senedi fonlari geçen hafta deger kaybedip, tekrar canlandi.

Vergi takdir ve tahakkuk memuru Zeroin'e göre, geçen hafta cuma günü ögle saatinden önce yapilan hesaplamalardan yerli hisse senetlerinden %2.1 verim elde edildi.

Zeroin, KOSPI 200 Indeksini takip eden K200 Indeks Senetlerinden %2.51 degerinde saglam bir verim alindigini söyledi.

Diger siradan hisse senetleri %1.83 oraninda, ikinci kademe sirket hisse senedi fonlari ve temettü getirisi hisse senetleri %0.54 ve %1.28 oraninda verim sagladi.

Finansal uzmanlar, gelen verimlerin gelismis Amerika ekonomik verileri ve Güney Kore ve Amerika arasinda yapilan serbest ticaret anlasmasi ile baglantili oldugunu söyledi.

South Korean stock funds pared losses and rallied last week.

According to fund evaluator Zeroin, domestic stock fund values recorded yields of 2.1 percent during the past week, as of before noon on Friday.

Zeroin said the K200 Index Fund that tracks the KOSPI 200 index had the most robust yield of 2.51 percent.

Other regular stock funds had yields of 1.83 percent, while second-tier company stock funds and dividend yield stock funds also recorded yields of 0.54 percent and 1.28 percent, respectively.

Financial experts said the yields come from improved U.S. economic data and the free trade agreement between the U.S. and South Korean taking effect.
