Seoul Named Ninth in GFCI

Seoul, Global Finans Merkezleri Endeksi'nde Dokuzuncu Oldu

Z/Yen Group Global Finans Merkezleri Endeksi (GFCI), 77 büyük sehirde dünyanin en iyi finans merkezlerini arasindan Seoul'u dokuzuncu siraya yerlestirdi.

Seoul'un siralamasi, 2009 yilinda bir kez 53. sira gibi düsük bir sirada yer almasindan bu yana, 44 sira yükseldi. Geçen Eylül, Seoul on birinci siraya gelmisti.

Endeks, Dünya Ekonomik Forumu ve dünya çapindaki finansal uzmanlarin online anket yoluyla disaridaki uzman gruplar tarafindan degerlendirilen bes kategoride global finans merkezleri degerlendirmelerini birlestirdi.

Grup, 2007 yilindan beri her yil Mart ve Eylül ayinda endeks yayinliyor.

New York, Hong Kong ve Singapur'un izledigi Londra listenin basinda.

The Z/Yen Group’s Global Financial Centers Index (GFCI) has ranked Seoul in ninth place out of the world's top financial centers in 77 major cities.

Seoul's ranking has moved up by 44 spots, since it once ranked as low as 53rd place in 2009. Last September, Seoul came in at eleventh place.

The index combines the assessments of the global financial centers in five categories, evaluated by outside expert groups such as the World Economic Forum and through online polls of financial professionals around the world. The group has been publishing the index every March and September since 2007.

London topped the list, followed by New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.

No. of Babies Born in January Falls Sharply On-year

Yeni Dogum Oranlari Ocak Ayinda Düsüse Geçti

Ulusal istatistik ajansi, yeni dogan bebek sayisinin bir önceki yila kiyasla ocak ayinda yüzde dört oraninda düstügünü açikladi.

Statistics Korea pazartesi günü, ocak ayinda yaklasik 45 bin bebegin dünyaya geldigini ve bu rakamin geçen yil ayni dönemdeki sayiya göre % 4,6 daha düsük oldugunu rapor etti.

Ajans ayrica, ocak ayinda ölenlerin sayisinin 24 bin civarinda oldugunu ve bu sayinin geçen yil ayni döneme göre %1,7 daha yüksek oldugunu söyledi.

The nation's stats agency says the number of babies born in January fell more than four percent year-on-year.

Statistics Korea reported Monday that roughly 45-thousand babies were born in January, down four-point-six percent compared to the same period last year.

The agency said some 24-thousand people died in January, up one-point-seven percent from the same period last year.

S.Korea, Turkey Sign Trade Agreements

Güney Kore ve Türkiye Ticaret Anlasmasini Imzaladi

Güney Kore ve Türkiye ticari mallarin ticareti üzerine geçici bir anlasma ve iki tarafli serbest ticaret üzerine deneme kabilinden geçici anlasma imzaladi.

Ili ülkenin ticaret bakanlari pazartesi günü, Güney Kore Devlet Baskani Lee Myung-bak ve Türkiye Basbakani Recep Tayyip Erdogan'in esliginde iki anlasmayi imzaladilar.

Imza töreninden önce Lee ve Erdogan bir toplanti düzenledi ve Güney Kore'nin Türkiye'de insa edilecek nükleer santrali projesi üzerine devam eden iki tarafli müzakerenin sürecini degerlendirdi. Iki lider, Lee'nin subat ayinda Türkiye ziyaretinden sonra devam eden müzakerelerden olumlu sonuçlar üretmek için çalisma konusunda anlastilar.

Lee ve Erdogan ayrica savunma, altyapi, yapi ve kültür sektörlerinde de isbirligi ve alisverisi gelistirme konusunda el sikisti.

South Korea and Turkey have signed a provisional agreement on commodity trade and a tentative basic agreement on a bilateral free trade.

Trade ministers of the two nations on Monday signed the two agreements in the presence of President Lee Myung-bak and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Before the signing ceremony, Lee and Erdogan held a summit and assessed progress in bilateral negotiations on South Korea’s participation in a project to build a nuclear power plant in Turkey. The two leaders agreed to work to produce positive results from the negotiations, which resumed after Lee’s visit to Turkey in February.

Lee and Erdogan also agreed to enhance cooperation and exchanges in the sectors of defense, infrastructure, construction and culture.

KOGAS Gas Field in Mozambique

KOGAS Gaz Alani Mozambik'te

Bilgi Ekonomisi Bakanligi, Kore Gaz Sirketi'nin Mozambik sularinin kuzeyinde büyük bir gaz alani buldugunu söyledi.

Pazartesi günü bakanlik, gaz yataginin Block 4 bölgesinde gaz sirketi tarafindan bulunan üçüncü alan oldugunu söyledi. Gaz firmasi daha önce Ekim ayinda ve geçen ay bölgede gaz alani bulmustu.

Son alan, gaz sirketi 4560 metre derinliginde sondaj ve arama yaparken bulundu.

Su anda, toplam 900 milyon ton gaz Block 4'da bulundu. Devletin gaz sirketi, bölgede yüzde on hisse sahibi olarak 90 milyon ton saglayacak.

The Ministry of Knowledge Economy says the Korea Gas Corporation discovered a massive gas field in waters north of Mozambique.

The ministry said Monday that the gas deposit is the third to be discovered by the gas corporation in the Block 4 region. The gas firm previously found gas fields in the area last October and last month.

The recent field was discovered while the gas firm was drilling and exploring in depths of four-thousand-560 meters.

Currently, a total 900 million tons of gas has been found in Block 4. The state-run gas company will secure 90-million tons as it owns a ten percent stake in the area.
