Lee embarks on three-nation European tour :

Lee Avrupa’nin Üç Ulusunu Ziyaret Için Tura Çikti:

SEOUL, 8 Mayis (Yonhap), Güney Kore devlet baskani Lee Myung-bak ve esi Kim Yoon-ok, Pzar günü Almanya, Danimarka ve Fransa’yi kapsayan üçlü bir ziyaret için bir haftalik geziye çikti. Güney Kore ile Avrupa Birligi arasindaki serbest bir ticaret anlasmasinin uygulanmasi ve Avrupa ekonomisi ile ticari iliskilerin daha da yogunlastirilmasi gezinin ana gündemini olusturuyor.

Sekiz günlük gezi, Güney Kore Meclisi’nin bu hafta basinda Temmuz ayinda yürürlüge girmesi planlanan ticaret anlasmasinin onaylamasina denk geliyor. Anlasmanin önümüzdeki bes yil içinde ithalat vergileri ve diger ticari engellerin yüzde 98'ini ortadan kaldirilmasini öngörüyor. Avrupa Parlamentosu Subat ayinda anlasmayi onaylamisti.

Pazar günü Berlin'e geldikten sonra, Lee, Pazartesi günü Almanya Basbakani Angela Merkel ve Cumhurbaskani Christian Wulff ile görüsmeler yapacak. Yetkililer, iki ülke arasindaki ticaret ve yatirimin yayginlastirilmasi ile "yesil büyüme" konusunun konusulmasi ve diger küresel konularda isbirliginin yapilmasi için toplantilarin olacagini belirttiler.

SEOUL, May 8 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and first lady Kim Yoon-ok left on a week-long trip to Germany, Denmark and France on Sunday with a focus on boosting investment and trade with the European economies ahead of the implementation of a free trade agreement between South Korea and the European Union.

The eight-day trip comes days after South Korea's parliament ratified the trade pact earlier this week, enabling it to take effect in July as scheduled. The accord calls for eliminating 98 percent of import duties and other trade barriers over the next five years. The European Parliament approved the agreement in February.

After arriving in Berlin later Sunday, Lee is scheduled to hold talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Christian Wulff on Monday. Expanding trade and investment between the two countries will be a major topic for the meetings, along with cooperation in the area of "green growth" and other global matters, officials said.

The four-day visit to Germany, which includes a stop in the financial center of Frankfurt, will also include meetings with the speaker of the lower house of Germany's parliament and the mayor of Berlin and a round-table meeting in Frankfurt with the CEOs of major German firms.
