Pres. Lee to Mark Anniversary of Inauguration with News Conference

Devlet Baskani Lee, Düzenlenen Basin Toplantisinda Göreve Baslamasinin Yilina Girecegini Dile Getirdi

Devlet Baskani Lee Myung-bak, 25 Subat tarihinde göreve baslamasinin dördüncü yil dönümünü kutlamak için önümüzdeki hafta bir basin toplantisi düzenleyecek.

Lee, 22 Subat tarihindeki basin toplantisi sirasinda, ofiste son dört yil içinde gelistirdigi düsünce ve kararlar hakkinda bir konusma yapacak. Baskan, beklenen çesitli konular hakkindaki görüsünü de açiklayacak.

Baskanlik temsilcisi Park Jeong-ha, basin toplantisinda Lee, ekonomik kriz ve bölgeye yaptigi son yolculuk sirasinda tanik oldugu ikinci Orta Dogu ekonomik patlamasinin üstesinden gelmek için yaptigi planlar hakkinda konusacak, dedi.

Park, baskanin ayni zamanda gelecek ay Seoul'de düzenlenecek olan 2012 Nükleer Güvenlik Zirvesi'nde milletin basarili ev sahipligi yapmasi için kamu isbirligi arayacagini söyledi.

Baskan, basin toplantisi sirasinda yakin yardimcilari çevreleyen bir rüsvet skandali için görüsüne göre kamuya açik bir özür iletmeyi düsünüyor.

President Lee Myung-bak will hold a news conference next week to mark the fourth anniversary of his February 25th inauguration.

During the news conference on February 22nd, Lee will speak about the thoughts and resolutions he has developed over the past four years in office. The president will also reveal his position on various pending issues.

Presidential spokesman Park Jeong-ha said that at the news conference, Lee talk about his plans to overcome the economic crisis and the second Middle Eastern economic boom he witnessed during his recent trip to the region.

Park said the president will also seek public cooperation for the nation’s successful hosting of the 2012 Nuclear Security Summit, which will be held in Seoul next month.

The president is also apparently considering delivering a public apology during the news conference for a bribery scandal surrounding his close aides.

Gov't, Turkey to Discuss Joint Development of S.Korean Fighter Jets

Hükümet Türkiye Ile Güney Kore Avci Jetlerinin Ortak Gelistirilmesini Görüsecek

Hükümet gelecek hafta Türkiye'nin Güney Kore avci jeti gelistirme planina katilimini görüsecek.

Çarsamba günü Savunma Edinim Program Idaresi (DAPA) konuyu görüsmek için 22-25 Subat tarihlerinde Türkiye'ye bir görüsme heyeti gönderecegini söyledi.

Idare ek olarak, ortak bir saldiri helikopteri projesi görüsmek için Türk Havacilik ve Uzay Sanayi(TAI)'ne pazartesi günü bir delege heyeti de gönderecek.

The government will discuss next week Turkey’s participation in South Korea’s fighter jet development plan.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) on Wednesday said that it will send a negotiating team to Turkey from February 22nd to 25th to talk about the matter.

In addition, the administration will also send a delegation on Monday to Turkish Aerospace Industry (TAI) to discuss a joint attack helicopter development project.

Güney Gyeongsang Valisi DBP'ye Katildi

Güney Gyeongsang Eyalet Baskani Kim Du-kwan ana muhalefet Demokratik Birlesmis Parti'ye katildi.

Kim persembe günü Ulusal Meclis'te düzenlenen bir basin konferansinda, ana muhalefet partisinin kendini bilfiil yeniledigini ve muhalefet güçlerinin anlasmasina ön ayak oldugunu söyledi.

Vali, kendini yenilemenin ve muhalefetle isbirligi yapmanin DBP'nin bu yilki genel ve baskanlik seçimlerini kazanmasinin ve basit, insan canlisi bir parti olmasinin tek yolu oldugunu söyledi.

Kim, ana muhalefet partisinin genel seçimler için diger muhalefet Demokratik Ilerici Partinin Alman usulü parti listesi formülünü ve tek adaylari artirmak için seçim bölgelerini düzenlemeyi kabul etmeyi düsünmesi gerektigini de söyledi.

Parti reformunu gerçeklestirmek için DBP'nin sadece yapisini ve degerlerini gözden geçirmemesi fakat daha da önemlisi kadrosunu gözden geçirmesi gerektigini de ekledi.

South Gyeongsang Province Governor Kim Du-kwan has joined the main opposition Democratic United Party.

Kim said in a news conference held at the National Assembly Thursday that the main opposition party must actively reform itself and take the initiative for the alliance of opposition forces.

The governor said self-reform and allying the opposition are the only ways for the DUP to win this year’s general and presidential elections and to create an ordinary, people-friendly government.

Kim also said the main opposition party should consider accepting the minor opposition United Progressive Party’s proposals for a German-style party roster formula for the general elections and the adjustment of constituencies to put up single candidates.

He added that in order to achieve party reform, the DUP must not only overhaul its structure and values but also and more importantly overhaul its personnel.

Iktidardaki Saenuri Partisinin acil liderlik komitesi baskani, parti yeni bir Kore yaratacak adaylar çikarirsa kamu destegi kazanacagini söyledi.

Komite baskani Park Geun-hye, partinin adaylik tayinleri öncesinde persembe günü partinin acil durum kurulunun toplantisi sirasinda sözlerini söyledi. Nisan genel seçimlerinin geçmis ve gelecek arasinda bir seçim yapma yarisi olacagini söyledi.

Partinin, ülkenin gelecegi adina, geçmis olaylar üzerine çabalayacaklar ve yeni bir toplum olusturmaya çalisacaklar arasinda seçim yapmasi gerektigini vurguladi.

Partinin siyasi reform alt komitesinin gençlere is olusturma önlemleri buldugunu ve gençlerin issizliginin partinin güç birligi yapmasini gerektirecek bir is oldugunu söyledi.

The head of the ruling Saenuri Party’s emergency leadership committee says the party will gain public support if it nominates candidates who will create a new Korea.

Committee Chairwoman Park Geun-hye made the remarks during a meeting of the emergency body on Thursday ahead of the party’s candidate nomination reviews. She said April’s general elections will be a race to choose between the past and the future.

Park stressed that for the sake of the nation’s future, the party must choose between those who will struggle over past affairs and those who will work to create a new society.

She said the party’s policy reform subcommittee devised measures to create jobs for young people, and easing youth unemployment is a task that will require the party to join forces.

DUP to Announce Candidates for Primaries

DBP Ön Seçimler Için Adaylari Açiklayacak

Ana muhalefet Demokratik Birlesmis Parti (DBP), ön seçimlere tabi olacak seçim bölgeleri listesinin yani sira yaklasan Nisan genel seçimleri için ön seçim adaylari listesini de pazar günü duyurmayi planliyor.

DBP Genel Seçim Komitesi Baskani Woo Sang-ho persembe günü gazetecilere partinin pazar günü seçim bölgelerinde rakipleri olmayan adaylarin degerlendirme sonuçlarini da duyuracagini söyledi.

Woo, partinin pazartesiden itibaren ön seçimler için bir seçmen kurulu olusturmak için ön seçimlere tabi olan bölgelerin ve adaylarin listesini çabucak bitirmesi gerektigini söyledi.

Rekabetçi adaylarin rakipsiz olarak basvuruda bulunmasi durumunda ön seçimlerde aday olmalarina gerek kalmadan partinin adaylari olarak kabul edileceklerini de ekledi.

The main opposition Democratic United Party (DUP) plans to announce on Sunday a list of candidates for the primaries for the upcoming April general elections as well as a list of constituencies subject to the primaries.

Woo Sang-ho, head of the DUP’s general election committee, told reporters on Thursday that the party will also disclose around Sunday its evaluation results on the candidates who have no competitors in their constituencies.

Woo said that the party needs to swiftly finalize the list of candidates and the constituencies subject to the primaries in order to form an electoral college for the primaries starting Monday.

He added that if competitive candidates apply without competitors, they will be confirmed as the party's candidates without having to run in the primaries.
