A Saint-Petersburg State Ballet on Ice troupe showcases scenes from the Pinocchio & Pororo Double Ice Show to the press on Feb. 3, 2012, prior to their Feb. 4 through 26 performances in Seoul. Pororo is a globally-popular animated character made by inter-Korean animators, which has been exported to 90 countries, including France and Britain.

A passer-by walks by the entrance of a coal-mine in Taebaek, about 250 kilometers southeast of Seoul, on Feb. 4. Two miners were killed and six others injured in a gas explosion at the mine a day earlier.

G20 Development, Green Growth Talks to be Held in Seoul

G20 Kalkinma ve Yesil Büyüme Görüsmeleri Seoul'de Yapilacak

Ikinci G20 Kalkinma Çalisma Grubu toplantisi, 19 Mart tarihinden itibaren iki gün boyunca Seoul'de yapilacak.

Disisleri ve Ticaret Bakanligi, toplantinin Seoul'de düzenlenen 2010 G20 Zirvesi'nde kamsamli ve kalici bir büyüme seçilen Seoul'un ortak görüsünü göz geçirecegini söyledi. Görüsmeler ayrica yesil büyüme, altyapi ve gida güvenligi üzerine de yapilacaktir.

Hükümet ayrica, ayrintili olarak yesil büyüme planlarini görüsmek üzere Mart'in ilk günü bu yil G20'nin ev sahibi Meksika ile G20 yesil büyüme üzerinde görüsmeler baslatacak.

The second G20 Development Working Group meeting will be held in Seoul from March 19th for two days.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade says the meeting will look over the Seoul consensus on inclusive and sustainable growth that was chosen at the 2010 G20 Summit held in Seoul. Discussions will also be held on green growth, infrastructure and food security.

The government will also launch talks on G20 green growth with Mexico, this year’s G20 host, on March first to discuss detailed green growth plans.

Local governments want to give aid to North Korea

Yerel Yönetimler, Kuzey Kore'ye Yardim Etmek Istiyor

Hükümetin, savas gemisi Cheonan'in batirilmasinin ardindan Kuzey Kore'ye yardimi yasaklayan 24 Mayis yaptirimlarina ragmen liberal yöneticilerin yönettigi yerel yönetimler yardim saglamak için kendi bütçelerini kullanma girisiminde bulunacak.

Yerel yönetimler, Gün Isigi adli politikayla Koreler arasi iliskilerin en parlak devri süresince, Kim Dae-jung yönetiminden bu yana ayirdiklari parayi harcamak zorundalar.

Fakat son olarak yetki vermesi gereken Birlesme Bakanligi, Kuzey'e yardimi yasaklayan Lee yönetimiyle birlikte ikilem yasiyor.

Despite the government’s May 24 sanctions that forbid any aid for North Korea in the aftermath of the warship Cheonan’s sinking, a slew of local governments led by liberal heads are attempting to spend their own budgets to offer assistance.

The local governments must spend money they have set aside since the Kim Dae-jung administration, during the heyday of inter-Korean relations with the so-called Sunshine Policy.

But with the Lee administration’s policy forbidding aid to the North, the Unification Ministry, which has to give the final authorization, is faced with a dilemma.

Seoul City to Expand Low-floor Bus Routes for Physically Challenged

Seoul, Fiziksel Engelliler Için Alçak Zeminli Otobüs Seferlerini Artiracak

Seoul Metropolit Yönetimi, yilin ilk yarisinda yaslilar ve fiziksel engelliler tarafindan kullanilan daha fazla seferde daha alçak zeminli otobüsleri tanitacak.

Otobüsler caddeye daha yakin zeminlere sahip ve binilmesi daha kolay. Özel otobüsler su an 165 otobüs seferiyle hizmet veriyor ancak bu sayi 255'e yükselecek.

Alçak zeminli otobüsler bozuk olmayan genis yollarda isliyordu fakat artik yol durumuna bakilmaksizin fiziksel engelliler için tesislerin yakinlarinda duran seferler yapilacak.

2014 yili itibariyla baskentte her metro istasyonunda bir asansör hedefiyle bu yil boyunca metro istasyonlarinda 19 asansör ve 40 yürüyen merdiven tesis edilecek.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government will introduce buses with lower floors within the year's first half on more routes that are frequently used by the elderly and the physically challenged.

The buses have floors that sit lower to the street and are easier to board. The special buses currently serve 165 bus routes but will eventually serve 255.

The lower-floor buses have been running on wide roads that aren't too windy, but from now on, regardless of road condition, they will run routes that stop near facilities for the physically challenged.

Nineteen elevators and 40 escalators will also be installed at subway stations throughout this year with the goal of having an elevator at every subway station in the capital city by 2014.

Small fire engines introduced in Busan

Busan'da küçük itfaiye arabasi tanitildi

Bu 1 tonluk itfaiye arabasi, 8 Subat 2012 tarihinde Busan'da itfaiye istasyonu tarafindan tanitildi. 1.73 metre genisligindeki araba, ev ve dükkanlar ile yogun dar geçitlerdeki yanginlar için 600 litre su ve kusursuz tasima yetenegine sahip.

This 1-ton fire engine was introduced by a fire station in Busan on Feb. 8, 2012. The 1.73-meter-wide engine is capable of carrying 600 liters of water and ideal for fires in narrow alleys dense with houses and shops.
