Karantina yetkilileri 1 Mayis 2012 günü, Seoul'un güneyindeki Gwangju'da Birlesik Devletler'de yayilan deli dana hastaligiyla ilgili toplumda büyüyen korku yüzünden ABD'den ithal gelen dana etlerini yakindan kontrolden geçiriyorlar. Hükümet üyeleri, bilim adamlari, avukatlardan olusan Güney Kore'nin acil durum delegasyonu bugünlerde ABD'den gelen dana etinin ne kadar güvenli oldugunu tespit etmek için ABD'de. Ancak muhalefet partisiyle sivil kuruluslar hükümet ABD'den et ithalini durdurmayip sadece karantina kontrolunu güçlendirme kararini aldiktan sonra hükümetten ABD'den dana eti ithalini durdurmasini talep ediyorlar.

A nine-member emergency delegation of South Korean government officials, scholars and consumer advocacy group members is currently in the U.S. to check the safety of U.S. beef. ABD'deki Güney Kore hükümet yetkililerinden tehlike durumu heyetinin dokuz üyesi, akademisyenler ve tüketici haklari grubu üyeleri ABD'de halen devam etmekte olan deli dana hastaligindan dolayi ABD'de büyüyen kamu endisesi ABD sigir etinin güvenilirligini kontrol ediyor. Daha önce hükümet sigir eti ithalatini durdurma karari almis ama sadece karantina kontrollerini arttirmislardi.

Joo leads a nine-member team of government officials, scholars and consumer advocacy group members that is visiting the U.S. for on-site inspections of the safety of U.S. beef before returning home on May 9. Based on the outcomes of the visit, the Seoul government will decide the necessary steps to prevent against the latest case of mad cow disease on a California farm. South Korea has so far strengthened quarantine inspections of U.S. beef imports since the case was reported a week ago, but opposition parties and civic organizations are strongly calling for a halt to imports amid growing concerns over the safety of U.S. beef.
