College Entrance Exam Postponed 1 Week due to Earthquake

Deprem Nedeniyle 1 Hafta Sonraya Ertelenen Üniversite Giriş Sınavı

Güney Kore, Çarşamba günü güneydoğudaki bölgeyi vuran 5.4 büyüklüğündeki bir deprem sonrasında güvenlik kaygısı nedeniyle bir hafta boyunca yılda bir gerçekleştirilen üniversite giriş sınavını bir hafta sonraya erteledi.

Eğitim Bakanlığı, Çarşamba akşamı bu önlem açıklamasını yayınladı ve deprem olayına rağmen Üniversite Bilimsel Beceri Testi'nin (CSAT) yapılması konusunda önceki kararının tersine çevrildiğini açıkladı.

Bir bakanlık yetkilisi, Perşembe günü ilk kez planlanan 2018 eğitim yılı için CSAT'nin 23 Kasım'da gerçekleştirileceğini bildirdi.

Yetkili, sınavı erteleme kararının, öğrencilerin güvenliği konusundaki endişelerden kaynaklandığını açıkladı. Pohang Şehrindeki bazı test yerleri, okul binalarının duvarlarının çatlamış olması nedeniyle ciddi hasar gördü. Ayrıca, sınava girecek olan adayların üzerinde psikolojik bir sıkıntı yaşatabilecek artçı sarsıntıların da devam ediyor olmasını neden olarak gösterdi.

Yetkililer, Pohang'daki eğitim kurumlarının daha önce üniversite giriş sınavına devam etmenin zor olacağına dair görüşlerini sunduklarını söyledi.

5.4 büyüklüğündeki depremin merkez üssü, Çarşamba öğleden sonra Pohang bölgesinde gerçekleşti. Geçtiğimiz yıl Gyeongju Şehrini vuran 5.8 büyüklüğündeki depremden sonra bu yaşanan deprem ikinci sırada bulunuyor.

South Korea has postponed an annual college entrance exam for one week due to safety concerns following a five-point-four magnitude earthquake that hit the southeastern region on Wednesday.

The Education Ministry announced the measure on Wednesday evening in a reversal of its earlier decision to conduct the College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) despite the quake.

A ministry official said the CSAT for the 2018 academic year, originally scheduled for Thursday, will be conducted on November 23rd.

The official said the decision to postpone the test was made out of concern for the safety of students as some test sites in Pohang City were severely damaged with walls of school buildings cracked. He also cited the continuing aftershocks that could take a psychological toll on test-takers.

The official said educational authorities in Pohang had earlier presented their opinion that it would be difficult to go ahead with the college entrance exam.

The five-point-four magnitude earthquake jolted the Pohang area on Wednesday afternoon. It is the second strongest after the five-point-eight magnitude earthquake that hit nearby Gyeongju City last year.

Büyükler için ertesi gün gerçekleşecek olan ve devlet tarafından yönetilen akademik yetenek testi hakkında iyi şanslar dilemek için 15 Kasım 2017'de Seoul'daki Seolwol Gils Lisesinde bir çan çalma etkinliği düzenlendi. TOPIK to be Conducted in 72 Countries Next Year

TOPIK Sınavı, Gelecek Yıl 72 Ülkede Düzenlenecek

Kore Yeterlilik Testi veya TOPIK sınavı, önümüzdeki yıl toplam 72 ülkenin 223 bölgesinde uygulanacak.

Güney Kore Uluslararası Eğitim Enstitüsü Cuma günü yaptığı açıklamada sınavların Nisan, Mayıs, Temmuz, Ekim ve Kasım'da beş defa gerçekleştirileceğini söyledi.

Beş sınavdan üçüncüsü olan TOPIK sadece Vietnam, İran, Japonya, Kamboçya ve Tayland'da yapılacak.

1997'de ilk olarak tanıtılan ve uygulanan test, yurtdışında yaşayan ve Güney Kore'de iş bulmak ya da yaşamak isteyen yabancılar ve etnik kökeni Koreli olanlar tarafından alınmaktadır.

TOPIK, yurt dışında yaşayan yabancılar ve etnik Korelilerin Korece yeterlilik düzeyini değerlendirmektedir.

The Test of Proficiency in Korean, or TOPIK, will be administered in 223 regions in 72 countries next year.

South Korea’s National Institute for International Education said Friday that the exams will be conducted five times in April, May, July, October and November.

Out of the five exams, the third TOPIK will be conducted in only Vietnam, Iran, Japan, Cambodia and Thailand.

Introduced in 1997, the test is taken by foreigners and ethnic Koreans living overseas who want to study or find jobs in South Korea.

The TOPIK evaluates the level of Korean proficiency of foreigners and ethnic Koreans living abroad whose first language is not Korean.

Sınava girenler, 23 Kasım 2017'de devlet tarafından yapılan akademik yetenek sınavını olduktan sonra güneydoğu şehri Pohang'daki Yuseong Kız Lisesi’nden çıkıyorlar. Sınavın 16 Kasım'da yapılması planlanıyordu ancak 15 Kasım'da meydana gelen 5.4 büyüklüğündeki deprem sonrasında sınav bir hafta ertelenmişti. Ülkenin dört bir yanından yaklaşık 590.000 öğrenci, Mart ayında başlayacak olan bahar döneminde üniversiteye girmek için sınava girdi.

Koreli Engelli Çocuklara Yönelik Okulları Artırmak İçin Yeni Çalışmalar

Eğitim Bakanı Kim Sang-gon, fziksel ve zihinden engelli öğrenciler için özel okul sayısını artırmaya yönelik 2018-2022 yıllarını kapsayan 5 yıllık olan eğitim planı dahilinde yeni okul ve sınıflar açmayı planladıklarını Seoul'da katıldığı bir toplantı esnasında bildirdi. Özel eğitime ihtiyacı olan öğrenciler için ciddi bir özel okul eksikliğinin bulunduğunu ve mevcut olan okulların ise uzak mesafelerde bulunduğu sorununu dile getirdi. Bu okulların sayılarının artırılarak eğitimin de kalitesinin geliştirilmesi hedefleniyor.

Korean University Students More Worried About Employment than Exams

Koreli Üniversite Öğrencileri Sınavlardan Daha Çok İş Bulma Konusunda Endişeleniyor

Eğitim Bakanlığı'nın yeni bir anketi, Güney Koreli öğrencilerin derslere göre daha çok iş bulma konusunda endişe ettiğini gösteriyor.

Bu yıl 2 Haziran - 14 Temmuz tarihlerinde 36 bin öğrenci, profesörler ve iş danışmanları arasında anket yapıldı.

Üniversitelere ve meslek yüksek okullarına kayıtlı olanların yaklaşık yüzde 60'ı, araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerden derslerine daha fazla endişelenenlerin sadece dörtte birine kıyasla istihdamı hakkında endişe duyuyordu.

Üniversite öğrencilerinin yüzde 22'si ne yapacağından emin olmadığı halde yaklaşık üçte ikisi mezun olduktan hemen sonra iş aramayı planlıyor.

Üniversite öğrencilerinin çoğu bir iş ararken kamu sektöründe çalışmayı umuyor. Yüzde 24'ü devlet memuru ya da öğretmen olmak istiyor ve yüzde 20'si ise bir kamu kuruluşunda çalışmayı umuyor.

Bu arada meslek yüksek okullarına kayıtlı olanların yarısından fazlası iş dünyasında çalışmayı hedefliyor.

A new Education Ministry survey suggests South Korean students are more worried about getting a job than their immediate studies.

About 36-thousand students, professors and job counselors were surveyed between June 2nd to July 14th this year.

About 60 percent of those enrolled in universities and vocational colleges were most concerned about employment -- compared to just a quarter of the students surveyed who were more worried about their studies.

About two-thirds of the students plan on seeking employment once they graduate while 22 percent of college students are unsure on what to do.

Most university students planning to look for a job hope to work in the public sector. Twenty-four percent wish to become a civil servant or a teacher, and 20 percent hope to work in a public corporation.

Meanwhile, more than half of those enrolled in vocational colleges aim to work in business.

Korean Proficiency Test Takers Top 2 Million

Korece Yeterlilik Sınavı Katılımcıları İki Milyonu Aştı

Sınav 1997'de başlatıldığından beri, Korece Yeterlilik Sınavına girenlerin toplam sayısı iki milyonu aştı.

Eğitim Bakanlığı altındaki Uluslararası Eğitim İçin Ulusal Enstitü, Perşembe günü; sınavın 55 oturumunda şimdiye kadar Korecede Yeterlilik Sınavı (TOPIK) katılımcılarının sayısının yaklaşık 2.12 milyon olduğunu söyledi.

1997'de toplam TOPIK katılımcıları sayısı 2700 idi; ancak bu yıl, Kore pop müziği ve dizilerinin artan ünü sayesinde, 290 bine çıktı.

TOPIK puanı, yabancıların bir Kore üniversitesine girmesi ya da burada bir işe başvurması için gerekli. 2015'ten itibaren sınav yılda altı kez yapılıyor.

Şu anda dünya üzerinde 73 ülkede bu sınav yapılmakta, 1997'de ise dört ülkede yapılıyordu.

The cumulative number of people who took the Korean proficiency test has surpassed two million since the test was introduced in 1997.

The National Institute for International Education under the Education Ministry said on Thursday that around two-point-12 million people took the Test of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK) in the 55 rounds of the test so far.

The number of TOPIK test takers totaled 27-hundred in 1997, but surged to 290-thousand this year, thanks to the increasing popularity of Korean pop music and TV dramas.

The TOPIK score is essential for foreign nationals to enter a Korean university or apply for a job here. The test has been held six times a year starting from 2015.

Currently, 73 countries around the world hold the test, up from four countries in 1997.
