KOSPI Hits New High on Bin Laden's Death
KOSPI, Bin Laden'in Ölümü Üzerine Yeniden Zirve Yapti

Kore hisse senetleri, Usame bin Ladin'in ölüm haberinin ardindan yeni bir zirve yapti.

Kore Birlesik Hisse Senedi Endeksi (KOSPI), Pazartesi günü 36 puan, yani yüzde bir nokta altmis yedilik artisla 2,228'le günü kapadi.

Kurumlardan bazi alicilar 100 milyar ₩ kar ederken yabancilar net olarak 190 milyar degerinde hisse senedi satin aldi.

Güçlü teknoloji KOSDAQ da bes puan kazanarak 516'ya tamamlandi.

Dolara göre 1,065 ₩'da kapamak için ABD dolari karsisinda, Seoul döviz piyasasinda ulusal para degeri alti nokta bes won artti.

Korean shares rose to a new high following the news of Osama bin Laden’s death.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) on Monday surged 36 points, or one-point-67 percent, to close at 2,228.

Foreigners bought a net 190 billion worth shares, while institutions were net buyers of some 100 billion won.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also gained five points to finish at 516.

On the Seoul foreign exchange market, the local currency soared six-point-five won against the U.S. dollar to close at 1,065 won to the greenback.

Finance minister Yoon to attend ASEAN meeting in Vietnam

Maliye Bakani Yoon Vietnam'daki ASEAN Toplantisina Katilacak

Hükümetten pazartesi günü yapilan açiklamaya göre, Maliye Bakani Yoon Jeung-hoon, bölgesel finans sektöründeki isbirliginin artmasi için müzakerelerde bulunmak ve Asya ülkelerindeki Koreli is adamlariyla birlikte bu hafta yapilacak olan toplantiya katilmak için Vietnam'a gidecek.

Strateji ve Maliye Bakanligina göre, Bakan Yoon çarsamba günü, 10 üyeli ASEAN arti Güney Kore, Japonya ve Çin'in yer alacagi toplantiya katilacak. Bakan Yoon toplantidan önce Japonya ve Çin'de bulunan Koreli is adamlariyla bir görüsme yapacak.

Finance Minister Yoon Jeung-hyun will leave for Vietnam this week to attend meetings with his counterparts in Asian countries and discuss ways to increase cooperation in the regional financial sector, Seoul officials said Monday.

Yoon will attend the meeting of the 10-member ASEAN plus South Korea, Japan and China on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. Before the meeting, he will also hold talks with his counterparts from Japan and China.

Güney Kore dogalgaz fiyatlarina 4.8 oraninda zam yapti

Hükümet pazartesi günü, uluslararasi düzeyde artan enerji maliyetlerinin Güney Kore'de isinma ve ev isleri için kullanilan gazin ortalama fiyatinda yüzde 4.8 oraninda artisa neden oldugunu söyledi.

Hükümetin bu yil ikinci kez yaptigi zam, Mayis ayindan itibaren sivilastirilmis dogal gaz ve likit petrol gazinda geçerli olacak. Hükümet 1 Ocak itibariyle dogal gaz fiyatlarini 4.9 oraninda arttirmisti.

S. Korea jacks up gas prices by 4.8 pct

South Korea has raised the average price of gas used for heating and cooking by 4.8 percent to reflect rising international energy costs, the government said Monday.

The hike, effective from May, marks the second time this year that the government has marked up prices of liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas. The government jacked up gas prices by 4.9 percent on Jan. 1.

Forex Reserves Top $300 Bln
Döviz Rezervleri 300 Milyar Dolari Asti

Ülkenin döviz rezervi ilk kez 300 milyar dolari asmis durumda.

Kore Merkez Bankasi tarafindan Sali günü ülkenin döviz rezervlerinin durumunun, Marttan bu yana sekiz nokta alti milyar dolardan fazla, geçen ayin sonunda 307 nokta iki milyar dolar düzeyinde oldugu açiklandi.

Merkez Bankasi, yatirim gelirlerinde artis saglamanin euro ve pound'un dolar cinsinden degerlerinde bir yükselme olmasina baglidir.

Güney Kore Nisan ayi sonunda, dünyanin en büyük yedinci döviz rezervlerine sahip olmus oldu. Japonya, Rusya, Tayvan, Brezilya ve Hindistan'in takip listesinde, Çin zirveye yerlesti.

The nation’s foreign exchange reserves have exceeded 300 billion dollars for the first time.

The Bank of Korea announced Tuesday that the nation’s foreign exchange reserves stood at 307-point-two billion dollars at the end of last month, up eight-point-six billion dollars from March.

The central bank attributed the rise in the figure to an increase in investment returns and a jump in the dollar-denominated values of the euro and the pound.

At the end of April, South Korea had the seventh largest foreign reserves in the world. China topped the list followed by Japan, Russia, Taiwan, Brazil and India.

South Korea to Operate Massive Cruise Ship Next Year
Güney Kore, Gelecek Yil Kocaman Bir Yolcu Gemisi Isletecek

"All That Cruise", Kasim ayinda Amerika gemi seyahati operatöründen 74 bin tonluk yolcu gemisinin yönetimini üstlenecegini söyledi.

Güney Koreli gemi seyahati operatörü, Sali günü, gelecek Ocak ayinda gemiyi denize indirmeyi planladiklarini söyledi.

“Hallyu Star” olarak isimlendirilen bu gemi, bu günlerde Karayip Denizi'nde dümen tutuyor. Buraya vardigi zaman o, Asya'daki en büyük yolcu gemisi olacak. Hallyu Star, 268 metre uzunlugu ve 32 metre genisliginde, 1193 odasiyla 13 katli bu gemi 2744 insani agirlayabilir.

All That Cruise, S.M. Entertainment müzik toplulugu ve Girls’ Generation, Boa ve TVXQ gibi sarkicilar da dahil olmak üzere gemide Kore pop müzik konserleri düzenlemeyi planliyor.

Operatör, gemi içinde pop konserleri vermek üzere konserler organize edilmesi için S.M. Entertainment'in bir alt kurulusu olan S.M. Art Company ile bir anlasma protokolü imzalandigina dikkat çekti.

“All That Cruise” says it will take over a 74-thousand ton cruise ship from a U.S. cruise operator in November.

The South Korean cruise operator said Tuesday that it plans to launch the vessel next January.

The ship, dubbed “Hallyu Star,” is currently navigating in the Caribbean Sea. It will be the largest cruise ship in Asia when it arrives. The Hallyu Star is 268 meters long by 32 meters wide and has 13 floors with one-thousand-193 rooms capable of accommodatubg two-thousand-744 people.

All That Cruise is planning to hold Korean pop concerts on board, including S.M. Entertainment bands and singers such as Girls’ Generation, Boa and TVXQ.

The operator noted that it signed a memorandum of understanding with S.M. Art Company, a subsidiary of S.M. Entertainment that organizes concerts, on holding the pop concerts on the ship.

Kore Hava Yolu Sirketi net karini yüzde 49.5 oraninda arttirdi

Güney Kore'nin en iyi nakliye sirketi olan Kore Hava Yolu Sirketi sali günü, kazançlarinin artmasi ve sermaye yatirimlarindan elde edilen kazançlarla, net karlarinin bir yil öncesine göre ilk çeyrekte yüzde 49.5 oraninda arttigini söyledi.

Kore Hava Yolu Sirketi'nden yapilan açiklamaya göre, net kar bir önceki yil 188 milyar won degerinde iken bu yil ise Ocak-Mart döneminde 282 milyar won (263.8 milyon dolar) degerinde geldi.

Korean Air Q1 net rises 49.5 pct

Korean Air Lines Co., South Korea's top carrier, said Tuesday that its net profit rose 49.5 percent in the first quarter from a year ago thanks to a stronger won and gains from equity investments.

Net profit came to 282 billion won (US$263.8 million) in the January-March period, compared with 188.7 billion won during the same period a year ago, Korean Air said in a statement.

Taeyoung Engineering wins US$91.24 mln order from Oman

South Korea's Taeyoung Engineering & Construction Co., said Tuesday that it has signed a US$91.24 million order to build a water supply system in northern Oman.

Under the deal with the Omani government, Taeyoung will complete the system by 2013, the company said in a statement.

Doosan Heavy Q1 net sinks 19 pct

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South Korea's leading power equipment maker, said Tuesday that its first-quarter earnings dropped 19.1 percent from a year earlier due to losses from equity ties with affiliates and reduced sales.

Net profit reached 133 billion won (US$125 million) in the January-March period, compared with a profit of 166 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.
