Overseas Sejong Institutes to Top 100 This Year

Yurtdışındaki Sejong Enstitülerinin Bu Yıl Yüzü Aşması Bekleniyor

Perşembe günü yetkililerin yaptığı açıklamaya göre, Kore pop kültürünün küreselleşmesiyle birlikte Güney Kore hükümetinin desteklediği Korece dil kursları veren enstitülerin sayısının bu yıl yüzü aşması bekleniyor.

Kültür, Spor ve Turizm Bakanlığı, hükümetin dünya çapında 20 ülkede 27'den fazla Kral Sejong Enstitüsü açarak, şu anki rakamı 117'ye yükselteceğini söyledi.

The number of South Korea's government-funded overseas institutes that offer Korean language courses is expected to exceed 100 this year amid the global boom of Korean pop culture, officials said Thursday.

The government will open 27 more King Sejong Institutes in 20 countries across the world, increasing the number of the institutes to 117, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said.

S. Korea's Incheon City Named World Book Capital for 2015

G. Kore'nin Incheon Şehri 2015 Dünya Kitap Başkenti Seçildi

Güney Kore'nin batı liman kenti Incheon, Birleşmiş Milletler Eğitim, Bilim ve Kültür Örgütü (UNESCO) tarafından 2015 Dünya Kitap Başkenti olarak seçildi.

Seoul'ün batısındaki Incheon, Paris, Fransa'da kitap endüstrisini temsil eden uzmanlardan oluşan Seçici Kurul ve BM kuruluşunun bu hafta başında bir araya gelmesinden sonra unvanı aldı.

South Korea's western port city of Incheon has been chosen to be the World Book Capital for 2015 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), city officials said Saturday.

Incheon, just west of Seoul, assumed the title after the Selection Committee composed of experts representing the book industry and the U.N. agency met earlier this week in Paris, France.

Boryeong Mud Festival Covered by 200 Foreign Media

Boryeong Çamur Festivali 200 Yabancı Medya Tarafından İzlendi

Güney Chungcheong Eyaletinde geçen cuma günü başlayan, her yıl düzenlenen Boryeong Çamur Festivali dünyanın her yanından yabancı medyadan yoğun ilgi görüyor.

Organizasyon komitesi perşembe günü ABD'den CNN ve the Wall Street Journal ve İngiltere'den BBC de dahil 30 kadar ülkeden yaklaşık 200 medya kanalının festivali izlediğini açıkladı.

Fotoğraf ajansı Getty Images ve ABD'nin yayın şirketleri ABC ve CNN'in yanı sıra dünyanın önde gelen 3 haber ajansı Reuters, AP ve AFP etkinliğe muhabirlerini gönderdi.

Festival pazar günü sona eriyor.

The annual Boryeong Mud Festival, which kicked off last Friday in South Chungcheong Province, is drawing keen attention from foreign media around the world.

The organizing committee on Thursday said that the festival has been covered by about 200 media outlets from some 30 countries, including CNN and the Wall Street Journal of the U.S. and the BBC of Great Britain.

The world’s three leading news agencies Reuters, AP and AFP, as well as photo agency Getty Images, and U.S. broadcasters ABC and CNN sent reporters to the event.

The festival ends on Sunday.

Istanbul-Gyeongju Kültür Expo Tanıtılıyor

Seoul'deki Türk Büyükelçiliği ve Güney Kore'nin Kuzey Gyeongsang Bölgesi yönetimi, 9 Ağustos 2013 günü, yaklaşan Istanbul-Gyeongju Dünya Kültür Expo'su için Seoul'ün merkezinde kampanyalar düzenleyerek tanıtım yaptı. İstanbul'da 31 Ağustos- 22 Eylül tarihleri arasında yapılacak olan expo'da; başkenti Seoul'ün 371 km güneydoğusundaki Gyeongju olan Kore'nin Silla Hanedanlığı'nın (57 MÖ.-MS. 935) tarihi ve kültürü ön plana çıkacak.

Officials from the Turkish Embassy in Seoul and South Korea's North Gyeongsang Provincial government stage a campaign to promote the upcoming Istanbul-Gyeongju World Culture Expo in downtown Seoul on Aug. 9, 2013. The expo set for Aug. 31-Sept. 22 in Istanbul will feature the history and culture of Korea's Silla Dynasty (57 B.C.-A.D. 935), whose capital was Gyeongju, 371 km southeast of Seoul.

Chuseok İçin Alışverişe Çıkıldı

Kurutulmuş balıktan meyvelere, çeşitli paketlenmiş hediyeler, Seoul'ün güneyindeki Hanaro süpermarkette, 11 Ağustos 2013 günü Kore'de iyi hasat için en çok kutlanan bayramlardan Chuseok için alışveriş yapanlara sergilendi. Bu senenin Chuseok bayramı Eylülün 18-20'sine denk geliyor, her zamanki gibi milyonlarca kişinin akrabalarıyla birlikte olmak için memleketlerine gideceği tahmin ediliyor. Pek çok Koreli, bayram öncesi son dakika telaşına kapılmamak için hediyeleri erkenden sipariş ediyor.

This year's Chuseok holidays fall on Sept. 18-20, and as usual, millions are expected to travel to their hometowns to be with their extended family. Many Koreans preorder gifts well ahead of the holidays to avoid a last-minute rush.
