Performances at royal banquet hall

Eski Kore’nin Kraliyet Sarayinda Gösteriler

Seoul merkezindeki tarihi kraliyet ziyafet salonunun 600. yil dönümünü kutlamak adina bu ayin sonuna dogru birkaç gösteri düzenlenecek.
Halk sanatlari gösterisi 28-30 Mart aksam saat 8’de Joseon Kralligi (1392-1910) döneminde elçileri karsilamak için ve baska devlet törenleri için de kullanilan ve 224 numarali Halk Hazinesi olarak belirlenen Gyeongbok Sarayinin bas binasi Gyeonghoeru’da baslayacak.

‘Gyeonghoeru Yeonhyang’ programina saray yapilarinin arasinda gösterilen Joseon’un saray müzigiyle dansi sahnede olacak. Üç bölünden olusan ve Joseon Kralligi'nin uzun süre devam etmesi için yapilan törenleri, yabanci misafirleri ugurlama usulünü ve 19. yüzyilda Kral Gojong’un emriyle Gyeonghoeru binasinin yeniden yapilmasinin hikayesini anlatan gösteri sergilenecek.

Ülkenin önde gelen sanatçilari da katilacak. ‘Pansori’ (Kore operasi)'nin efsanevi ustasi Ahn Sook-seon 19. yüzyilin saray sanatçisi Jin Chae-seon’un sarkisini söylerken Kim Hye-ran halk müziginden parçalar söyleyecek. Gelenler bundan baska ‘jultagi’ denilen eski Kore ip cambazi gösterisini izleyebilecekler.

A series of performances will take place later this month to celebrate the 600th anniversary of an iconic royal banquet hall in downtown Seoul.

Traditional shows will be held at 8 p.m., March 28-30, at Gyeonghoeru, which served as Gyeongbok Palace’s main venue for hosting diplomats and other state ceremonies during the Joseon Kingdom (1392-1910) and is designated National Treasure No. 224.

“Gyeonghoeru Yeonhyang” will comprise of Joseon court music and dance amid the scenic backdrop of the building and its surroundings. The three-part program will feature reenactments of ceremonies feting the longevity of the Joseon Kingdom and the palace, banquets for foreign dignitaries and the 19th-century reconstruction of Gyeonghoeru under King Gojong.

The country’s foremost artists will take the stage for the occasion. Legendary “pansori” (Korean opera) master Ahn Sook-seon is set to sing pieces by late 19th-century court singer Jin Chae-seon while Kim Hye-ran will offer vocal folk pieces. Visitors can also enjoy watching “jultagi” or theatrical acrobatic tightrope walking.

Güney Kore'nin ünlü müzisyeni, Seoul Filarmonik Orkestrasi'nin bas sefi Chung Myung-whun'un yardimiyla Kuzey Koreli Unhasu Orkestrasi J. Brahm'in Birinci Semfonisi’nin yani sira Kore halk müziginden de akortlar çaldi.

Kuzey Koreli Orkestra Fransa Radyosu Filarmonik Orkestrasiyla birlikte konserin son akordu olarak ünlü Kore halk müzigi 'Ariring'i çaldi ve seyircileri derinden etkiledi.

A South Korean conductor and a North Korean orchestra created an impressive harmony of music in Paris on Wednesday evening (local time). Under the baton of South Korean maestro Chung Myung-whun, music director and chief conductor of Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, North Korea's Unhasu Orchestra performed Korean traditional tunes in addition to J. Brahms' Symphony No. 1.

The North Korean orchestra in cooperation with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra played Arirang, a popular Korean folk tune, as the final repertoire of the concert, which reportedly moved the audience deeply.

K-Culture Wave Attempt for Asian Countries to Rise From Western Culture

Asya kültürü, Güney Kore kültürünün popülaritesindeki ani artistan etkilenmis bir akim ile Bati kültüründen uzaklasiyor.

Tokyo Üniversitesi Profesörü Sonoda Shigeto'nun Güney Kore kültürü üzerine düzenlenen sempozyumda yaptigi konusmaya göre, daha önce Amerikan pop kültüründen derinden etkilenen Asya kültürü, Güney Kore dizileri veya pop sarkilari yoluyla "Asyalasmis" olma girisiminde.

Japon film elestirmeni ve film teorisyeni Tadao Sato: "Amerikan filmlerinde güçlü erkek kahraman gerçek aski kazanir." dedi. Ancak Asya kültüründe daha çok "sevimli" erkek karakterlerinin asik olmasi durumuna dikkat çekerek, Japonya'daki Winter Sonata dramasinin popülaritesini bu durumla açikladi.

Asian culture is gearing away from a Western culture-centered past through a movement influenced by the sudden rise in popularity of South Korean culture.

According to a speech made at a symposium on South Korean culture by Professor Sonoda Shigeto of Tokyo University, Asian countries, which were previously deeply influenced by U.S. pop culture, are attempting to become “Asia-fied” through South Korean dramas or pop songs.

Japanese film critic and film theorist Sato Tadao said in U.S. films, the strong male protagonist wins true love. However, he noted, in Asian culture, there are more situations where the “pretty” male characters fall in love, thus explaining the popularity of drama Winter Sonata in Japan.

‘Without distance’ sloganiyla Güney Gyeongsang Eyaleti Tongyeong sehrinde cuma gününden baslayip 29 Mart'a kadar sürecek olan 10. Tongyeong Uluslararasi Müzik Festivali'nde Asya müzigi önemli kategorilerdem biri olacak.

Festival organizatörleri sali günü yaptiklari açiklamada, 10 yillik tarihi olan festival simdi de uluslararasi müzik sahnesinde daha az ilgi gören Asya müzigine gün yüzüne çikariyor, dediler.

Asian music will be among the highlights of the 10th Tongyeong International Music Festival (TIMF) to be held under the theme of "without distance" from Friday through March 29 in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province.

The organizers of the festival said Tuesday the 10-year-old festival is now turning its eyes toward Asian music, which has received less attention in the international music scene.

Korea's Jewish community marks new chapter with Torah scroll

Güney Kore'nin yahudi cemaati için 4 Mart tarihi bir gündü. Ülkede yasayan yahudiler, komsu ülkelerden hahamlar ve Israil büyükelçisi, uygun birini Yahudi geleneklerine göre geçici sinagog yapan töreni, kendi el yazmasi Tevrat tomarlariyla birlikte, izlemek için hazir bulundu.
Tomarlar Israil'de iyi egitilmis bir katip tarafindan elle yazilarak titizlikle hazirlandi. Tamamlanmasi yillar sürdü. Seoul'ün sehir merkezinde, Itaewon'daki tören için, son sayfa bos birakildi. Törene katilan yahudiler sirayla kutsal tomarin son sayfasini olusturan Ibranice harfleri yazdilar. Tamamlanmis haliyle Kore'nin ilk Tevrati'ni geleneksel Yahudi sarkilari esliginde Iteawon caddelerinde sergilediler.

For South Korea's Jewish community, March 4 was an historic day. Jews residing in the country, rabbis from neighboring nations, and the Israeli ambassador were all on hand to observe the ceremony that makes temporary synagogue a proper one by Jewish custom -- having their own handwritten Torah scroll.

The scroll had been painstakingly prepared, written by hand in Israel by a highly trained scribe. The process can sometimes take years to complete. For the ceremony in Itaewon, downtown Seoul, the final page was left blank. Jews in attendance took turns writing the Hebrew letters that would make up the last page of this sacred scroll. Upon its completion, Korea's first Torah was paraded through the streets of Itaewon as they sang traditional Jewish songs.

Hangeul Organizations Call For Designation Of Hangeul Day As Legal Holiday

Kore alfabesi Hangeul'i tanitan bir grup sivil toplum kurulusu, çarsamba günü Hangeul Günü'nün resmi tatil olarak belirlenmesi için ortak kompanya yürütmek amaciyla ulusal bir koalisyon kurdu.

Hangeul topluluklari ve Hangeul'i tanitan diger gruplarin üyelerinin kurdugu birlik, Seoul'deki açilis töreninde bu talepte bulundu.

A group of civilian organizations devoted to the promotion of hangeul, the Korean alphabet, launched a national coalition on Wednesday to conduct a joint campaign to have Hangeul Day designated as a legal holiday.

The alliance, made up of the Hangeul Society and other hangeul promotion groups and individual members, made the demand during a launching ceremony in Seoul.

Ziyaretçiler, Güney Kore'nin güney kiyilarindaki sahil kasabasi Goseong'da açilan ve içinde gerçek boyutlarda dinazorlarin oldugu Goseong Dinazor Dünya Sergisi'ni gezdiler. Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival Opens Saturday

Jinhae Kiraz Çiçegi Festivali Cumartesi Günü Basliyor

On gün sürecek 50’nci Jinhae Limani Festivali, bir K-pop konseriyle cumartesi günü baslayacak.

Güney Gyeongsang Eyaleti, Changwon, Jinhae-gu’da bulunan Jungwon rotary plaza’daki konser, festivalin açilis töreni kapsaminda ögleden sonra saat 5’te baslayacak.

Pazar aksami, havai fisek gösteri yapilacak ve Yeojwa Çayi isiklarla süslenecek.

Kore Cumhuriyeti Deniz Akademisi’nin yani sira Deniz Üs Komutanligi’nin da genelde sivillere kapali olan sahalari festival süresince halka açik olacak.

The ten-day 50th Jinhae Port Festival will kick off on Saturday with a K-pop concert.

The concert at Jungwon rotary plaza in Jinhae-gu in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province will start at 5 p.m. as part of the festival's opening ceremony.

On Sunday evening, there will be a fireworks show, and light attractions will be put on display at the Yeojwa Stream.

The Naval Base Command as well as the Republic of Korea Naval Academy grounds, which are usually closed off to civilians, will be open to the public during the festival.
