Typhoon Warning Issued for Waters South of Jeju Island

Jeju Adası'nın Güney Sularında Tayfun Uyarısı

Kore Meteoroloji Müdürlüğü (KMA) cuma günü Jeju Adası için güney sularında tayfun uyarısında bulundu.

Tayfun Danas, Şanghay kıyılarından kuzey sularına doğru gelirken; KMA, cuma ve cumartesi günü 6 metre yükseliğinde dalgayla Jeju yakınlarındaki sularda 10-20 metre arasında güçlü rüzgarları öngörüyor.

Cuma günü sert hava koşulları nedeniyle, Jeju'yu anakara Kore'ye bağlayan sekiz feribot yolundan altısı kapatıldı.

Ada yakınlarında iki bin balıkçı teknesi limanlara sığındı ve tayfun geçene kadar sahiller de kapatıldı.

Tayfun uyarısının öğleden sonra Jeju Adası'nın tüm bölgelerini kapsaması bekleniyor.

KMA'nın söylediğine göre; Tayfun Danas, cuma günü sabah 9'dan itibaren merkezde 990 hektar atmosferik basınç ile saat başında 30 km hızlı ile kuzeyde hareket halinde.

The Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) on Friday morning issued a typhoon warning for waters south of Jeju Island.

With Typhoon Danas traveling northward from waters off the coast of Shanghai, the KMA forecast strong winds of between ten to 20 meters per second over waters near Jeju on Friday and Saturday, with waves as high as six meters.

As a result of the inclement weather, six out of the eight ferry routes linking Jeju with mainland Korea were closed on Friday.

About two-thousand fishing boats are sheltered in ports around the island and beaches are also closed until the typhoon passes.

The typhoon warning is expected to encompass all parts of Jeju Island by the afternoon.

The KMA said Typhoon Danas was traveling northward at speeds close to 30 kilometers per hour with an atmospheric pressure of 990 hectopascals at its center as of 9 a.m. Friday.

S. Korea, China to Hold Forum on Transboundary Fine Dust

Güney Kore - Çin İnce Tozlar Hakkında Forum Düzenliyor

Güney Kore ve Çin'den bilim insanları pazartesi günü sınır ötesi ince toz taneciklerini tartışmak için toplantı yapacak.

Çevre Bakanlığına bağlı Ulusal Çevre Araştırmaları Enstitüsü'nün pazartesi günü yaptığı açıklamaya göre; iki ülkeden yaklaşık 20 bilim insanı Seoul'da iki gün düzenlenecek olan Çin-Kore Hava Kalitesi Forumuna katılacak.

Enstitü'nün söylediğine göre; bilim insanlarının, ince toz tahmini ve uydu verilerini de içerek hava kirliliği üzerine araştırma ve çalışmalarının sonuçlarını paylaşacaklarını söyledi.

Özellikle, bilim insanları Kuzeydoğu Asya'daki ince toz tanecikleri üzerine yapılan çeşitli çalışmaların sonuçlarını sunacaklar. Katılımcılar ayrıca kendi ülkelerindeki hava kirleticilerini etkin bir şekilde azaltmanın yollarını önerecekler.

İkinci forum gelecek sene şubat ayında Pekin'de düzenlenecek.

Scientists from South Korea and China will hold an open debate on Monday to discuss the issue of transboundary fine dust particles.

The National Institute of Environmental Research under the Environment Ministry said on Monday that about 20 scientists from the two nations will hold the inaugural Sino-Korean Air Quality Forum in Seoul for two days.

The institute said that the scientists will share the results of their research and studies on air pollution, including fine dust forecasts and satellite data.

In particular, the scientists will present the results of diverse studies on transboundary fine dust particulates in Northeast Asia. The participants will also suggest ways to effectively reduce air pollutants in their countries.

The second forum will be held in Beijing in February next year.

Heavy Rains Forecast For Central Region

Merkez Bölge İçin Şiddetli Yağış Tahmini

Devlet tarafından işletilen bir hava durumu ajansı, Salı gecesi ve Çarşamba sabahı arasında ülkenin merkez bölgesine 200 millimetreden  fazla yağmur yağmasının beklendiğini söyledi.

Kore Meteoroloji İdaresi, Salı günü  sabah saat 10: 00’dan bu yana, bölgedeki bazı kesimlerinde durağan bir cephe nedeniyle yağmur yağdığını açıkladı.

Ajans "Cephenin  batıdan yaklaşan kuru hava ile çarpışması öngörüldüğü için  gece bir yağış bölgesinin oluşması bekleniyor." Şeklinde açıklama yaptı.

Sonuç olarak, saatte 30-50 mm yağmurun, Seul ve Gyeonggi, Gangwon ve Chungcheong İllerini kapsayan merkezi bölgeyi  Salı günü akşam 9: 00 ile Çarşamba günü sabah 9:00 a kadar vurması bekleniyor diyen ajans, olası heyelanlara ve sellere karşı da uyarıda bulundu.
Kuzeybatı bir rüzgarının ardından yağmurun Çarşamba öğleden sonra güney bölgeye yayılması bekleniyor.

More than 200 millimeters of rain is expected to hit the country's central region between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, a state-run weather agency said.

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, some parts of the region had already seen rain due to a stationary front, the Korea Meteorological Administration said.

"A precipitation zone is expected to form at night as the front is forecast to clash with dry air approaching from the west," the agency said.

As a consequence, 30-50 mm of rain per hour is expected to batter the central area covering Seoul and Gyeonggi, Gangwon and Chungcheong Provinces between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday, the agency said, warning of possible landslides and flooding.

A northwest wind is then forecast to spread the rain to the southern region on Wednesday afternoon.

It will be cloudy all over the country on Thursday, the eve of Chuseok, Korea's autumn harvest celebration, with rain expected on the west coast, according to the agency.

But people will be able to enjoy a full moon across the nation on one of the country's two biggest traditional holidays, it added.

Cold Wave Hits S. Korea on New Year's Eve

Soğuk Hava Dalgası Yeni Yılda Güney Kore'yi Vurdu

Merkürün Yeni Yıl Arifesinde keskin bir şekilde düşmesi beklendiği için Salı günü ülkenin çoğu bölgesinde soğuk hava dalgasının hakim olması bekleniyor.

Kore Meteoroloji İdaresi sıcaklığın salı günü on santigrat dereceden fazla düşeceğini öngördüğü için sezonun ilk soğuk hava dalgası pazartesi gecesi yayınlandı.

Ülkenin çoğu kesimindeki salı günü sabah saatlerinin sıfırın altına düşmesi ve öğleden sonra donma noktasının altında kalması bekleniyor.

Seul'de, cıva, sabahları eksi dokuz puan beş santigrat dereceye düştü ve rüzgar soğuk sıcaklığı eksi 16 dereceye düştü.

Sabah 5'ten itibaren sıcaklıklar Chuncheon'da eksi sekiz nokta üç dereceye, Daejeon'da eksi beş nokta bir derece ve Daegu'da eksi iki nokta yedi dereceye düştü.

Öğleden sonra sıcaklıklarının eksi dört derece ile sıfırın dört derece üzerine çıkması bekleniyor.

Hava durumu ajansı, ülkenin birçok bölgesinin kuvvetli rüzgarlardan etkileneceğini ve rüzgar soğutma faktörünün daha da düşük sıcaklıklara neden olacağını söyledi.

A cold wave advisory has been issued for most parts of the country on Tuesday as the mercury is expected to drop sharply on New Year's Eve.

The season's first cold wave advisory was issued on Monday night as the Korea Meteorological Administration predicted the temperature will drop by more than ten degrees Celsius on Tuesday from the day before.

Morning lows in most parts of the nation fell below zero on Tuesday and are expected to remain below freezing even in the afternoon.

In Seoul, the mercury dropped to minus nine-point-five Celsius degrees in the morning with the wind chill temperature falling to minus 16 degrees.

As of 5 a.m., temperatures plummeted to minus eight-point-three degrees in Chuncheon, minus five-point-one degrees in Daejeon and minus two-point-seven degrees in Daegu.

Afternoon temperatures are expected to rise to between minus four degrees and four degrees above zero.

The weather agency said that many parts of the country will be affected by strong winds, with the wind chill factor causing even lower temperatures.

Heavy Rains Forecast for Chungcheong, Southern Regions

Chungcheong, Güney Bölgelerde Şiddetli Yağış Bekleniyor

Pazar gecesinden itibaren Güney Kore’nin bazı yerlerinde yağış bekleniyor.

Kore Meteoroloji Uzmanlığının tahminlerine göre; Salı gününe kadar ülkenin güney taraflarında; Chungcheong eyaleti, Jeju Adası ve Gangwon Eyaletinin doğu bölgelerinde 300 mmye kadar yoğun yağış bekleniyor.

Seoul, Gyeonggi Eyaleti, Gangwon Eyaleti’nin batı kısımları ve batı sınır bölgesindeki beş adada ise 50 ile 100 mm arası yağış bekleniyor.

Hava Uzmanları, Pazar günü öğlen ve gece arasında güney bölgelerde saatte 30 mm şiddetli yağış beklendiğini açıkladı. Şiddetli yağış, pazartesi günü fırtına ve şimşekle birlikte saatte 80mmye çıkabilir.

Yağış sebebiyle, Pazar günü sıcaklık düşüşü yaşanırken pazartesi günü hava sıcaklığının 19-26 santigrat derece olması bekleniyor.

The Korea Meteorological Administration projected up to 300 millimeters of heavy rains for southern regions, Chungcheong Province, Jeju Island and eastern parts of Gangwon Province until Tuesday evening.

Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, western parts of Gangwon Province and five islands in the western border area are expected to receive 50 to 100 millimeters.

The weather agency predicted torrential rains of 30 millimeters per hour to hit the southern regions between Sunday afternoon and night, with up to 80 millimeters of rains per hour likely to pelt early Monday along with lightning and thunder.

Due to the rain, afternoon high temperatures are forecast to drop from Sunday to reach a predicted 19 to 26 degrees Celsius for Monday.
