Ruling Party Warns against Illegal Activity during Election Period

Iktidar Partisi Seçim Döneminde Yasadisi Etkinlikler Konusunda Uyarida Bulundu

Iktidardaki Saenuri Partisinin acil liderlik komitesi baskani Park Geun-hye, eger herhangi bir yasadisi etkinlikte yer aldiklari ortaya çikarsa genel seçim adaylarinin diskalifiye olacagini bildirdi.

Park persembe günkü acil durum konseyi toplantisi sirasinda, iktidar partisi için genel seçim amacinin yalnizca zafer degil ayni zamanda halkin güvenini tekrar kazanmak oldugunu söyledi.

Bu sirada, eski temsilciler Lee Gyu-taek ve Um Ho-sung iktidar partisine tekrar katildilar. Her ikisi de 18. Ulusal Mecliste görev yapmak için eski Büyük Ulusal Parti tarafindan aday gösterilmemelerinden sonra Park öncesi grup olusturmak için ugrasti.

Iktidar partisi acil durum konseyi sözcüsü Hwang Young-chul, Lee ve Um'un da içlerinde bulundugu partiye tekrar katilmak için basvuran toplam 29 adaydan 26'sini partinin onayladigini bildirdi.

The leader of the ruling Saenuri Party's emergency leadership committee, Park Geun-hye, has called for the disqualification of general election candidates if its discovered they were involved in any illegal activity.

Park said during an emergency council meeting Thursday that the purpose of the general elections for the ruling party is not mere victory but also regaining the public's trust.

Meanwhile, former representatives Lee Gyu-taek and Um Ho-sung have rejoined the ruling party. Both men tried to form a pro-Park faction after failing to be nominated by the former Grand National Party to run for the 18th National Assembly.

Ruling party emergency council spokesman Hwang Young-chul announced that the party has approved 26 of the total 29 representatives who applied to rejoin the party, including Lee and Um.

DUP Leader Hopes to Win Majority in General Elections

DBP Lideri Genel Seçimlerde Çogunluk Saglamayi Bekliyor

Ana muhalefet Demokratik Birlesmis Partinin baskani Han Myung-sook, Nisan genel seçimlerinde parlamento koltuklarinin çogunu kazanma ümitlerini dile getirdi.

Persembe günü Seoul'de Kore Yayincilik Gazeteciler Kulübü'nün ev sahipligi yaptigi bir seminerde Han, kisisel dilegi DBP'nin çogunluk kazanmasi iken, DBP için öncelikli amacinin Ulusal Mecliste 1 numarali parti olmak oldugunu söyledi.

Han, partisinin çogunluk kazanmasi gerektigini söyledi. Dört nehir restorasyonu ve ahlaksizlik olaylarinda oldugu gibi DBP'nin elinden gelenin en iyisini yapacagini fakat bunun kolay bir seçim olmayacagini söyledi.

Baskan, genel seçimler öncesinde iktidar partisini destekleyip muhalefet partisini kötüledigi için devlet baskani Lee Myung-bak'i elestirerek devam etti. Devlet baskaninin siyasi olarak objektif kalmasi zorunluluguna ragmen Lee'nin hareketini siyasi müdahale ve seçim müdahalesi olarak adlandirdi.

Chairwoman Han Myung-sook of the main opposition Democratic United Party has expressed hope of winning a majority of seats in parliament during the April general elections.

During a seminar hosted by the Korea Broadcasting Journalists Club in Seoul on Thursday, Han said her number one goal is for the DUP to become the number one party at the National Assembly, while her personal wish is for the DUP to win a majority.

Han said her party has to win a majority , such as the four river restoration project and corruption, She said the DUP will do its best but it won't be an easy election.

The chairwoman went on to criticize President Lee Myung-bak for supporting the ruling party and denouncing the opposition party ahead of the general elections. She called Lee's action political and electoral intervention, despite the president's obligation to stay politically neutral.

Ruling, Opposition Camps Still at Odds over Redistricting

Iktidar ve muhalefet partileri seçim bölgelerinin tekrar düzenlenmesinde az farklilik gösteremediklerinden Ulusal Meclisin özel siyasi reform komitesi cuma günü toplanmayacak.

Özel komitenin üst düzey üyeleri, rakip kamplar bölge düzenlemesi için yerlerini degistirmeyeceklerinden toplantinin pazartesi gününe atildigini söyledi.

Parlamentodaki toplam koltuk sayisini 300'e yükseltme teklifi için partilerin haftasonu görüslerini ayarlamalari bekleniyor.

Bu gecikme, Ulusal Seçim Komisyonunun yurtdisindaki seçmenlerin listesinin olusturmasinda zorluk yaratiyor.

The National Assembly’s special committee on political reform won't meet on Friday as ruling and opposition parties have failed to narrow differences on redrawing electoral districts.

Top members of the special committee say it pushed back the full session to Monday since rival camps won't budge on their positions for redistricting.

Parties are expected to fine-tune views over the weekend on a proposal to expand the total number of seats in parliament to 300.

The holdup is making it difficult for the National Election Commission to draw up a list of overseas voters.

Devlet baskani Lee Myung-bak, üniversite ögrenci konseyi baskanlarini cumartesi günü baskanlik ofisine davet edecek.

Üst düzey bir baskanlik ofisi yetkilisi cuma günü, Lee'nin genç neslin ihtiyaç duyduklari seyler ve karsilastiklari zorluklar üzerine fikirlerini beyan edecegini söyledi.

Yetkili, devlet baskaninin ülke genelindeki üniversitelerden 70 ila 80 ögrenci konseyi baskaniyla görüsmeyi planladigini söyledi. Yetkili, hükümetin ilgili politikalarda ögrenci liderlerinin fikirlerini yansitmayi planladigini söyledi.

President Lee Myung-bak will invite the presidents of university student councils to the presidential office on Saturday.

A senior official at the presidential office said Friday that Lee will heed opinions on what the younger generation needs and the difficulties they are facing.

The official said the president is planning to meet with 70 to 80 student council heads from universities nationwide. The official said the government plans to reflect the opinions of the student leaders in related policies.

DUP Releases 2nd List of Candidate Nominations

DBP 2. Aday Listesini Açikladi

Ana muhalefet Demokratik Birlesmis Parti, Nisandaki 11. parlamento seçimlerinde adayliklarini koyacak olanlarin 2. aday listesini duyurdu.

Parti cuma sabahi yüksek sura toplantisi düzenledi ve 74 seçim bölgesi için aday listesi belirledi. 54 bölgede yalnizca tek aday basvurdu ve parti, diger 20 bölge için ön seçimlerde adayligini koyacak 46 kisi gösterdi.

Cuma günü duyurulan liste, baskent Seoul ve Gyeonggi, Chungcheong ve Gangwon eyaletlerini de içeren seçim bölgelerini kapsiyor. DBP Genel Sekreteri Im Jong-seok ve Yüksek Sura üyeleri Park Young-sun ve Lee In-young da dahil çok sayida parti lideri adayliklarini koydu.

DBP, Gyeongsang Eyaletindeki 50 seçim bölgesi için ilk aday listesini çarsamba günü duyurmustu.

The main opposition Democratic United Party has announced its second list of candidates nominated to run in the April eleventh parliamentary elections.

The party held a meeting of its Supreme Council Friday morning and slated a list of candidates for 74 electoral districts. In 54 districts only one candidate applied, and the party nominated 46 people to run in primaries for the 20 other districts.

The list announced Friday covers constituencies including capital Seoul and Gyeonggi, Chungcheong and Gangwon provinces. A good number of party leaders including DUP Secretary-General Im Jong-seok and Supreme Council members Park Young-sun and Lee In-young were nominated.

The DUP announced its first list of candidate nominations on Wednesday for 50 districts in the Gyeongsang provinces.

Baskanlik ofisi, toplantinin geçen araliktan bu yana ögrenci konseyleri ve baskanlik ofisi arasinda düzenlenen 8 bölgesel toplantinin ardindan ögrenci temsilcilerinin devlet baskaniyla konusma firsatina sahip olmasi için oldugunu söyledi.

President Lee Myung-bak met with roughly 160 student council representatives at the presidential office on Saturday to discuss tuition, student loans, student housing and jobs for graduates.

The presidential office said the meeting was for student representatives to have a chance to speak with the president following eight regional talks between student councils and the presidential office that have been held since last December.

Officials from the ministries of education, labor and land as well as the Small and Medium Business Administration were also present at the meeting.

Pres. Lee Appoints New Vice Foreign Ministers

Devlet Baskani Lee, Yeni Dis Isleri Bakan Yardimcilarini Atadi

Devlet baskani Lee Myung-bak, Güney Kore'nin yeni ilk ve ikinci dis isleri bakan yardimcilarini belirledi.

Baskanlik ofisi, dis islerdeki tecrübesi ve kurulus idaresindeki yetenekleri nedeniyle ülkenin AB ve Belçika elçisi Ahn Ho-young'in ilk dis isleri bakani yardimcisi oldugunu söyledi.

Ofis, Korea Üniversitesi Uluslararasi Iliskiler profesörü Kim Sung-han'in da hükümet disindaki uzmanligi ile ikinci dis isleri bakani yardimcisi olarak görevlendirildigini söyledi.

Baskanlik ofisinin önemli bir yetkilisi Dis Isleri Bakanliginda "degisim zamani" geldiginden iki bakan yardimcisinin da ayni anda seçildigini söyledi.

Baskanlik ofisi, Korea Vakfi baskani Kim Byoung-kook'un da yilin ikinci yarisinda açilacak olan Kore Ulusal Diplomat Akademisinin ilk baskani oldugunu söyledi.

President Lee Myung-bak has named South Korea's new first and second vice foreign ministers.

The presidential office announced Friday that Ahn Ho-young, the nation's ambassador to the European Union and Belgium, was selected as first vice foreign minister because of his experience in foreign relations and his skills in organization management.

The office also said that Kim Sung-han, a professor of international relations at Korea University, was tapped as second vice foreign minister for his expertise outside of the government.

A key official of the presidential office said the two vice ministers were selected simultaneously because it was "time for a change" within the Foreign Ministry.

The presidential office also said Kim Byoung-kook, president of the Korea Foundation, was named as the first head of the Korea National Diplomat Academy, which will open in the second half of this year.

Political Parties to Wrap Up Nomination Process

Siyasi Partiler Adaylik Süreçlerini Bitirecek

Nisandaki 11. genel seçimlere yaklasik 40 gün kalmasiyla birlikte, iktidar ve muhalefet partileri seçim adaylari için adaylik süreçlerini tamamlamaya çalisiyor.

Saenuri Partisi, adaylarinin bir kismini ve stratejik seçim bölgelerinden yaklasik 20sini açiklayacak.

Adaylik komiteleri 31 bölgeden adaylarin onaylama süreçlerini tamamladi ve basarili bir seçim çikarmak için yaklasik 20 stratejik bölge seçti.

Iki bildiriyle 94 aday açiklayan Demokratik Birlesmis Parti adaylar için 3. bir bildiri duyuracak.

Muhalefet partisinin de ülkenin güneybati kesiminden muhtemel adaylarla görüsmesi bekleniyor.

Özgürlükçü Ilerici Parti, Daejeon'dan Lim Young-ho, Kwon Seon-taek, Lee Jae-sun, Güney Chungcheong Eyaletinden Lee Myung-soo, Kim Nak-seong ve Lee In-je ile birlikte ilk bildirisinde 6 aday duyurdu.

With just roughly 40 days left until the April 11 general elections, ruling and opposition parties are rushing to complete their nomination process for election candidates.

The Saenuri Party will announce a portion of their candidates and about 20 of their strategic election grounds.

Their nomination committee completed the verification process for candidates from 31 locations and selected around twenty strategic areas to pull off a successful election.

The Democratic United Party, which has already announced 94 candidates through two announcements, will make a third announcement for candidates.

The opposition party is also expected to interview possible candidates from the southwestern part of the country.

The Liberty Forward Party has announced six candidates in an initial announcement, with Lim Young-ho, Kwon Seon-taek, Lee Jae-sun from Daejeon; and Lee Myung-soo, Kim Nak-seong and Lee In-je from south Chungcheong Province.

Ruling Party Unveils Portion of Candidates for General Elections

Iktidar Partisi, Genel Seçim Adaylarinin Bir Kismini Açikladi

Iktidardaki Saenuri Partisinin adaylik komitesi Nisan genel seçimlerinde adayliklarini koyacak olan parti adaylarinin bir kismini açikladi.

Partinin adaylik komitesi pazartesi günü, devlet baskani Lee Myung-bak'in destekçisi bir vekil olan Lee Jae-oh'un da içinde bulundugu 21 adaylik listesini duyurdu. Listedeki diger vekiller arasinda Lee Myung-bak dönemi öncesi vekiller Cha Myeong-jin ve Jeon Jae-hee bulunuyor. Listede Park Geun-hye öncesindeki vekiller Suh Byung-soo, Lee Hak-jae, Yoo Jeong-bok ve Kim Ho-yeon da bulunuyor.

Partinin acil liderlik komitesinin bazi üyeleri, Lee Jae-oh'un aday listesinde bulunmasina ve acil liderlik komitesinin adaylik komitesine seçimlerini tekrar gözden geçirmesini rica etmesi konusunda tepki gösterdi.

Adaylik komitesi baskani Jeong Hong-won, acil liderlik komitesi listeyi tamamlama yanlisi olmasa bile adaylik komitesinin 2/3'si onayladiginda kabul edilecegini söyledi.

Komite bu sirada pazartesi günü 22 stratejik bölge de açikladi.

The ruling Saenuri Party’s nominating committee has unveiled a portion of the party's candidates to run in the April general elections.

The party’s nomination committee disclosed on Monday a draft list of 21 candidates, including lawmaker Lee Jae-oh, who is a supporter of President Lee Myung-bak. Other lawmakers on the list include other pro-Lee Myung-bak legislators Cha Myeong-jin and Jeon Jae-hee. The list also included pro-Park Geun-hye lawmakers Suh Byung-soo, Lee Hak-jae, Yoo Jeong-bok and Kim Ho-yeon.

Some of the members of the party’s emergency leadership committee raised issue with the inclusion of Lee Jae-oh in the candidate roster and that led the emergency leadership committee to request the nomination committee to reconsider his selection.

The head of the nomination committee, Jeong Hong-won, said even if the emergency leadership committee does not vote to finalize the list, it can be passed if more than two-thirds of the nomination committee approves it.

Meanwhile, the committee also unveiled 22 strategic districts on Monday.
