Saenuri Party to Announce Second List of Candidates on Monday

Saenuri Partisi Pazartesi Günü Ikinci Aday Listesini Duyuracak

Iktidardaki Saenuri Partisi önümüzdeki pazartesi günü yaklasik 100 seçim bölgesi için 2. aday listesini açiklayacak.

Partinin adaylik komitesi, Nisan genel seçimlerinde adayliklarini koyacak olan adaylari basvuranlarin anketine dayanarak seçecek ve görevli vekillerin henüz basvuruda bulunmadigi bölgeler için ön seçimler düzenleyecek.

Komite pazar gününden itibaren önümüzdeki seçimler için görevli vekillerin %25'inin çikarilmasi sürecine de baslayacak.

Partinin genel sekreteri temsilci Kwon Young-se, anket sonuçlarini bekledikleri için ve ayni zamanda duyurunun ciddiyeti yüzünden açiklamanin geç kaldigini söyledi.

The ruling Saenuri Party will announce its second list of election nominees for roughly 100 districts this coming Monday.

The party's nomination committee will select candidates to run in the April general elections based on a survey of the applicants, and it will slate primaries for districts where incumbent legislators have not yet applied to run.

From Sunday, the committee will also begin the process of eliminating 25 percent of incumbent legislators for the upcoming election.

Representative Kwon Young-se, the party's secretary general, said the announcement was delayed because they had to wait for survey results and also due to the seriousness of the announcement.

DUP Continues Nomination Process Amidst Turmoil

DBP Kargasa Içinde Aday Sürecine Devem Ediyor

Ana muhalefet Demokratik Birlesmis Parti cumartesi günü Seouldeki genel merkezde genel seçimler için Güney Jeolla Eyaleti ve Gwangju Sehrindeki 12 bölgede adayliklarini koyacak adaylari seçmek üzere basvuranlarla görüsüyor.

Muhalefet partisinin adaylik süreci, eski temsilci Han Gwang-ok'un Nisanda parlamento için aday olamamasindan sonra partiyi birakacagini ilan etmesi de dahil birkaç engele takildi.

Üstelik eski baskan yardimcisi Lee Gang-cheol, seçim yasalarini ihlal ettigi ortaya çikan temsilci Lim Jong-seok'un partideki sekreterlik görevinden istifa etmesini ve seçim yarisindan çekilmesini talep etti.

Adaylik alamayan diger birkaç kisi, adaylik sürecinde yanliligin durdurulmasi ve halkin yapacagi bir açik seçim talep ederek parti genel merkezi disinda protestolar düzenlemekte.

The main opposition Democratic United Party is interviewing applicants at its Seoul headquarters on Saturday to select candidates to run in 12 districts in South Jeolla Province and Gwangju City for the general elections.

The nomination process for the opposition party has hit several snags along the way, including former Representative Han Gwang-ok's announcement to leave the party after he wasn't nominated to run for parliament this April.

Moreover, former Presidential aide Lee Gang-cheol demanded that Representative Lim Jong-seok, who was found guilty of breaking election fund laws, resign from his secretarial post in the party and pull out of the election contest.

Several others who failed to receive a nomination have been holding protests outside party headquarters, demanding a stop to factional favoritism in the nomination process and an open primary by the people.

Demokratik Birlesmis Parti liderliginin adaylik sürecini normale çevirme çabalarina ragmen bu durumdan memnun olmayan kidemli bir politikaci, en büyük liberal muhalefet partisinin 11 Nisan milletvekili seçimlerinin adayliklari üzerine artan ayriligi gerekçe göstererek dün partiden ayrilmaya karar verdi.

Kim Dae-jung'a sadik olan kidemli DBP üyesi Han Gwang-ok dün, adaylik sürecine protesto olarak partiden ayrilacagini ve genel seçimlerde bagimsiz aday olacagini ilan eden bir basin konferansi düzenledi.

Despite the efforts of the Democratic United Party leadership to normalize the candidate nomination process, a disgruntled senior politician decided to leave the party yesterday, indicating a growing fissure in the largest liberal opposition party over the candidacies for the April 11 legislative elections.

Han Gwang-ok, a senior DUP member who is a Kim Dae-jung loyalist, held a press conference yesterday declaring that he will leave the party in protest of the nomination process and will run independently in the general elections.

Rakip partiler bugün Nisan parlamento seçimleri için ek adaylarin yeni listelerini duyurdu.

Iktidardaki Saenuri Partisinin adaylik komitesi 81 adaylik 2. listesini açikladi.

Parti pazartesi günü Seoul'un kalbinde yer alan Jongno bölgesinde adayligini koymasi için eski vekil Hong Sa-duk'u seçti. Busan, Saha Gap için Uluslararasi Olimpiyat Komitesi üyesi Moon Dae-sung'un yani sira Busan, Sasang'da 27 yasindaki yeni politikaci Sohn Soo-jo da aday gösterildi.

Sohn, ana muhalefet Demokratik Birlesmis Partideki önemli vekil Moon Jae-in'e karsi yarisacak.

Adaylik komitesi baskani Jung Hong-won gazetecilere, komitenin adaylari seçerken her seyden önemlisi bireyin bütünlügünü ve ahlaki degerlerini dikkate aldigini söyledi. Jung kararlarin halk anketlerinin sonuçlarini yansittigini da söyledi.

Fakat parti bileti alamayacak görevli DBP vekillerinin sayisi partinin ön seçim düzenlemeye karar verdigi bölgelerde artabilir.

The rival parties announced today new lists of additional candidates for the April parliamentary elections.

The ruling Saenuri Party’s nomination committee has released its second list of 81 candidates.

The party on Monday nominated veteran lawmaker Hong Sa-duk to campaign in the Jongno district, located in the heart of Seoul. It also nominated 27-year-old political newcomer Sohn Soo-jo to run in Sasang, Busan as well as International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Moon Dae-sung for Saha Gap, Busan.

Sohn will be running against Moon Jae-in, a heavyweight lawmaker in the main opposition Democratic United Party.

The head of the nomination committee, Jung Hong-won, told reporters that the committee most importantly considered the individual’s integrity and morals when selecting its candidates. Jung said the decisions also reflected the results of public polls.

So far, the ruling party has tapped 21 candidates to run in Seoul, 23 in Gyeonggi, six in South Chungcheong and seven in South Gyeongsang Province. It has also decided to hold primaries for 47 electoral districts.

In the meantime, the main opposition Democratic United Party (DUP) has finalized its list of candidates to run in the general elections in the Jeolla Provinces, dropping six incumbent lawmakers in the process.

The party selected lawmaker Park Ji-won to run in Mokpo, South Jeolla and tapped lawmaker Joo Seung-yong to campaign in Yeosu.

According to today's announcement, incumbent DUP lawmakers were eliminated during the candidate selection process in a total of 13 electoral districts in the Jeolla Provinces.

However, the number of incumbent DUP lawmakers who can be eliminated from the party’s ticket may increase in districts where the party decides to hold their primaries.

Spurned Lawmakers Protests Parties' Candidate Nominations

Iktidardaki Saenuri Partisi ve ana muhalefet Demokratik Birlesmis Parti Nisan genel seçimleri için adaylarin duyurulmasindan sonra iç ayriliga saplandi.

Iktidar kampinin adaylik komitesi pazartesi günü 81 adaylik 2. listesini açikladiktan sonra Saenuri Partisi genel merkezi çevresinde aday seçimini protesto eden mitingler düzenlendi.

Özellikle listede bulunmayan, devlet baskani Lee Myung-bak taraftari vekiller, partiden çikarilmalarinin partinin acil liderlik komitesi baskani Park Geun-hye'nin siyasi misillemesinin sonucu oldugunu iddia ederek karari protesto etti.

Bu sirada kabul edilmeyen DBP vekilleri aday seçmede uygulanan etik standartlarla ilgili tartisma çikardi.

Parti adayligi kazanamayan iktidar partisi ve DBP vekillerinin genel seçimlerde bagimsiz aday olarak çikmalari muhtemel.

Both the ruling Saenuri Party and the main opposition Democratic United Party (DUP) have become mired in internal rifts following the announcement of candidates for the April general elections.

Rallies protesting the selection of candidates were held around Saenuri Party headquarters after the ruling camp's nomination committee released its second list of 81 candidates on Monday.

In particular, lawmakers loyal to President Lee Myung-bak who were not included in the list protested the decisions, claiming that their elimination was the result of political retaliation by the head of the party’s emergency leadership committee, Park Geun-hye.

Meanwhile, DUP lawmakers who didn't make the cut raised issue with ethical standards applied in selecting candidates.

Lawmakers of both the ruling party and the DUP who failed to win party nominations are likely to seek to run in the general elections as independent candidates.

Bakanlik sözcüsü Kim Min-seok sali günü bilgilendirme sirasinda deniz üssünün 29 Subatta Basbakanlik Dairesinin duyurdugu plana göre insa edilecegini söyledi.

Jeju Valisi Woo Keun-min pazartesi günü bir basin konferansinda hükümetten plani geçici olarak ertelemesini istemisti. Jeju yerel hükümeti ve Deniz Kuvvetlerinin insa projesinin etkileri üzerine ada ve çevresinde temsili bir anket düzenlemelerini de önerdi.

The Defense Ministry will go ahead with its plan to build a naval base in Jeju, despite the provincial government’s request for a delay in construction.

Ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok said in a regular news briefing Tuesday that the naval base will be built as scheduled in line with a plan announced by the Prime Minister’s Office on February 29th.

Jeju Governor Woo Keun-min asked the government to temporarily shelve the plan in a news conference on Monday. He also proposed that the Jeju provincial government and the Navy conduct an additional simulated survey on the effects the construction project will have on the island and its environment.
