One of South Korea's most treasured relics was damaged during the heaviest downpours in decades last week, government officials said Tuesday.

Some parts of the roof ridge of Dongdaemun (Great East Gate) chipped off due to the record-breaking rainfall that killed 62 and left thousands homeless in Seoul and its surrounding areas.

Kore Sahil Güvenligi, geçen yilki temmuz ayi sayilarina göre % 26 düserek geçen ay ülke genelinde 276 plaja 25,4 milyon Korelinin gittigini açikladi.

Bölgeye göre, yaklasik 13 milyon kisi güney kiyilarina, % 29’u dogu kiyilarina ve % 21’de bati kiyilarina gitti.

The number of vacationers to visit the nation’s beaches fell sharply in July year-on-year.

The Korea Coast Guard says that 25-point-four million Koreans traveled to 276 beaches across the country last month, which is down 26 percent from July last year.

By region, some 13 million went to beaches on the south coast, 29 percent went to the east coast and 21 percent made for the west coast.

The Coast Guard attributed the low turnout to the long monsoon season and a drop in water temperature.

Court Rejects Petition to Ban Pet Dogs at Apartments

Seoul Merkez Bölge Mahkemesi apartmanlarda evcil köpek beslenmesi yasagini isteyen dilekçeyi reddetti.

Mahkeme, dilekçenin köpekleri gerçekten sevmeyen ve komsusunun köpeginden korkan soyadinin Kim olarak bilinen biri tarafindan verildigini açikladi. Ancak, mahkeme köpegin aslinda duygusal sikintida oldugunun algilanmasinin zor oldugu kararina vardi.

The Seoul Central District Court has dismissed a petition requesting a ban on having pet dogs at apartment complexes.

The court said the petitioner, known by the surname Kim, strongly disliked and feared a neighbor's dog. However, the court ruled that it was difficult to perceive if the dog was actually inflicting emotional distress.

Seoul ve çevresindeki geçen haftaki siddetli yagis ardindan heyelan, seller, 62 ölü ve binlerce evsiz birakarak ayrildi. Zaten küresel iklim degisikliklerinin etkisi altinda olan Kore Yarimadasi olarak felakette güçlü önlemlerin alinmamasini halk isyanla karsiladi.

Reeling from the heaviest downpours in a century last week, the Seoul Metropolitan Government said Thursday that it will overhaul its flood prevention measures to cope with unusual weather conditions.

The move came after the record-breaking rainfall and the subsequent landslides and floods killed 62 and left thousands homeless in Seoul and its surrounding areas last week. The disaster provoked public outcry for stronger countermeasures as the Korean Peninsula has already come under the influence of global climate change.

An employee of a South Korean conglomerate was shot to death in an upper-class downtown area of the Mexican capital Mexico City.

Reports say the man was getting into his car on Thursday night local time when three gunmen fired 13 shots at him.

Eight months ago in Mexico City, two ethnic Koreans sharing a taxi were shot by an armed robber.
