S. Korea to Conduct Nationwide Survey of Immunity Against COVID-19

Güney Kore, COVID-19'a Karşı Ülke Çapında Bağışıklık Anketi Gerçekleştirecek

Güney Kore, yeni koronavirüs enfeksiyonlarının kapsamını doğrulamak için nüfusun bağışıklığı konusunda ülke çapında bir çalışma yapacak.

Sağlık yetkilileri perşembe günü yaptığı açıklamada, topluluk enfeksiyonları ve sürü bağışıklığı oluşumu çalışmasının ülkenin COVID-19'a karşı etkili önlemler almasına yardımcı olması beklendiğini söyledi.

Çalışma, enfekte olduktan sonra, virüsü nötralize eden antikorların oluşumu ile bağışıklık geliştiren popülasyonun yüzdesini belirleyecektir.

COVID-19 durumunda, popülasyon testlerinin en az yüzde 60'ı pozitif olduğunda sürü bağışıklığının elde edildiğine inanılmaktadır.

Yetkililer, çalışmanın ulusal sağlık ve beslenme araştırması sırasında alınan kan örneklerini kullanacağını söyledi.

South Korea will conduct a nationwide study of the population's immunity to confirm the scope of novel coronavirus infections.

Health authorities said on Thursday that studying community infections and the formation of herd immunity is expected to help the country draw up effective countermeasures to COVID-19.

The study will determine the percentage of the population that develops immunity after being infected, in the form of antibodies that neutralize the virus.

In the case of COVID-19, herd immunity is believed to be achieved when at least 60 percent of the population tests positive.

Officials said the study will utilize blood samples taken during the national health and nutrition survey.

Health Minister Says Easing Social Distancing Rules Doesn't Mean End of Pandemic

Güney Kore, 22 Martta COVID-19’a karşı sorumluluk için yoğun sosyal mesafe kampanyası başlatmıştı.

Health Minister Park Neung-hoo has urged the public to continue social distancing efforts even after the nation begins relaxing its intensive social distancing campaign from Wednesday.

Speaking at a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on Tuesday, Park emphasized that the easing of the rules does not mean the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the "distancing in daily life" scheme that will be implemented from Wednesday involves guaranteeing people’s social and economic activities while having individuals and communities assume responsibility in quarantine efforts.

Park said that under the new scheme, facilities that have been closed will resume operations in phases and events and gatherings will be allowed on the condition that they follow quarantine guidelines.

The minister said South Korea is setting out on a new road that integrates everyday life and quarantine efforts, a path no country yet has successfully taken.

Park said he believes South Korea will succeed in taking this road if the public maintains its high level of civic consciousness and continues distancing efforts.

South Korea launched its intensive social distancing campaign in response to COVID-19 on March 22.
