S. Korean Dancer to Join Mariinsky Ballet

G. Koreli Dansçi Mariinsky Balesi'ne Katildi

Güney Koreli balet Kim Gi-min, Rusya'daki Mariinsky Balesi'ne katilan ilk Asyali oldu.

Dansçi grubuna Asyali bir dansçinin dahil edilmesi olaganüstü bir durum. Geçen yil emekli olan balerin Yu Ji-yeon, balenin baska bir bölümünde yer alan diger bir Asyaliydi.

19 yasindaki Kim, geçtigimiz kasim ayinda, dansçi grubu Kore'deyken, Mariinsky'nin sanat yönetmeni tarafindan kesfedildi. Geçen hafta St. Petersburg'den yapilan duyurudan sonra, Kim ekibe dahil oldu.

S. Korean Dancer to Join Mariinsky Ballet

South Korean ballet dancer Kim Gi-min has become the first Asian male to join the Mariinsky Ballet in Russia.

The acceptance of an Asian dancer in the troupe is highly unusual. South Korean ballerina Yu Ji-yeon, who retired last year, is the only other Asian to have been part of the ballet.

The 19-year-old Kim was spotted by the Mariinsky’s artistic director when the troupe was in Korea last November. After an audition at St. Petersburg last week, Kim got the spot.

27 Haziran Suwon, Güney Kore - Gyeonggi Il Hükümeti, 3. DMZ Kore Uluslararasi Belgesel Festivali posterini 27 Haziran'da basina açikladi. DMZ, yaptigi açiklamada festival bölgesinin, 4 kilometre çapinda askerden arindirilmis ulusal Kore tampon bölgesi oldugunu belirtti. Bölge, 1950-1953 Kore Savasi’nin yapilan ateskesle sona ermesinden sonra bir miras olarak kaldi. Her yil düzenlenen festival 22-28 Eylül tarihleri arasinda gerçeklesecek.

Poster of DMZ documentary festival unveiled:

June 27, SUWON, South Korea -- Seen here is the poster of the 3rd DMZ Korean International Documentary Festival, which the Gyeonggi Provincial Government unveiled on June 27. The DMZ, or demilitarized zone, is the 4-kilometer-wide inter-Korean buffer zone. It's a legacy of the 1950-53 Korean War, which ended in an armistice. S. Korea's 'onggi' pottery lauded by Guinness World Records:

G. Kore’nin “onggi “ Çömlegi Guinness Dünya Rekorlari Tarafindan Takdir Edildi:

ULJU, Güney Kore, Haziran 29 (Yonhap) - Guinness World Records Ltd. ayni zamanda dünyanin en büyük seramigi olan Korece "onggi" olarak bilinen geleneksel Kore seramigine ait bir parçayi takdir etmistir.

Rekor basarilarinin dünyanin önde gelen otoritesi, Guinness Dünya Rekorlari Kurumu Sali günü, dünyanin en büyük çömlegi olarak Ulju belediyesi tarafindan yapilan "Ulsan Oegosan Onggi" ilan etti ve “En büyük çömlek." sertifikasini sundu.

Guinness görevlisi Amanda Mochan Seoul'un 414 kilometre güneydogusundaki Ulju içindeki aldigi gerçek bir ölçümden sonra sunum geldi.

Ülkenin geleneksel seramik tesvik çabalarinin bir parçasi olarak, bölgesel hükümetin geçen yil Eylül ayinda Ulju’nin Onggi köyünde yapilan 2010 Onggi Expo’da parça ortaya çikarilmisti. Çömlek Mart 2009'da baslayan alti denemeden sonra yapildi.

S. Korea's 'onggi' pottery lauded by Guinness World Records:

ULJU, South Korea, June 29 (Yonhap) -- Guinness World Records Ltd. has recognized a piece of traditional Korean pottery, also known as "onggi" in Korean, as the world's biggest.

Guinness World Records, the world's leading authority on record-breaking achievements, on Tuesday presented a certificate to the Ulju municipal government that declares the "Ulsan Oegosan Onggi" as the world's "Largest Earthenware Pot."

The presentation came after Guinness judge Amanda Mochan took an actual measurement of the pot in Ulju, 414 kilometers southeast of Seoul.

As part of efforts to promote the nation's traditional ceramics, the regional government revealed the piece ahead of the 2010 Onggi Expo in the onggi village of Ulju in September last year. The earthenware pot was made after six tries beginning in March 2009.

"(The piece) will become the stepping stone to show off our traditional culture and history at home and abroad," said Shin Jang-yeol, chief of the regional government.

The pottery is 223 centimeters high and up to 517.6 centimeters in girth, exceeding the qualifying measurement of 200 centimeters high, set by Guinness.

DP continues sit-in inside parliament over KBS subscription fee hike :

SEOUL, June 30 (Yonhap) -- Opposition lawmakers continued their sit-in inside the parliament for a third day Thursday in protest of the ruling party's move to pass a controversial bill on increasing subscription fees for the state-funded broadcaster KBS.
Lawmakers of the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) set up camp inside a conference room for the culture, sports, tourism, broadcasting and communications committee, taking turns around-the-clock since Tuesday to block the Grand National Party (GNP)'s attempts to approve the fee hike.
