Weekday Visitors at Yeosu Expo Surpass 80,000

Yeosu Fuarının Haftaiçi Ziyaretçileri 80.000'i Geçti

2012 Yeosu Fuarındaki haftaiçi ziyaretçilerinin sayısı etkinliği açılışından bu yana ilk kez 80.000'i geçti.

Yeosu Fuarının organize komitesi, pazartesi günü fuar alanını ziyaret edenlerin sayısının 78 bine ulaşarak rekor kırdığını açıkladı. Fakat çarşamba günü yeni bir rekor kıracak 88 bin kişi ziyarette bulundu.

Organize komitesi, haftaiçi ziyaretçi sayısının geçen aya dek ortalama 40-50 binlerde kaldığını fakat öğrenciler tatilde olduğundan ve yakın yerlerdeki kişiler gruplar halinde Fuarı ziyaret ettiklerinden rakamın temmuz ayında 70 binin üstüne çıktığını açıkladı.

The number of weekday visitors at the 2012 Yeosu Expo surpassed 80-thousand for the first time since the opening of the event.

The Yeosu Expo’s organizing committee said the number of visitors at the venue on Monday posted a record 78-thousand. However, a whopping 88-thousand visitors showed up on Wednesday for a new record.

The organizing committee says the number of weekday visitors stood at around 40 to 50-thousand on average until last month, but the figure has risen to over 70-thousand in July, as students are on vacation and people are visiting the Expo in groups from nearby municipalities.

Walk into a bookstore in any large city in the world, and books written by successful entrepreneurs take up a considerable chunk of the shelf space. So what makes this new one stand out?

Unlike the usual manuals or case studies, none of the business people’s stories in this collection are exaggerated or glorified. They are not, say, by Mark Zuckerberg, whose level of success would be hard to emulate.

These people started off in sales or as factory laborers when they decided to strike out on their own — and they have made a lot of money. Any reader from any background would relate easily to these stories.

They willingly share their worst moments, from bankruptcy to gambling addictions.

While reading more about entrepreneurship teaches you infinitely less than trying it yourself, this is a neat and readable collection of encouragement.

Poet and travel writer Lee Byung-ryul has published his second book of travel essays titled “The Wind Rises, I Like You.” His first, “Attraction,” was released seven years ago and is a long-term steady seller in Korea.

The long-awaited follow-up is full of stories from across the globe, making the reader want to pack up and go travelling.

Instead of listing practical information or impressions on a specific destination, Lee writes about the sentiment of the journey. It is like taking a peek into his travel journal. The book has no table of contents or page numbers, as Lee wants the readers to thumb through and read the page they want.

The Haso Baekryon (White Lotus) Festival offers various sights and activities near the 66,000-square-meter Baekryeonji Pond, where white lotuses will be in bloom. Visitors can watch performances of traditional Korean music and dance, participate in folk games, and view exhibitions of stone tiles, photos, calligraphy and Buddhist paintings. Visitors will also be able to taste and buy "baekryon tea" made of green tea and white lotus leaves.

Boryeong Mud Festival Opens

Boryeong Çamur Festivali Başladı

Yer yıl düzenlenen 15. Boryeong Çamur Festivali, geçtiğimiz haftasonu Güney Chungcheong Eyaleti'nde başladı.

İnsanlar birbirine çamur fırlattı ve çeşitli oyunlarla sulu çamurdan dolayı yuvarlandı. Kirli olmalarına rağmen eğlendiklerinden şüphe yok.

Festival, çamurda kayma ve çamur hapishanesi gibi çamur temalı yaklaşık 20 etkinlik düzenledi.

Etkinlik kötü hava şartlarına rağmen, açılış gününde bile binlerce yabancı ve yüz binlerce tatilciyi kendine çekti.

Boryeong, çamur festivalini dünyanın en iyi dört festivalinden biri haline getirmeyi amaçlıyor. Boryeong Çamur Festivali 24 Temmuza kadar sürecek.

The 15th annual Boryeong Mud Festival kicked off this past weekend in South Chungcheong Province.

People sling mud at each other or roll through the gre y slop in various games. There is no question they are having fun, despite how unidentifiable and dirty they are.

The festival offers some 20 mud-themed activities, such as a mud slide and a mud prison.

Despite poor weather, the event attracted hundreds of thousands of vacationers on the opening day alone, including thousands of foreigners.

Boryeong aims to make the mud festival one of the world’s top four festivals. The Boryeong Mud Festival will continue through July 24th.

Rice paddy art promotes int'l gathering

Uluslararası Teşvik İçin Pirinç Toplama Sanatı

16 Temmuz 2012 tarihinde Güney Kore'nin doğu kıyılarındaki Gangneung Belediyesi tarafından yayımlanan bu tarihsiz fotoğraf, Inter-City Somut Olmayan Kültürel İşbirliği Ağı'nın (ICCN) logosunu betimleyen şehirdeki bir pirinç tarlasını gösteriyor. ICCN, Gangneung tabanlı olarak, dünya manevi kültürünü korumayı amaçlıyor. Dünya çapında bölgesel yönetimlerin uluslararası toplantı yapan bir ağdır. 23 ülke, 29 ilden yaklaşık 100 grubu bir araya getirmesi beklenen ve ekim ayında düzenlenecek olan ICCN Festivali'nin teşvik çabalarının bir parçası olarak, belediye renkli pirinç bitkileri ekerek imaj yarattı.

Seoul Character & Licensing Fair 2012 to be held in COEX this week

Home grown characters, games, cartoons, animation and other contents will be displayed at the Seoul Character & Licensing Fair 2012 to be held from Wednesday through Sunday at the COEX in Samseongdong, southern Seoul.

About 170 local and foreign contents companies and some 5,000 people in the contents business will participate in Asia's biggest forum for contents to be organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and the COEX with the support of the culture ministry.
