Öğrencilere bedava öğlen yemeği konusundaki referandum için çalışmalar sürüyor…
Bilindiği üzere, geçtiğimiz yıl muhalefet Demokratik Parti (DP) tarafından bedava öğlen yemeği projesi fikri öne atıldı ve bu konu sıcaklığını korumaya devam ediyor. Fikre karşı çıkanlar, bunu oy toplamak amacıyla yapılan bir kampanya olarak nitelendirmekte. Fikrin destekçileri ise iktidar partinin bu fikri dikkate alarak yoksullara yoğunlaşması gerektiği görüşünde.
Son birkaç aydır proje karşıtı bir grup bu konuyla ilgili bir referandum düzenlenmesi için imza kampanyası sürdürmekte ve Seoul halkını bu kampanyaya katılmaya teşfik etmek adına çalışmalarına devam ediyor. Referendum düzenlenmesi için ortalama 418.000 imza yeterliyken yaklaşık 800.000 imza toplandı bile.

A civic group formally demanded that Seoul city government hold a residents’ speech over a plan to block a project to provide free lunches to all elementary school kids.
The plan to provide free school lunches, initiated by the main opposition Democratic Party (DP), is one of the hot political issues, with opponents describing it as a campaign to win votes, while supporters say the ruling party should put its priority on welfare regarding at DP.
Since early this year, a civic group has been working to ask the city to hold the residents’ referendum to block the free lunch project.
So far, about 800,000 residents in Seoul have signed up to support the referendum, though just 418,000 signatures are required to hold the residents’ referendum.
