Jinju Güney Kore bir merkez şehridir. Eski zamanlarda, Jinju ulusal kültür ve ruhun bir kaynağı oldu. Antik kentin 1000 yıllık tarihi mirası düzenlenen bir şehir olarak, Jinju vatansever ruhu, eğitim, kültür ve sanat evinde de ünlü olmuştur.
Jinju Gaya Dönemi Goryeonggaya bir antik kenttir. Bu şehir üç Krallık döneminde Baekje'de 'Geoyeolseong', 'Cheongju', 'Geoyeolju' denirdi, ve Birleşik Silla döneminde ise 'Gangju'. Bu kentin adı Goryeo Hanedanlığı (940) Kral Taejong'un 23. yılında ilk kez 'Jinju' olarak değiştirilmiştir.
Bu 'Jinju-mok', Kral Seongjong'un (983) 2. yılında 12 Moks' dan (Goryeo'ya ve Joseon Hanedanlığı yerel idari birimler) biri oldu. Joseon Hanedanlığı (1896) Kral Gojong'un 33. yılında, 13 il ile yeniden milletin kaymakamlığı düzenlenmiştir. O zaman Jinju Gyeongsangnam-do aitti ve Gyeongsangnam-do şehri başkent oldu. Ve il valisi Jinju yaşamaya başladı. 1 Nisan 1925 tarihinde, Busan eyalet başkenti olarak Jinju yerini aldı.
15 Ağustos 1949 günü, Kore Cumhuriyeti hükümeti kurulmuş ve 'yerel öz-yönetim sistemi' başladı. O zamanlarda, Jinju-met Jinju-si (şehir) yükseltilmiş ve kentin belediye başkanı başlamıştır. 1 Ocak 1995 tarihinde, 'Hukuk Kentsel-Kırsal Entegre City kuruluşuna dair' uyarınca, Jinju-si ve Jinyang-gun soyu tükenmişti ve tek entegre olan Jinju-si (şehir) ile birleşti.

Jinju Silk (İpeği) :
Eski çağlardan bu yana, Jinju Silk ve Jinju insanının yeteneği (örneğin Mt. Jirisan temiz su ve benzeri gibi) doğal kaynakların birleşimi sonucu onun üstün kalite olduğu kabul edilmiştir. Jinju fabrikalarda her yıl ulusal üretimin %70 'ini dönerler.

Imjin Daecheop Gyesasunuidan :
Imjin Waeran sırasında, Genel GİM, Si-min ve 3800 asker şiddetle ilk Jinjuseong Savaşı (1592) 'de bir zafer kazanmak için 6 gün boyunca 20,000 Japon işgalcilere karşı savaştı.
1987 yılında, Kültür Mülkiyet İdaresi bu şehit patriotics anısını yaşatmak için ve bu iki Jinjuseong savaşları anısına burayı sunak yapmıştır.

Jinju is a hub city of the Southern Korea. From old times, Jinju was a fountainhead of national culture and spirit. As a city that has held 1,000-year-old historical heritage of the ancient city, Jinju has been well renowned as a home of patriotic spirit, education, culture and art.

Jinju was an ancient city of Goryeonggaya in the Gaya Era. This city was called 'Geoyeolseong' of Baekje during the Three Kingdom Era, and was called 'Geoyeolju', 'Cheongju', and 'Gangju' during the Unified Silla Era. Name of this city was changed into 'Jinju' for the first time in the 23rd year of King Taejong of the Goryeo Dynasty(940).

It became 'Jinju-mok', one of 12 moks(local administrative units in Goryeo and Joseon Dynasty) in the 2nd year of King Seongjong(983). In the 33rd year of King Gojong of the Joseon Dynasty(1896), administrative district of the nation was reorganized with 13 provinces. At that time Jinju began to belong to Gyeongsangnam-do, and became capital town of Gyeongsangnam-do. And provincial governor started to reside in Jinju. On April 1, 1925, Busan replaced Jinju as provincial capital.

On August 15, 1949, the government of the Republic of Korea was established and 'the local self-government system' was started. At that time, Jinju-bu was raised to Jinju-si(city) and started to have mayor of the city. On January 1, 1995, in accordance with 'the Law pertaining to the establishment of Urban-Rural Integrated City', Jinju-si and Jinyang-gun became extinct and were merged into one integrated Jinju-si(city).

Jinju Silk :
Since old times, Jinju Silk has been recognized for its superior quality, which is a result of the combination of natural resources(such as clean water of Mt. Jirisan and so on) and human talent of Jinju. Silk factories of Jinju annually spin out 70% of the national production.

Silver Daggers :
Eunjangdo, Gyeongsangnam-do Intangible Cultural Properties 10, is a representative metal craft product of Jinju.

Imjin Daecheop Gyesasunuidan :
During the Imjinwaeran, the General Gim, Si-min and 3,800 soldiers fiercely fought against 20,000 Japanese invaders for 6 days to win a victory in the first Jinjuseong Battle(1592).
In 1987, the Cultural Property Administration built this altar to cherish the memory of these martyred patriotics and to commemorate these two Jinjuseong battles.

Located in Ibanseong-myeon Jinju, this is a great place to experience a variety of ecologies.

Sejong (Hangul: 세종, hanja: 世宗), officially Sejong Special Autonomous City and formerly known as Yeongi (연기, 燕岐) County is South Korea's de facto second capital city. In early 2007, the South Korean government created a special administrative district from parts of Chungcheongnam-do and Chungcheongbuk-do provinces, near Daejeon, to relocate nine ministries and four national agencies from Seoul. The new capital opened on 2 July 2012, with 36 government agencies slated to move there by 2015.

In 2004, the plan for creation of the city arose after the failure of former President Roh Moo Hyun to relocate the national capital from Seoul to the Chungcheong region, Yeongi–Gongju area and Gongju–Nonsan area as candidates. The plan envisages a city with a population of around 500,000.

Plans for the city have resulted in numerous disputes in the National Assembly. A faction led by President Lee Myung Bak's political rival Rep. Park Geun Hye within the Grand National Party, all opposition parties and a majority of people in the Chungcheong region are against scrapping the original plan to relocate government ministries to Sejong in South Chungcheong Province. The city was originally meant to be the capital, but a high court ruled it to be illegal.

In July 2012 Sejong was created from all of Yeongi County, three townships of Gongju and one township of Cheongwon County.

In April 2013 the government of Putrajaya, Malaysia signed a letter of intent (LOI) with the government of Sejong City to mark cooperation between the two cities.

Sejong is located between three other major Korean cities: Daejeon, Cheonan and Cheongju. It is about 75 miles (121 km) from Seoul.
