Local bars, called "suljip" in Korean, have undergone a major facelift in recent years. Formerly rowdy, smoke-filled venues catering to endless rounds of soju and bland finger food are now long gone-and the competition is fierce to offer diverse and creative menus and catchy interior decor to attract a more trend-sensitive clientele.
