The Ginseng Root / Ginseng Kökü
Eollanamdo, Geumsan’da tek kızı olan yaşlı bir adam varmış. Kız 18 yaşına geldiğinde yakışıklı bir genç, kızın odasına gizlice girmiş ve geceyi onunla geçirmiş.
Kimse gencin kim olduğunu ya da nereden geldiğini öğrenememiş çünkü genç, şafak sökmeden kaybolmuş. Kız, utanarak da olsa babasına gençten bahsetmiş. Çünkü bu uzun süre saklayabileceği bir şey değilmiş. Babası da eğer genç tekrar gelirse onun elbisesinin üzerinde iğne iplikle iz bırakmasını öğütlemiş. Kız da babasını dinlemiş ve onun dediğini yapmış. Ertesi sabah genç adam gittiğinde, kızın babası ipliği takip edip çalıların arasındaki gingeng kökünü gördüğü avluya kadar gitmiş.
Ginseng’i yerinden söküp, onunla çay demlemiş. Kızıyla birlikte çayı içtikten sonra genç adam hiç görünmemiş.

The Ginseng Root
In Geumsan, Eollanamdo there was an old man, who had an only daughter. When she turned 18, however, a beautiful young man would sneak into her room and stay the night with her.
Nobody knew who he was or where he was from, because he disappeared before dawn unnoticed. The daughter told his father about this young man in spite of her embarrassment, as she knew that it was not something she could hide from her parents for long. Her father advised her to prick his sleeve with a needle with thread in case he come again. She did as her father advised. Next morning after the young man was gone, her father followed the thread to his backyard, where a ginseng root with a needle on it was found in the thicket.
He dug it out, brewed tea out of it, and consumed the tea with his family, after which the young man didn't show up again.
