The 9th Gwangju Biennale 2012



Gwangju Metropol Şehri bir sanat, kültür şehridir. Ayrıca ileri teknoloji endüstrileri ve yeşil enerji çalışmalarının yürütüldüğü bir şehirdir. Bu önemde bir şehrin iki farklı bineali var. Biri 1995’te oluşturulmuş modern sana festivali. Diğeri ise 2004’te oluşturulmuş tasarım bineali.
Bineal: 2 senede bir düzenlenen etkinlik.

Gwangju Bineali – 1995’ten Bu Yana
1980’deki Gwangju Demokratikleşme Hareketi’nin önlenmesine karşı çıkan halk isyanının anısına 1995’te oluşturuldu. Asya’nın en eski ve en değerli modern sanat binealidir.

Gwangju Tasarım Bineali – 2004’ten Bu Yana
Gwangju Tasarım Bienali, 2005 yılında Gwangju Metropol Şehri adı altında, Gwangju’nun tasarım endüstrisini tanıtmak, 21.yy’da Kore’nin ve dünyanın gelişimine katkı sağlamak için kurulmuştur. Bienaller daha önceden Light into Life (2005), L.I.G.H.T(2007), The Clue(2009) başlıkları altında düzenlenmiştir.

Gwangju Bienali 2012
Gwangju Bienal Kuruluşu 9. Gwangju Bienali (7.Ekim-11.Kasım) konusu “Yuvarlak Masa”yı takdim etmekten gurur duyar. 6 kişilik yardımcı sanatçı yönetmen ekibinin düzenlediği organizasyonun konusu; demokratik ve hiyerarşik olmayan değişimlerin çeşitli ortak çabalar yoluyla toplumlar arasındaki tarihi bağları ortaya çıkarması ve aitlik kavramıyla ilgili çeşitli içerikleri keşfetmektir.

9.Gwangju Bineal’in sanatsal yönetimi Koreli, Çinli, Japon, Hint, Endonezyalı ve Katar kuruculardan oluşan altı üyeli takımın başkanlığındadır. Bu kişiler: Nancy Adajania, Wassan Al-Khudhairi, Mami Kataoka, Sunjung Kim, Carol Yinghua Lu ve Alia Swastika’dır.

Tema: Tasarım tasarımdır, tasarım değildir.
4. Gwangju Tasarım Bineali, adlandırılmış, adsız ve bu ilişkiler yoluyla yayılan yerleşik, yerleşik olmayan ve yerleşmemiş tasarımın dinamiklerini keşfeder.

Anahatlarıyla Sergi:
Tematik Sergi: Yaratıcılık, keşif ve tasarımda modern taklide dikkat çeker.

Adlandırılmış Sergi Tasarımı: Az bilinenden başlayıp çok bilinen küresel kimlikleri tanımayı temsil eder.

Adsız Tasarım Sergisi: Tasarımın modern tanımını ve tasarımcı gizemindeki mücadeleleri inceler.

Toplum Sergisi: Teknoloji, demokrasi ve küresel ekonımideki derin değişiklikleri keşfeder.

Bineal Şehri: Serginin taraflı düşüncelerden değil; nesneler, süreçler ve fikirler arasındaki ilişkilerde yapıcı rol oynaması fikrinden türemiştir.

Gwangju Temsili Sergisi için eski şehri andıracak küçük çapta 10 mimari eser inşa edilecektir.

The Metropolitan City of Gwangju is a city of art, culture and high-tech industries with photonics and green energy businesses. As a city of art and culture, Gwangju and Gwangju biennale Foundation host two different biennales including international contemporary art festival, Gwangju Biennale and Gwangju Design Biennale established in 1995 and 2004.

Gwangju biennale since 1995
Founded in 1995 in memory of spirits of civil uprising of the 1980 repression of the Gwangju Democratization Movement, the Gwangju Biennale is Asia's oldest and most prestigious biennial of contemporary art.

Gwangju Design biennale since 2004
The Gwangju Design Biennale stated in 2005 under Gwangju Metropolitan City’s initiative to promote the design industry in Gwangju and to contribute to the development of Korea and the world in the 21st century, the era of design. Previous editions of Biennales went under the titles Light into Life (2005), L.I.G.H.T(2007), The Clue(2009)

Gwangju Biennale 2012
The Gwangju Biennale Foundation is pleased to announce ‘ROUNDTABLE’ as the theme of the 9th Gwangju Biennale (September 7 – November 11, 2012). The team of six co-artistic directors appointed to organize the upcoming biennale have chosen ‘ROUNDTABLE’ as a theme to explore the possibility of democratic and non-hierarchical exchange concerning global cultural production, through various forms of collective endeavour, research into historic entanglements among societies, and the exploration of diverse contexts of belonging.

The artistic direction of the 9th Gwangju Biennale is headed by a team of six internationally renowned curators from Korea, China, Japan, India, Indonesia, and Qatar. They are: Nancy Adajania, Wassan Al-Khudhairi, Mami Kataoka, Sunjung Kim, Carol Yinghua Lu and Alia Swastika.

Theme: Desing is desing is not design.
the 4th Gwangju Design Biennale explores the dynamic of design that is placed, un-placed, and displaced, design that is named and un-named, and the communities that are woven through these relations.

The Exhibition Outline
The Thematic exhibition: pays special attention to overlaps in the ideas of creativity, innovation, and imitation in contemporary design practice.

The Named Design exhibition: is represented as a spectrum extending from less known to globally recognized identities.

The Un-Named Design exhibition: questions the contemporary definition of design and challenges the myth of the designer.

The Communities exhibition: explores the profound changes in the nature of technology, demographics, and the global economy.

The Biennale City: emerges from the notion that the space of the exhibition is not neutral; that in fact space has the capacity to construct productive relationships between objects, processes and ideas.

The Gwangju Follies exhibit will construct a network of 10 small-scale architectural installations along the path of the old city wall of Gwangju.
