Former footballer found dead after match-fixing scandal

Polisin pazartesi günkü açiklamasina göre, bir ay önce sike yaptigi iddia edilip spor dünyasindan uzaklastirilan eski futbolcu intihar etti.

Polis, apartman güvenlik görevlisinin ifadesine dayanarak 24 yasindaki Lee Gyeong-hwan'in cumartesi günü bati Seoul'daki Incheon'un merkezinde bulunan bir apartmanin yaninda ölü bulundugunu açikladi.

A former football player has died in a suspected suicide, police said Monday, months after he was banned for life from the sport over allegations of match fixing.

Lee Gyeong-hwan, 24, was found dead outside an apartment building in central Incheon, west of Seoul, on Saturday, the police said, citing testimony by an apartment security guard.

Londra Olimpiyatlarinin Baslamasina 100 Gün Kaldi

18 Nisan'da, 2012 Londra Olimpiyatlari Organizasyon Komitesi tarafindan yayinlanan bu resimde 27 Temmuz -12 Agustos araliginda düzenlenecek olan oyunlarin baslamasina 100 gün kalmasini kutlamak adina Londra'daki Kew Parkinde 25 bin çiçekten yapilmis olimpiyat halkalari görüntülendi. Gov't to Focus Support on 11 Sports ahead of Olympic Games

Hükümet, Olimpiyatlar Öncesinde 11 Spora Destek Üzerine Yogunlasacak

Hükümet, bu yaz düzenlenecek Londra Olimpiyatlarinda madalya kazanmasinin en muhtemel olduguna inandigi Güney Koreli sporcularin yer aldigi 11 etkinlige destek vermeyi planliyor.

Kültür, Spor ve Turizm Bakanligi; okçuluk, badminton, judo, tekvando, aticilik, yüzme, halter, eskrim ve aletli jimnastik dallarina dogrudan destek saglayacagini açiklayarak Londra Olimpiyatlarina hazirlik olarak kapsamli planlarini beyan etti. Bakanlik, ulusal madalya sayisinda 10'u geçmeyi amaçladigini bildirdi.

Bakanlik, bu 11 spor sektöründeki sporcularin, Londra Olimpiyatlari temmuz ayinda baslayana dek sezon disi egitim dönemine tabi olacagini söyledi.

Bakanlik; altin, gümüs ve bronz madalyalar için ödüllerini 2008 Pekin Olimpiyatlarina oranla, sirasiyla 10 milyon, 5 milyon ve 3 milyon won oraninda artirma karari da aldi.

Bu sirada, ilk kez Koreli sporcular için atçilik egitimi saglayacak ve geçici çevrelerine alismalarina yardimci olacak tesis içi egitim kampi isletilecek.

The government plans to focus its support on eleven events it believes South Korea's athletes are most likely to medal in during the London Olympics this summer.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced its comprehensive plans in preparation for the London Olympics, explaining it will direct its support towards archery, badminton, judo, Taekwondo, shooting, swimming, weightlifting, fencing and men's apparatus gymnastics. The ministry says it's aiming to make it into the top ten among national medal counts.

The ministry said athletes from those eleven sports sectors will be subject to four off-season training sessions until the London Olympics kick off in July.

The ministry has also decided to up the prize money for gold, silver and bronze medals by ten million, five million and three million won, respectively, compared to the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

Meanwhile, an on-site training camp will be run for the first time to provide stable training for Korean athletes and help them adapt to their temporary environment.

Güney Koreli yüzücü Park Tae-hwan, 20 Nisan 2012'de Seoul'un 414 km güneydogusunda, Ulsan'daki Donga Yüzme Sampiyonasinda erkekler 200 m serbest yarisini kazandiktan sonra hayranlarina el salladi. Park, Londra Olimpiyatlari için büyük bir umut sinyali vererek yarisi 01:46.09'luk rekorla tamamladi.
