Yi So-yeon, South Korea's first astronaut, gives a lecture about space science and her experience in outer space at the Sydney Powerhouse Museum on Jan. 28. Yi blasted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on April 8, 2008, on a Russian Soyuz spacecraft.

S. Korea, Russia disagree on failure of space rocket launch

Hükümetin birdirdigine göre, Güney Koreli ve Rus teknisyenler geçen yil firlatilmasi basarisizlikla sonuçlanan Naro-1 uzay roketinin ardindaki esas neden üzerinde ikiye ayrildilar.

Geçen hafta Rusya'da yapilan dördüncü Hata Inceleme Birimi toplantisinda, 10 Haziran'da Naro Uzay Merkezi'nden firlatilan ortaklasa yapilmis 140 tonluk roketin 137 saniye kaybetmesinin nedenini bulmak amaçlandi.

South Korean and Russian technicians are divided over the exact cause behind last year's failed launch of the Naro-1 space rocket, the government said Monday.

The fourth Failure Review Board (FRB) meeting held in Russia last week aimed to determine why the jointly built 140-ton rocket was lost 137 seconds after blastoff from the Naro Space Center on June 10.

S. Korean automakers post large sales increase in Jan.

Endüstri lideri Hyundai Motor Sirketi ve bagli sirketi Kia Motor Sirketi baskanligindaki Güney Kore bes otomobil üreticisi, Sali günü, yogun yurtdisi taleplerinin üzerine Ocak ayi satislarinda on yillik artis oldugunu bildirdi.

Güney Koreli otomobil üreticileriyle birlikte global satis Ocak ayinda 21.9 oraninda kar payi ile 626.806 düzeyine geldi, sirketler tarafindan yayinlanan verilere göre geçen yil ayni döneminde satislar 514.094'e gelmisti.

South Korea's five automakers, led by industry leader Hyundai Motor Co. and its affiliate Kia Motors Corp., reported Tuesday a sharp on-year increase in their sales in January on strong overseas demand.

The combined global sales of the South Korean carmakers came to 626,806 vehicles in January, up 21.9 percent from 514,094 units sold in the same period last year, according to data released by the companies.

Amore Pacific Corp., South Korea's leading cosmetics manufacturer, said Tuesday that its earnings rose 25.9 percent in 2010 from a year earlier, boosted by increased sales in department stores and door-to-door visits.

Net income came to 284.5 billion won (US$255 million) last year, compared with 225.9 billion won in the previous year, Amore Pacific said in a regulatory filing.
