X: Lütfen bize yeni albümünden bahseder misin?
Skull: Albümde çarpıcı bir çok aşk şarkısı var. Onlar için çarpıcı şarkılar söyledim.

X: Neden Reggae?

Ben onlara Kore'de Reggrae çok büyük olmasa da bunu beraber çalışıp büyütelim diye düşündüğümü söyledim.
X: Morgan Carey sizinle çalışmak için nasıl geldi?

X: Please tell us about your new album
Skull: There’s a love song in there as well as a rather striking song. The striking song is intended for those.
X: Though you publicized your album release, it must be hard to promote it as your genre is so unique
Skull: I’m going to try hard to promote it as much as possible, even if there aren’t many opportunities.
X: Why reggae?
Skull: I’ve now come so far there’s no turning back. Honestly, I never knew I would do reggae so passionately for so long. Looking back I think it was destiny. Hearing that I’m the best among Korea’s reggae musicians is embarrassing. Though I’m doing this alone, abroad reggae music is a widely-accepted genre of music, unlike in Korea where it’s considered non-mainstream. Like hip hop or ballad genres, reggae can tell a lot of stories too.
X: You had quite a number of activities in America, what do Americans say when you say you are a Korean reggae musician?
Skull: Among American reggae musicians I’ve met them all except Shaggy. I even met Bob Marley’s son, Rohan Marley. They’re usually very intrigued when they hear an Asian person is doing reggae. Rohan Marley even joked that we looked alike.
I told him, “Though [Korea’s] reggae scene is not that big, it’s growing so let’s work together.”
X: How did Morgan Carey come to work with you?
Skull: Long time ago, I watched Morgan Carey’s interview and he said he somehow watched me mediating before a performance and it struck him. Though I’m a spiritual person, I think he was struck by the sight of an Asian person doing reggae.
X: Isn’t your dreadlock hairstyle uncomfortable?
Skull: In Korea, it is uncomfortable. It’s also difficult to wash it. In Jamaica, dreadlocks are not uncomfortable at all. The climate there is dry and hot so even when the hair gets wet it dries quickly. Though one doesn’t need to have dreadlocks to do reggae music, I keep it on purpose to help expose the reggae culture.
But I did find that, in the army, short hair was quite comfortable. Even my mother really liked my short hair.
X: That means your mother doesn’t really appreciate the dreadlocks but how does your family react to you doing reggae?
Skull: I’m the black sheep of my family. I’ve never even lived abroad. My older brother is an employee at Samsung Engineering & Construction and lives in Ghana in Africa.
When he was in India he entered Tae Kwon Do competitions and even introduced [Tae Kwon Do] to India’s famous actor Shahrukh Khan. However, I’m a reggae musician. Now people just accept that my brother and I are so different.
