Yeni Samsung Çip, Bilgisayarları ve Akıllı Telefonları 100 Kat Hızlandıracak

Samsung Elektronik, alışılagelmiş olandan 100 kat daha hızlı bilgisayar ve akıllı telefon üretmek için, yarı iletken teknolojisini geliştirdi.

Samsung Bilim ve Teknoloji Geliştirme Enstitüsü, Cuma günü, "ideal yeni madde" ismi verilen grafeni kullanan yeni iletken yapıları (yarı iletkenlerin parçası) geliştirme çalışmalarının Science dergisinin online baskısında yayımlandığını söyledi.

Yeni teknoloji, yarı iletkenlerin performansını artırabiliyor ve grafen kullanarak boyutlarını küçültebiliyor, böylece silikon çiplere yer sağlanabiliyor. Grafen silikondan daha büyük bir elektrik şiddetini iletebildiği için, 2004 yılında geliştirilmesinden beri, yeni nesil materyal olarak anılıyor.

Grafen, bu tarz metallere benzer karakter taşıyor, ve böylece bu maddeyle bir yarı iletkenin gelişimine engel oluşturan akımın kesilmesi zorlaşıyor. Beyin takımı, grafeni silikonla birleştiren bir yöntem sayesinde bu engelin üstesinden geliyor.

Samsung Electronics has developed semiconductor technology to produce computers and smartphones 100 times faster than conventional ones.

Samsung Advanced Institute of Science and Technology said Friday that its study on the development of structure for new transistors (part of semiconductors) using graphene, dubbed the “dream new material,” has been published in the online edition of the journal Science.

The new technology can enhance the performance of semiconductors and reduce their sizes by using graphene, thus enabling the replacement of silicon chips. Because graphene transmits a larger volume of electricity than silicon, it has been hailed as the next generation material since its development in 2004.

Graphene holds characters similar to those of metal, and thus is difficult to cut off current, something which posed an obstacle to the development of a semiconductor with this material. The think tank has overcome this barrier through a method that integrates graphene with silicon.

Partial Solar Eclipse to Take Place on Monday Morning

Pazartesi Sabahı Kısmi Güneş Tutulması Gerçekleşecek

Pazartesi sabahı ülkenin her yerinde kısmi bir güneş tutulması görülecek.

Kore Astronomi ve Uzay Enstitüsü, pazartesi sabahı 6:23 ve 8:48 saatleri arasında gerçekleşeceğini ve kısmi ay tutulmasında ayın güneşi kısmen kapatacağını söyledi.

Sabah 7:30 sularında dünya ve güneşin arasından geçen ay, güneşi kapatacak.

Japonya'da bazı güney ve Amerika'nın batı bölgelerinde güneş ve ay aynı hizada olduğu zaman halkalı güneş tutulması gerçekleşecek, böylelikle güneş ayın çevresindeki parlak bir halka olarak görülecek.

Bir sonraki gözlenebilen Kore Yarımadası tutulmasının, 2016 yılının mart ayında gerçekleşmesi bekleniyor.

A partial solar eclipse will be visible from all locations in the nation on Monday morning.

The Korea Astronomy and Space Institute said a partial solar eclipse where the sun will be partially covered by the moon and will take place from 6:23 a.m. to 8:48 a.m. on Monday.

The sun will be most obscured by the moon passing between it and the earth around 7:30 a.m.

From some southern areas in Japan and western areas of the United States, an annular eclipse will take place where the sun and moon will be almost exactly in line, so that the sun will appear as a bright ring around the moon.

The next observable eclipse from the Korean Peninsula is expected to take place in March, 2016.

Güney Kore'de Kısmi Güneş Tutulması Görüldü

Kısmi güneş tutulmasında etkilenen güneşi gösteren bu kompozit fotoğraf 21 Mayıs 2012 tarihinde Seoul'de çekildi.

Pazartesi sabahı ülke genelinde kısmi bir güneş tutulması görüldü.

Seoul'deki tutulma, sabah 6:23'de başladı ve 8:48'de sona erdi. Sabah 7:32 sularında ay, güneşin yüzde 80'ini kapattı.

Gökyüzünün açık olması nedeniyle bu olağanüstü olay Güney Kore'de görünebildi.

2010 yılının 15 Ocak ayından sonra Kore'de görülen ilk kısmi güneş tutulmasıydı. 2016 yılının mart ayında yarımadadan bir sonraki tutulmanın görülmesi bekleniyor.

A partial solar eclipse could be seen across the nation on Monday morning.

The eclipse began at 6:23 a.m. and ended at 8:48 a.m. in Seoul. Up to 80 percent of the sun was obscured by the moon at 7:32 a.m.

Due to the clear skies, the phenomenon was visible across South Korea.

It was the first visible partial solar eclipse in Korea since January 15th, 2010. The next one visible from the peninsula is expected to occur in March 2016.

Busan Int'l Motor Show Sees Record 490,000 Visitors

Busan Uluslararası Motor Fuarı 490.000 Rekor Ziyaretçi Görüyor

158 bin kişi, pazartesi günü Buda'nın doğum gününde Busan Uluslararası Motor Fuarı'ndan ayrıldı.

Fuar sekreterliğinin belirttiğine göre geçen cuma, fuar açıldığında, yaklaşık olarak 60 bin katılımcı olduğu ve bunun cumartesi günü neredeyse ikiye katlanarak 110 bine ulaştı. Pazar günü, 171 bin yüksek katılım oranı görüldüğünü belirtti.

Geçen cuma ile pazartesi günleri arasında, motor fuarına 490.000 katılımcının ziyaret ettiği hesaplandı.

Sekreterlikten bir görevli, Busan Motor Fuarının, bu yılki fuarın bir milyon hedefini gölgede bırakacağını ekleyerek, arka arkaya dört yıldır bir milyondan fazla ziyaretçiyi ağırladığını söyledi.

More than 158-thousand people checked out the Busan International Motor Show 2012 on the Buddha’s Birthday Monday.

The show's secretariat says opening day last Friday drew roughly 60-thousand visitors, and attendance almost doubled on Saturday to 110-thousand. He said Sunday saw an even higher turnout of 171-thousand people.

Between last Friday and Monday, 490-thousand people were estimated to have visited the motor show.

An official of the secretariat said the Busan motor show has had more than one million visitors for four consecutive years, noting the event is likely to eclipse the one-million mark this year as well.

ETRI Develops Breast Cancer Diagnosis System

ETRI, Meme Kanserini Teşhis Sistemi Geliştirdi

Elektronik ve Telekomünikasyon Araştırma Enstitüsü (ETRI), meme kanserini taraması için radyasyon içermeyen görüntüleme teşhis sistemi geliştirdi.

Salı günü Kore İletişim Komisyonu (KCC), enstitünün üç gigahertz frekans ile radyo dalgalarını kullanan teşhis sistemi geliştirdiğini söyledi.

Mevcut teşhis sistemleri genellikle bir iki santimetreyi aşan tümörleri saptarken, yeni sistem beş milimetre kadar küçük bir tümörü teşhis edebiliyor.

Kore İletişim Komisyonu yetkilisi, radyasyon kullanılmayan yeni teşhis sisteminin insanlar için zararsız olduğunu söyledi.

Kore İletişim Komisyonu, temmuz ayında Ulusal Seoul Üniversitesi Hastanesi ile klinik çalışmaların başlayacağını açıkladı ve 2017 yılında teşhis sisteminin yaygınlaşması bekleniyor.

The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) has developed a radiation-free imaging diagnosis system for breast cancer screening.

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) said on Tuesday that the institute had developed the diagnosis system, which uses radio waves with a frequency of three gigahertz.

The new system allows the detection of a tumor as small as five millimeters, while existing diagnosis systems typically detect only tumors that exceed one to two centimeters.

A KCC official said the new diagnosis system is harmless to humans as it does not use radiation.

The KCC said that it will launch clinical trials with Seoul National University Hospital in July and expects to commercialize the diagnosis system in 2017.

Huntington's Disease Treatment with Stem Cells Discovered by Local Team

Huntington Hastalığına Yerel Ekip Tarafından Keşfedilen Kök Hücreli Tedavi

Yerel bir araştırma ekibi, huntington hastalığını tedavi etmek için kök hücreleri kullanarak bir yol bulduklarını açıkladı.

Cha Hastanesi kök hücre araştırma merkezinden Profesör Song Ji-hwan'ın liderlik yaptığı ekip Perşembe günü huntingtın hastası bir kadından alınan deri dokusunun kök hücre kullanıldığında nöronal başkalaşım fark edildiğini söyledi.

Huntington hastalığı, on yıl içinde 100 bin kişiyi etkilemiş nörolojik dejeneratif genetik bozukluk türü. Bu hastalık için henüz bir tedavi geliştirilemedi.

Song'un ekibi; tedavi için kullanılacak olan sinir hücreleri, hastalardan alınacak kök hücrelerden yaratılacağı için bağışıklık sisteminin reddetmesi engellenebilir, dedi.

Ekibin son çalışmaları, lider biyoloji dergisi Kök Hücreler'in internet sitesinde yayınlandı.

A local research team says it has found a way to treat Huntington’s disease using stem cells.

The team led by Professor Song Ji-hwan of Cha Hospital’s stem cell research institute said Thursday that it had successfully realized neuronal differentiation using stem cells taken from the skin tissues of a woman with Huntington’s disease.

Huntington’s disease is a type of neurodegenerative genetic disorder that affects up to ten out of 100-thousand people. A treatment for the disease has yet to be developed.

Song’s team said that immune rejection response can be avoided in the transplantation process as somatic cells created with stem cells from patients are used for treatment.

The team’s recent study was published on the Web site of the leading biological journal, Stem Cells.

S.Korea to Launch Naro Rocket in October

Eğitim, Bilim ve Teknoloji Bakanı Lee Ju-ho, Güney Kore'nin uzay boşluğuna 3. roket fırlatma girişiminin önümüzdeki Ekim ayında gerçekleşeceğini söyledi.

Lee cuma günü Moskova'ya yaptığı ziyaret sırasında Güney Koreli gazetecilere, Khrunichev Devlet Şirketinde Naro roketinin ilk evresinin tamamlanışını kendisinin onayladığını söyledi.

Lee, ilk aşama roketin Temmuz veya Ağustos'ta Güney Kore'ye nakledileceğini ve fırlatılmasının da aksama olmadan Ekim ayında yapılacağını söyledi.

Bakan, 2 başarısız görevin ardından bu 3. fırlatılışın, Güney Kore ve Rusya'nın ilk 2 fırlatmadaki problemleri çözmesinden dolayı başarılı olacağını söyledi.

Lee, 2021 yılı itibarıyla Güney Kore teknolojisiyle uzaya alçak yörüngeli uygulama teknolojili uydu göndermek için Güney Kore'nin kendi uzay araçlarını geliştirmesinin önemini vurguladı.

Minister of Education, Science and Technology Lee Ju-ho says South Korea’s third attempt to launch a rocket into outer space will be carried out this coming October.

Lee told South Korean reporters while on a visit to Moscow Friday that he personally confirmed the completion of the first stage of Naro rocket at Khrunichev State Company.

Lee said the first-stage rocket would be transported to South Korea sometime in July or August, and the launch would take place without a hitch in October.

The minister emphasized that this third launch, which comes after two failed missions, would succeed as South Korea and Russia have solved problems raised in the first two launches.

Lee also stressed the importance of developing South Korea’s own space launch vehicle to put a low-orbit applications technology satellite into space with South Korean technology by the year 2021.

Samsung Electronics’ latest smartphone, the Galaxy S III, has received acclaims from around the world after it was launched in 28 countries on May 29.

The launch in Europe, the Middle East and Africa has spawned countless reviews.

GSMArena, a large mobile phone review website, compared the Galaxy S III to the Bugatti Veyron, a high-end sports car, and said it was “the most amazing blend of performance and features we are likely to see this year.”

Another IT-focused website CNET said the smartphone was the Android’s Ferrari due to its 4.8 inch super-AMOLED display and a quad-core processor wrapped within an extremely thin frame.

Other IT review websites including the United Kingdom’s Stuff and Mobile Choice gave the Galaxy S III five stars out of five and designated it a “hot buy.”

Uluslararası Atom Enerjisi Ajansı (IAEA) Endüstriyel Güvenlik Departmanı Başkanı Miroslav Lipar (ortada), 11 Haziran 2012 tarihinde güneydoğu şehri Busan'daki Gori Nükleer Santrali'ndeki basın toplantısı sırasında konuşma yaptı. Lipar liderliğindeki sekiz IAEA üyesi, santralin dörtte birine askıya alınan Gori-1 reaktöründe yapılan özel incelemelerin sonuçlarını açıklamak için basın toplantısı düzenledi. 4 Haziranda başlayan inceleme, şubat ayında bir güvenlik kontrolü sırasında 12 dakika boyunca elektriksiz kalan reaktör olayına takiben yapıldı. Nükleer karşıtı sivil grupların üyeleri, reaktörün yeniden başlatılması yerine kalıcı olarak kapatılmasını talep etti.
