With the election just one day away, South Korea's leading presidential candidates wrapped up their campaigns Tuesday with the jury still out on who will win the tightly contested race.

Front-runners Park Geun-hye of the ruling Saenuri Party and Moon Jae-in of the main opposition Democratic United Party (DUP) are scheduled to make their last visits to some of the nation's largest electoral districts on an extensive multi-stop trail stretching the length of the country.

Voter Turnout for 18th Presidential Election Tallied at 75.8%

18. başkanlık seçimlerinde seçmen katılımı %75.8 olarak gerçekleşti. Bu sayı, 40.5 milyon seçmenden 30.72 milyonunun oy kullandığını gösteriyor.

Katılım, 2007 yılındaki bir önceki başkanlık seçimlerinde kaydedilen %63 katılım oranına göre %12.8 artarken, 2002 yılındaki 16. başkanlık seçimindeki %70'e göre %5 kadar arttı.

Bölge olarak en yüksek katılım Gwangju'da %80.4 ile gerçekleşti. Onu, %79.7 ile Daegu ve %78.5 ile Ulsan takip etti. Gyeongsang ve Jeolla Eyaletleri ile Chungcheong Eyaleti'ndeki Daejeon'da katılım, ulusal ortalamanın üstünde.

Seoul'de katılım oranı %75.2 olarak gerçekleşirken, Güney Chungcheong %72.9 ile en düşük katılım oranına sahip oldu.

Voter turnout for the 18th presidential election has been tentatively tallied at 75-point-eight percent as 30-point-72 million out of 40-point-five million eligible voters casted their ballots.

The turnout represents a 12-point-eight percentage point increase from the 63 percent recorded in the previous presidential election in 2007 and a five percentage point rise from the 70-point-eight percent posted in the 16th presidential election in 2002.

By region, the turnout in Gwangju was the highest at 80-point-four percent, followed by Daegu at 79-point-seven percent, Ulsan at 78-and-a-half percent. Turnouts in Gyeongsang and Jeolla Provinces and Daejeon in Chungcheong topped the national average.

Voter turnout in South Chungcheong was the lowest at 72-point-nine percent, while that in Seoul came to 75-point-two percent, which is six tenths of a percentage point lower than the average turnout.

The National Election Commission (NEC) said that the ballot counting is underway at 252 ballot counting stations nationwide. The winner will likely be announced at around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
