Seoul Court Denies US Extradition of Child Porn Website Operator

Seoul Mahkemesi Çocuk Porno Sitesi İşleten Suçlunun ABD’ye İadesini Reddetti

Bir Seoul mahkemesi, dünyanın en büyük çocuk pornografisi web sitesinin operatörü olan Son Jong-woo'nun ABD'ye iadesi dava talebini reddetti.

Seoul Yüksek Mahkemesi pazartesi günü verdiği kararda Son'un ABD'ye iade edilmesinin, "Videoya Hoş Geldiniz" web sitesindeki çocuk cinsel sömürüsü iddiası hakkında devam eden soruşturmanın kesintiye uğrayacağını söyledi.

İçerik tüketicilerini ve web sitesinin üyelerini tanımlayarak çocuk pornosu suçlarının ortadan kaldırılması çağrısında bulundu.

Son’u temize çıkarmayacağını vurgulayan mahkeme, egemen bir devlet olarak Güney Kore'nin 24 yaşındaki çocuğu cezai olarak cezalandırma hakkını kullanması gerektiğini söyledi.

Karanlık web'de çocuk pornosu üretimi ve dağıtımı için 18 aylık hapis cezasını bitiren Son, ABD federal büyük jürisi tarafından çocuk pornosu reklamı ve dağıtımı, kara para aklama ve diğer suçlar ile suçlandı.

A Seoul court has denied the prosecution's request for the U.S. extradition of Son Jong-woo, the operator of what was the world's largest child pornography website.

In its ruling on Monday, the Seoul High Court said should Son be extradited to the U.S., an ongoing investigation into alleged child sexual exploitation surrounding Son's "Welcome to Video" website would be disrupted.

It called for an eradication of child porn crimes by identifying the content consumers and the website's members.

Stressing that it was not exonerating Son, the court said South Korea, as a sovereign state, should exercise its right to criminally punish the 24-year-old.

Son, who has finished his 18-month sentence for producing and distributing child porn on the dark web, has been indicted by a U.S. federal grand jury on charges of advertising and distributing child porn, money laundering and other crimes.

Police Investigating Cab Driver for Negligent Homicide

Polis İhmal Cinayeti İçin Taksi Sürücüsünü Soruşturuyor

Police are investigating allegations that an emergency patient inside an ambulance died after a taxi blocked the way.

In a briefing on Monday, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner Lee Yong-pyo said the cab driver has already been booked on charges of obstruction of business. However, officers are looking into whether the driver may have violated other laws including homicide by willful negligence.

Lee said the taxi driver, the ambulance driver and the patient's family who rode in the ambulance have all been questioned and police also received a statement from the hospital where the patient died.

A petition appealing for the cab driver's punishment first appeared on the presidential petition website on Friday and has since drawn support from 560-thousand citizens.

Dünyanın en büyük çocuk porno sitelerinden birinin hüküm giymiş yöneticisi Son Jong-woo, Güney Kore mahkemesinin kısa süre önce ABD'ye iade talebini reddetmesinin ardından başka bir polis soruşturmasıyla karşı karşıya.

Son Jong-woo, the convicted operator of one of the world's largest child porn sites, faces another police investigation after a South Korean court recently rejected an extradition request from the United States.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on Wednesday asked the police to investigate new allegations that Son concealed the proceeds from his crimes and fabricated documents; charges he had not faced in his previous trial.

The charges were filed with the prosecution by Son's father in May, a move widely seen as an attempt to open a new legal case against Son in South Korea and prevent him from being sent to the United States.

The father has claimed that the prosecution had investigated those charges but did not indict, saying that his son should be punished for concealing the proceeds of his crimes in South Korea, not in the United States.

The prosecution ordered the police to investigate the charges after the Seoul High Court denied Son's extradition to the United States last Monday. Son finished serving an 18-month prison term in April, but was taken back into custody pending a decision on his extradition. He was released on Monday after the court's decision.

S. Korea to Provide 12 Million Dollars in Additional Pandemic Aid

Güney Kore hükümeti COVID-19 salgınıyla zaiyat veren daha fazla ülkeye yardım edecek.

Dışişleri Bakanlığı'na göre perşembe günü, hükümet, 32 ülkeye koruyucu maskeler ve teşhis kitleri de dahil olmak üzere 12 milyon dolarlık ek insani yardım sağlamaya karar verdi.

Güney Kore 97 ülkeye 41 milyon dolar yardım sağladı, ancak güncellenen plan 11 yeni ve halihazırda yardım alan 21 ülkeye ek yardım sağlıyor.

Seoul, özellikle salgın hastalıklardan etkilenen Brezilya da dahil olmak üzere Orta ve Güney Amerika'da bulunan 18 ülkeye ve kayıpların arttığı Irak ve Afganistan'a yardım sağlayacak.

The South Korean government will help more countries suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, the government has decided to provide 12-million dollars in additional humanitarian aid, including protective masks and diagnostic kits, to 32 countries.

South Korea has been providing 41-million dollars in aid to 97 countries, but the updated plan provides aid to eleven new countries as well as additional aid to 21 counties already receiving assistance.

Seoul will provide aid to 18 countries located in Central and South America including Brazil, which has been especially hard hit by the pandemic, and to Iraq and Afghanistan, where losses are climbing.

South Korea's pandemic aid now totals 53-million dollars.

The ministry said the government will continue to provide humanitarian aid to where it's most needed and to cooperate with the international community to overcome the pandemic.

Yetkililerin açıklamasına göre; ana yangın öğlen 12.17’de söndürüldü fakat bazı yerlerde küçük yangınlar devam etti.

41 itfaiye aracı bölgeye gönderildi.

Yetkililer yangının fabrikada tesis değiştirme çalışmaları sürerken başladığından şüpheleniyor ve binanın içinde insanların olup olmadığını araştırıyor.

A fire at a plastic manufacturing factory in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, on Saturday morning has injured eleven people, three of whom are in critical condition.

Authorities have issued a level-2 response to the blaze, which involves a joint operation by five to nine fire stations.

Officials said they were able to put out the main blaze by 12:17 p.m. with some smaller fires still smoldering.

Forty-one fire trucks have been mobilized to the site.

Authorities suspect the fire began while facility replacement work was underway at the factory and are trying to confirm whether people were inside the building.

Restriction Lifted on Using Solid Fuel for Space Launch Vehicles

The presidential office says that a restriction on using solid fuel for space launch vehicles has been lifted thanks to a revision to South Korea-U.S. missile guidelines.

Deputy national security adviser Kim Hyun-chong told reporters that the revision was implemented on Tuesday.

Kim said with the change, all South Korean companies, research institutes and individuals will be able to freely study, develop, produce and possess various types of launch vehicles without any restrictions, including those driven by solid fuel and hybrid engines.

The South Korea-U.S. missile guidelines were devised in 1979 to regulate South Korea’s development of ballistic missiles. The latest revision was the fourth to be made.

Health officials confirmed on Monday that Jun Kwang-hoon tested positive for the coronavirus and added he will be placed in isolation at a medical facility for treatment.

The official said those who came into contact with the pastor during a Liberation Day rally he led over the weekend should also isolate themselves and be tested without delay.

When and how he contracted the virus remain unclear.

Aside from the pastor, 315 other members of Sarang Jeil Church tested positive as of Monday noon.

Authorities Urge Public to Maintain Strict Quarantine during Chuseok

Yetkililer Chuseok Boyunca Sıkı Karantina Kurallarına Uyulmasını İstedi

Güney Kore’deki yetkililer, tatil sezonunun COVID-19 salgını için bir dönüm noktası olacağini belirterek Chuseok şükran günü haftası için halkı sıkı karantina kurallarına uymaya çağırdı. 

Merkez Afet Yönetimi Genel Merkeziden üst düzey yetkili Yoon Tae-ho, Çarşamba günü gerçekleştirdiği basın brifingde, günlük bulaşın Ağustos sonu yükselmesinin ardından düşüşe geçtiğini fakat Chuseok ile birlikte bulaş sayısının artabileceğini söyledi.

Yoon, tatil sırasında ülke virüsün yayılmasını engelleyemezse, bunun günlük enfeksiyon sayısında yeniden canlanma olacağı anlamına gelebileceğini söyledi.

Çarşamba günü gece 12 itibariyle korona virüsüne yakalananların sayısı 113 oldu. Bu, son 24 saat içinde görülen 38 vakanın neredeyse 3 katı. Grup bulaşmalarının sayısı ise artmaya devam ediyor.

Chuseok öncesi ve sonrasında devam eden iki haftalık özel karantina döneminde hükümet, mevsimsel etkinliklerin kitlesel toplanmalara dönüşmemesine özen gösteriyor.

Authorities in South Korea urged the public to maintain strict quarantine during the Chuseok thanksgiving holiday this week, saying the holiday season could serve as an inflection point for the COVID-19 epidemic.

At a press briefing on Wednesday, Yoon Tae-ho, a senior official at the Central Disaster Management Headquarters, said the daily increase infections has slowed after peaking in late August, but Chuseok could become the inflection point.

Yoon warned that if the nation fails to curb the spread of the virus during the holiday, there's a chance of a resurgence in the daily number of infections.

As of 12:00 a.m. Wednesday, 113 additional people tested positive for the virus, nearly tripling from 38 reported 24 hour earlier amid continued cases of sporadic group infections.

During the ongoing two-week special quarantine period before and after Chuseok, the government is making sure that the seasonal festivities will not lead to any mass gatherings.

Shutdown orders will remain in place for eleven types of facilities deemed to carry high risk for infection in the capital region, including karaoke rooms and indoor gyms, while restaurants and franchise coffee shops will need to keep a certain distance between seats.

Outside the capital area, one-week operation bans will be in place for five types of "high-risk" facilities, including clubs and bars.
