Oegosan Onggi Village

Kore'de, dünyanın "tek ve sadece Onggi üreticisi, Oegosan Onggi Köyü idi. Onggi, Ulju, Ulsan, ve Kore'nin en büyük geleneksel ve kültürel merkezi olarak, atalarının bilgelik ve zekası ile devam ettirerek Kore'nin Onggi % 50 den fazlasını burada üretmektedirler.
Oegosan Onggi Köyü, 1950'den önce Onggi'nin üretimine 350 Onggi ustası ile başladı. Kore 1960 ~ 70 'lere kadar sadece Seoul'e değil, aynı zamanda ABD ve Japonya ile yurtdışında ihraç etti.
1980 yılında tanıtımı yapıldı ve birçok yabancı ustalar tarafından ziyaret edilerek daha da gelişti.
1980' den beri sanayileşme talep edildi ve Onggiden başka şekiller üretilmeye başlandı. Bugün, Onggi üretimi 40 hane dışında 128 hane ile üretilir. Onggi Köyü sakinleri bu ürünleri gelenek ve modernlik uyumlaştırılması ile üreterek Onggi kültürünü yeniden canlandırmak için çalışmaktadırlar.

In Korea, the worlds’ one-and-only Onggi producer, Oegosan Onggi Village, Ulju, Ulsan, as Korea’s biggest traditional and cultural center of Onggi, produces more than 50% of Korea’s Onggi to continue the wisdom and intelligence of our ancestors. Oegosan Onggi Village that had started producing Onggi in 1950’s to become the heavenly producer of Onggi was gathered by 350 Onggi makers and craftsmen of Korea in 1960’s~70’s and has exported their Onggi not only to Seoul, but also overseas to US and Japan. As it was introduced in a publication in 1980, it flourished even more being visited by many foreign craftsmen.

Since 1980’s, as the industrialization resulted in declination of demand and interest in Onggi, 40 out of 128 households produce Onggi today. Today, the villagers of Onggi Village are trying hard to revitalize the Onggi culture by producing variety of products harmonizing the traditions and modernity.
