Kore Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayisi, Güney Kore Ordusu ve Donanması için yaptığı 20 kg’lik Night Intruder 300 Drone’den sonra, MQ9’dan daha ağır olan 65000 kg turboprop-motorlu Kus-9’u geliştiriyor. Seoul, 2006 KAI ve ADD’nin tamamen HALE UAV tarafından kontrol edilen, 2007 yada 2008’de Night Intruder’i yenilemek için bir medium-altitue long-endurance (MALE) UAV fırlatmaya çalıştıklarını ortaya çıkardı. UAV’i geliştirme sürecinde, KAI uçuş testi kadar iyi olan tasarım ve imalat sistemiyle ilgili ileri teknoloji ürünleri elde etti. Following its 290-kg Night Intruder 300 drone for the South Korean Army and Navy, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) is developing the 6500-kg turboprop-engined Kus-9, which is heavier than the MQ-9.

Seoul revealed that as of 2006 KAI and ADD were working to launch a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) UAV to replace the Night Intruder by 2007 or 2008, to be followed by a fully autonomous HALE UAV. In the process of developing own UAV, KAI has gained sophisticated technologies related to system design and production as well as flight-testing. This technology and experience will serve as the basis for expanding the business spheres into medium altitude long-range (MALE) UAVs, Upgrade of Night Intruder, Tactical UAVs and commercial applications. In the unmanned aircraft scene, Korea Aerospace Industries has showcased its new Night Intruder 2, which is a development of the Night Intruder 300, the airframe of which has a strong resemblance with that of the Denel Seeker.
