Naver Star Column – Lee Hi Part 2

Lee Hayi için 2012 değişim yaşadığı bir yıl oldu. Kpop Star yarışmasında ikinci oldu ve YG Entertainment ile bir anlaşma imzaladı. Hayatı birden bire değişiverdi. 25 gün içinde her müzik listesinde ilk sırada yer alan “1,2,3,4” adlı teklisiyle çıkış yaparak, “Canavar Çaylak” lakabının sahibi oldu. Sıradan bir kızdan süper stara geçiş yaparken, günlük hayatı da değişti. Vokal eğitimi, dans eğitimi, uzun süren kayıtlar, müzik video çekimi ve birçok TV kanalı, günlük programında yer aldı. “Sadece okulumda ve evimde sosyalim, neden?”

Normalde özgür ruhlu bir kişiliğe sahibim. Annem şu anda daha itaatkar ve derli toplu olduğum için çok mutlu. Önceden arkadaşlarımla takılmayı ve yeni kişilerle tanışıp arkadaş olmak istediklerime merhaba demeyi seviyordum. Okulda, sadece yakın olduğum bir kaç arkadaşla takılmak yerine herkesle takılıyordum. Fakat sadece okulda ve evde takıldık. Çok fazla iznim yoktu bu yüzden her yere gidemiyordum. Çıkış yaptığımda insanlar sık sık kareokeye gidip gidemeyeceğimi sordu. Gerçekten gitmek istedim fakat gidemedim. Evden okula gittiğimde iznim dolmuştu.

Bu yüzden öğle arası veya molalarda sınıftaki arkadaşlarımla takıldım. Dışarıda yapacak çok şey yoktu bu yüzden arkadaşımın evine gitmek ve masa oyunları oynamak istedim. Şansıma masa oyunları oynayabileceğimiz ve sevdiğimiz şarkıları dinleyebileceğimiz büyük bir evi olan arkadaşım vardı. Orta okulumda kız-erkek karışıktı ama sevgilim olmadı. Bu doğru! ^^ Okulum, öğrencilerin sadece hemcinsleriyle değil de herkesle arkadaş olmasını vurguluyordu. Özellikle sınıfım çok arkadaş canlısıydı ve sık sık beraber takıldık. Bir kız ya da erkek olmanın hiçbir önemi yoktu.



“Bir ay 10,000 won ($10) ile nasıl yaşanır?”

Her ay sadece 10 dolar alıyorum. YG'ye geldiğimden beri paraya pek ihtiyacım olmuyor. Çıkış yaptığımda herkes çok iyi para alacağımı söylemişti fakat ailem tutarlı. Parayı hiçbir şekilde harcamayacaklarını söylediler.

Fakat orta okuldaki harçlığım çok az değil miydi? Bir de buna evden okula gidiş-geliş ücretleri de dahil oldu. Bu yüzden otobüse binmedim. Ablam benden 10 kat daha fazla para alıyordu. Ailem, “Hayi, ona verdiğimiz paranın birazından para kazanır” diyip duruyordu bu yüzden gülünç miktarda para vermeye devam ettiler.

Daha fazlasını istemedim ve bütçemi kısıtladım. Ailem beni övdüğünde onları hayal kırıklığına uğratmak istemedim. Yanlarına gidip onlardan para almak istemedim bu nedenle sadece 10 dolarla yaşamaya karar verdim. Sadece kar veya yağmur yağdığında otobüse bindim ve evde yemek yedim.

İlk başta harçlığım verildiğinde 5 dolarını otobüse ayırdım ve harcamadım. Geriye sadece 5 dolarım kalıyordu. Bu yüzden sınavlarda başarılı olmalıydım. Sınavlarımı bitirdiğimde dışarı çıkmak ve para almak için ailemden izin aldım. Pek başarılı biri değildim bu yüzden sadece 10 dolar aldım.

Ailem bana kıyafet veya kitap almadı. Bana küçük bir miktarda para verdiklerinden bu yana parayı düzenli bir şekilde bankaya yatırdılar. 8. sınıftayken bana banka hesap özetini verdiler. Babam, iyi yapabileceğimi bilmediğini ve banka hesabı konusunda bana güvendiğini söyledi. Sadece çabaladığım için verdiğini söyledi. Ne kadar para olduğunu söylemiyorum. ^^



“Akıllı telefonlar çok hoş!”

6. sınıftayken cep telefonu kullanmaya başladım. Arkadaşlarıma göre oldukça geçti. Küçük ve basit bir telefondu. Ailem 18 dolarlık az ödemeli paketlerden almıştı. Telefona çok düşkün değildim yani çok arama yapmıyordum bu yüzden hep biraz param oluyordu. Şimdi ailem kullanmam için yeterli miktarda para veriyor.

Seçmelerden sonra eşyalarımı YG'nin yurduna taşırken akıllı bir telefon aldım. Yazarlarla iletişim kurmak gerekiyordu fakat sıradan bir telefondu ve açmamıştım. Aileme akıllı bir telefona ihtiyacım olduğunu, her zaman yanımda olacağını söylediğimde hemen telefonumu değiştirdiler. Kpop Star bana para değil araba vermişti. Arabayı aileme verdim ve annem de bana akıllı telefon aldı. Ailem parayla ilgili her şeyle başa çıkabiliyor.



“Babam da şarkıcı olmak istemişti.”

Babam da şarkıcı olmayı hayal etmişti fakat aile sorunları vardı bu yüzden şarkıcı olmanın ona uygun olmadığını düşündü ve hayalinden vazgeçti. Aileme şarkıcı olmak istediğimi söylediğimde babam beni destekledi ama annem hep karşı çıktı. Ailemden izin alabilmek için onların önünde bir CD çalar ile şarkı söyledim fakat hiçbir zaman iyi olduğumu söylemediler. Jürilerin yorumlarının olumlu olacağını umuyordum fakat aileme gelince sertçe “uygun değilsin” şeklinde bitti.

Fakat o zamanlar gerçekten zayıf bir sesim vardı. Bu yüzden erkek bir sanatçının söylediği şarkıyı seslendirdim. Memnun ve mutlu olana kadar söyledim. Bazı notalara ulaşamayınca tekrar tekrar denedim. Daha sonra birden bire yüksek notaları bile söyleyebildim. Ergenlik dönemimde sesim inceldi. Ama önceden ben konuştuğumda annemin arkadaşları evde bir erkek olup olmadığını sorardı. Sanırım annem yüksek notalara ulaşamadığım için şarkıcı olamayacağımı düşündü.

2012 was a life changing year for Lee Hayi. She won 2nd place in SBS Kpop Star Audition and signed with YG Entertainment. Her life was literally uprooted and changed drastically. She debuted with her single “1,2,3,4” that hit number 1 in every music chart for 25 days, earning her the nick name “Monster Newbie”. From an average girl to this super star, her daily life has also been changed. Vocal training, dance training, long night recording session, music video shooting and many TV appearances fill her daily schedule. She is currently residing in YG dorm and misses her family dearly and because she is on diet, she is unable to eat some delicious food for a while. I only socialize around in school and at home, why?

I have a free spirited personality. Right now, my mom is very happy that I am more obedient and neater. When I was younger, I liked to hang with friends and just explore and say hi to the person I wanted to be friends with. In school, I hung out with everyone instead of hanging out with only few close friends. But we only hung out in school and at home. I didn’t get much allowances so I couldn’t hang out anywhere else. When I debuted, people asked me if I went to Kareoke a lot. I really wanted to go but I couldn’t. My allowance was done after I went from home to school.

So I hung out with friends during lunch time and breaks in between class a lot. There was not much to do outside so I would go to my friend’s house and play board games. Luckily, I had a friend who owned a big house so many of us would go to the house and play board games and listen to singers we liked. My middle school was co-ed but I didn’t get a chance to get a boyfriend. It’s true! ^^ My school emphasized on being friends with everyone rather than separating the genders. My class especially was really friendly so we would hang together a lot. It didn’t matter if you were a boy or a girl.



How to live with 10,000 won ($10) for a month

I only get $10 per month. Ever since I came to YG, I didn’t need much money. When I debuted, people told me that I would make a lot of money but my parents are handling it well. They told me that they won’t use my money anyway.

But wasn’t my allowance so small in middle school? This was including the bus fee from home to school back and forth. So I didn’t ride the bus. My sister got 10 times more money than I did. My parents kept saying that “Hayi makes money from the little we give her” so they kept giving me the ridiculous amount.

I didn’t ask for more and stuck with my budget. When my parents praised me, I didn’t want to disappoint them. I didn’t want to go to them and ask for more money so I decided to live with only $10. I only rode the bus when it was snowing or raining and I always ate at home.

First, when given the allowance, I put $5 away in my bus card so I can’t use it. And I only had $5 to live by. So I had to do good on exams. When I am done with exams, I carefully ask to hang out afterwards and my parents give me money. But I wasn’t good at studying so I only got $10.

My parents didn’t really buy me clothes or books. Since they gave me a small allowance, they regularly put in money in my bank account. When I was in 8th grade, they gave me the bank account statement. My dad told me that he didn’t know I would do this well and that he trusts me with the bank account. He said that he is only giving it to me because of my efforts. I’m not telling how much was in it though. ^^



Smart phones are nice!

I started using a cell phone since 6th grade. I was pretty late among my friends. It was a small and basic phone. My parents signed me up for the smaller plan of $18. I wasn’t really big on phone so I didn’t pick up or make many calls so I always had some money left. Right now, my parents put decent amount of usage money but until 7th grade, my plan was the basic one.

After the audition, I bought a smart phone when I was reloading my things to YG dormitory. I needed to contact writers but since I had that basic phone, I didn’t really pick up. When I told my parents that I need a smart phone so I can keep it with me at all times, they changed my phone right away. Kpop Star didn’t give me money but they gave me a car. I gave it to my parents and my mom bought me a smart phone. My parents handle anything money related.



My dad also wanted to be a singer

My dad also dreamed of becoming a singer but he had family issues and he, personally, thought that he wasn’t fit to be a singer and gave up that dream. When I told my parents that I wanted to be a singer, my dad trusted me but my mom opposed it all the way. I wanted to be approved by my parents so I sang in front of them with a CD player but they never told me once that I was good. With judges, I had hope that some response might be positive but with my parents, it was a harsh “you are not fit” ending.

But at the time, I had a really low voice. So I sang a male song. I sang until I was satisfied and happy. When I couldn’t reach certain notes, I tried again the next day and the next day and on. Then suddenly, I was able to hit the high notes. Also puberty thinned my voice out. But before, my mom’s friends would ask if there is a guy in the house when I talked. I think my mom thought that since I wasn’t able to hit high notes that I couldn’t be a singer.

Is the story before I became a singer nice?? I have more things to write but I do not know how to put it down in words so it’s very hard. ㅠ ㅠ I envy those writers who can write so well! Naver Star Column – Lee Hi Part 3



Son zamanlarda Lee Hi, dans provaları ve kayıtlar için kendini stüdyoya kapattı. Ancak hayranları için YG'deki stajyerlik günlerini yazmaya vakit buldu. Kan gubu B ve birinci sınıftayken hayali sınıf başkanı olmaktı. Şimdilik hayali üniversiteye girmekten çok, daha da mükemmel şarkıcı olmak. Bu, Naver Star Column'daki Lee Hi'nin son makalesi olduğu için biraz üzgün hissediyorum. “BIGBANG'den TOP, Chris Brown ve Johnny Depp'i seviyorum.”

Bir şeyler yapmayı seven biriyim ancak her şeyi %100 iyi yapan bir tip değilim.. Bir görevi üstlendiğimde elimden gelenin en iyisini yapmaya çalışıyorum. Ama, yaptığım şeyi sevmiyorsam, tam olarak yapmam. Bu yüzden büyüklerimin hepsi inatçı biri olduğumu söylüyor ^^. TOP, Chris Brown gibi sanatçıları ve Johnny Depp gibi oyuncuları seviyorum. Üçündebulunan ortak nokta hepsinin olgun oluşu. Johnny Depp ahjussinin yaşına rağmen çok seksi bir cazibesi var, fakat başkalarının onu genç hissetmesine izin vermiyor, işte bu yüzden üçünü seviyorum.

Çıkış yaptıktan sonra hayran olduğum kişiler de değişti. Şimdi Yang Hyun Suk sajang-nim daha çekici gibi hissediyorum. Diğerlerinden farklı bir cazibesi var! Tıpkı Johnny Depp gibi orta yaşların verdiği çekicilik var ama daha çok bir babaymış gibi hissettiriyor!

Çıkış öncesi ve sonrası aynıydı. YG hala nasıl dans edeceğimi ve hatalarımı nasıl düzelteceğimi öğretiyor. Dürüst olmak gerekirse, çok iyi yönlerim yok fakat YG daha da mükemmel bir şarkıcı olmam için sürekli bir şeyler öğretiyor ve beni düzeltiyor. Bu yüzden patronuma şunu söylemek istiyorum: “Teşekkür ederim.” Şarkı söylerken YG gelip, geliştiğimi görmeyecek, dans provası sırasında gelecek. Bunun bana çok yardımı dokundu. Sık sık kayıt stüdyosuna geliyor ve sesimin canlandırdığı duyguları düzeltiyor. Diğer sunbaeler YG'nin korkunç ve katı olduğunu söylüyor fakat ben daha çok babammış gibi hissediyorum. YG beni azarladığında bunun bir azarlama olduğunu bile anlamıyorum.



“İlk klip, ilk televizyon programı, sıkı çalışacağım!”

Uyumaya pek vaktim yoktu ve yüksek topuklu ayakkabılar giymek zorunda olduğum için “1,2,3,4” klibinin çekimlerinin ilk üç günü gerçekten çok zordu, bu yüzden ağlamaya başlamıştım. Yüzümdeki makyajdan dolayı tuhaf hissediyordum. Herkese orijinal beni göstermek istemiştim ama çok makyaj vardı ve bunun biraz garip olacağını düşündüm..

Sunbaeler çektikleri klibi izlediklerinde “Ah, bu bölümün daha iyi olması için sıkı çalışmalıydım,” derdi fakat ben vazgeçecekmiş gibi hissettim. Çekimler sonrası daha iyisini yapamadığım için pişman oldum. İlk klip çekimimdi, bu yüzden bir çok zayıf nokta var ama herkesin bunu bir cazibe olarak algılamasını umuyorum.

İlk sahne performansından önce çılgın bir şekilde prova yapıyordum. Çünkü YG ilk çıkış sahnem olduğunu, sahne ve klip birbirinden farklı olduğu için iyi çalışmam gerektiğini söyledi. Egzersiz yaptıktan sonra akşam dörtten gece üç/dörde kadar pratik yapıyordum. Dansta bir değişiklik olursa daha da sıkı çalışıyordum...Aynı anda dans etmek, duygularımı ifade etmek ve şarkı söylemek...Sunbaelerim gerçekten ama gerçekten çok iyi...Ne kadar yorulurlarsa yorulsunlar hiçbir şey söylemiyorlar. Şimdi onların ne hissettiklerini anlayabiliyorum...



“Ani bir şekilde duyma problemi yaşadım. Artık şarkı söyleyemeyeceğimi düşündüm bu yüzden uzun bir süre üzüldüm.”

Klip çekimlerinden ilk sahneme kadar evde değil, şirketin yakınlarındaki bir yurtta kalıyordum. Gece üç veya dörde kadar pratik yapınca öğlen on bire kadar uyuyorum, uyanıp spor salonuna gidiyorum ve ardından yeni şarkılarımı kaydetmek üzere YG binasına gidiyorum.

Yurt evimden daha iyi. Annem “Böyle büyük bir apartmanda uyuyabiliyor musun?” diye sormuştu. Prova odası da iyi, bilgisayar, stereo sistemi, piyano ve kablosuz mikrofon var. Ayrıca yurdu kullanan tek kişi benim, fakat özellikleri diğerlerinden farklı.

Bedenim yorgun, sadece yemek yemek istiyorum fakat yiyemem, yine ağlamaya başladım. Sahnede güzel görünmek istiyorum bu yüzden egzersiz yapmak için tekrar spor salonuna gittim. Ama egzersiz gerçekten zordu. Bir kez aniden duyma problemi yaşadım, hastaneye gittim ve doktor bunun ani sağırlık olduğunu söyledi. Sürekli egzersiz yaptığım için hastalandım.

Şarkı söylerken, şarkının ortasında kulaklarımdan biri yine aniden sağırlaştı. Artık şarkı söyleyemeyeceğimi düşündüğüm için üzüldüm...Ama hastaneye gidip tedavi olduktan sonra iyileştim.

Spor salonunda üç farklı egzersiz yapan tek kişi benim. Kilomu ifşa edemem ama 6kg kilo verdiğimi söyleyebilirim.



“Hiç endişelenmeden et yiyebilmeyi istiyorum.”

Sabah onda kahvaltı yaptım, üç saat sonra öğle yemeği yiyeceğim. Ondan sonraki 3 saat sonra da akşam yemeği. Her gün sadece koçum ve beslenme uzmanı ahjummanın getirdiği menüdeki yemekleri yiyorum. Günün ortasında acıkınca yarım tatlı patates ve üç çeri domatesi yiyorum.

İlk kez kilomu kontrol altında tutuyorum. Böyle yaşayacağımı hiç bilmiyordum. Fakat performanslarıma bakınca nedenini anlayabiliyorum. Egzersiz yaptığımda daha fazla enerji alıyorum bu yüzden ilk yaptığım pratiğe kıyasla çok fazla yorgun olmuyorum.

İstediğim kiloya ulaşınca bir sürü et ve tatlı yiyecekler yiyebileceğim. Eti seviyorum, online bir müzik sitesinde birinci olduğumda koçtan et yemek için izin aldım. Bir sürü et yedim ve bazı hayranlar hemen fotoğraf çekti. Hala genç olduğumdan ete karşı koyamadığım zamanlar oluyor, fakat şu an mutlu bir şekilde diyet yapıyorum!



“Hoşçakalın!”

Hikayemi dinleyen herkese çok teşekkür ederim. Bunun karşılığını yeni albümümle vereceğim. Günün birinde kendi bestemi yapacağım ve şarkı sözleri yazacağım...Şimdi bile kendi bestelediğim çalışmalarım var ama henüz insanların dinleyebileceği düzeyde değil. Recently, Lee Hi has been cooping herself in the recording studio to practice her dance and for recording. However she has taken out time to write about her trainee days in YG for her fans. Blood type B, when she was in Grade 1, her dream was to be the class chairperson. For now, rather than wanting to attend University, her dream is to become a more perfect singer. Today will be Lee Hi’s last article in Naver Star Column so I am feeling a little sad. Compared to the past, the route for future kpop people is even longer and I hope they will also receive a rousing applause.

I like Big Bang’s TOP, Chris Brown, Johnny Depp

I am a person who likes doing things yet not the type who does things best to 100%. When I receive a task, I will try my best and do it well. However, if I don’t like what I’m doing, I will not do it all. That is why the adults all say I’m a stubborn person ^^. I like artists like TOP, Chris Brown and actors like Johnny Depp. The common point for these three artists are that they are all mature. Johnny Depp ahjussi has a sexy charm that is due to his age but he doesn’t let others feel he’s young which is why I like the three of them too.

After debut, the person I admire has changed. Now, I feel that Yang Hyun Suk sajangnim has the most charm. He has a different charm from others! He has the same mid-age charm like Johnny Depp but he feels more like a dad!

Before debut and after debut has been the same. YG will still teach me how to dance and correct my mistakes. To be honest, I do not have a lot of good points but YG will still teach and correct me frequently in order to make me a more perfect singer. So I would like to say this to my boss: “Thank you”. YG will not come and see my progress when I am singing but he will come when I am practicing how to dance. This has helped me a lot. He comes to the recording studio frequently too and he will correct my emotions that my voice portrays. Other sunbaes says that YG is scary and strict but I feel that he is more like my dad. YG does lecture me but I do not really understand if it is a lecture.



First MV and first TV programme, I will work hard!

When I was filming for “1,2,3,4”, it was really tough for the first three days as I had no time to sleep as well and I still had to wear high heels thus I started to cry.. As I had thick make-up on, the feeling was weird. I wanted to portray the original ME to everyone, but the make-up was so thick I think it would be awkward..

When sunbaes see the MV that they have filmed, they would say “Ah, I should have worked harder to film this part better” but for me, I just felt like giving up. But after filming, I did regret not doing better. It was my first time filming an MV, there are still many weak points but I hope that everyone will look at it as a charm..

Thus, before my first stage, I was practicing crazily. Because YG said that it’s my first debut stage, I have to practice well as a stage and MV are two different things. After exercising, I was practicing from 4PM to 3/4AM. As there was a change in the dance steps, I was working even harder.. It was dancing, portraying my emotions and singing all at the same time.. Sunbaes are really really good.. No matter how tired they are they will not say it out. Now, I do understand their feelings..



Suddenly deaf. I thought I could not sing anymore so I was sad for a long time

From the filming of MV till my first debut stage, I was not staying at home but in a dormitory near the company. When I practice till 3 or 4AM, I will sleep till 11am, once I wake up, I will head to the gym and record for my new songs in YG building.

The dormitory is much better than my house.. My mom said: “Are you sleeping alone in such a huge apartment?” Practice room is also good, there’s a computer, stereo system, piano and wireless microphone. Although I am the only one using the dormitory, but the facilities are different from others.

My body is tired, I want to eat but I can’t so I cried again. I want to be pretty for my stages so I go to the gym to exercise again. But exercising is really tough. There was once when I could not hear in my ear suddenly, when I was in the hospital, the doctor said its sudden deaf. As I always exercise without eating, I fell sick.

When I was singing halfway, one of my ear was suddenly deaf again. I thought I would be unable to sing anymore so I was very sad.. But of course it was fine after treating my sickness in the hospital.

I now only do three different exercises in the gym. I can’t reveal my weight but I have lost 6kg in total.



I wish to eat meat without any worries

I eat breakfast at 10am, I eat lunch three hours later. Another 3 hours later I eat my dinner. Everyday, I only eat from the menu that the coach and nutritionist ahjumma has came up with. If I feel hungry in the middle of the day, I will eat half a sweet potato and three cherry tomatoes.

The first time when I had to control my weight, I don’t know why I had to live like that. But after looking at my performances, I know why. When I am exercising, I will have stronger energy so I will not be that tired compared to the first time I was practicing.

After I’ve reached the weight that I want to, I will be able to eat a lot of meat and sweet food. I LOVE meat, when I received #1 in a music website online, I received the coach’s permission to eat meat. I ate a lot of meat and I was also snapped photos by some fans. As I am still young, there are times where I could not resist eating meat anymore, but I am currently dieting happily!

INFINITE H, Asia Today ile Röportaj Yapmaya Koyuldu



INFINITE H, çeşitli online müzik listelerindeki yüksek sıralamalarıyla bir alt grup olarak hip-hop yeteneklerini ve başarılarını sergiledi.

Dongwoo ve Howa, INFINITE H promosyonları ve programlarının yanı sıra INFINITE aktivitelerinde de yer aldıkları için oldukça yoğun. Ancak, “Bir gün hip-hop tarzında bir müzik yapalım," diye çıkışlarından beri söylenen ikili, öldürücü programlarına rağmen hayallerini gerçekleştirdikleri için çok mutlu görünüyor.

“İkimiz de en başından beri hip-hop tarzını seviyorduk ve şarkıcı olma hayalini başlatan da bu olmuştu. İkimiz daima iyi geçiniyor ve beraber dans ediyorduk. INFINITE H için gelen tepkilerin bu denli harika olacağını gerçekten beklemiyorduk. Albümdeki diğer şarkıların da iyi olması nedeniyle insanların dinlediğine inanıyoruz. Bazı INFINITE üyeleri, bir kaç şarkıya olan düet ilgilerinden bahsetti. Fakat bu 'alt grup' olmanın gerçek anlamını kaybettirirdi bu yüzden onları geri çevirmek zorunda kaldık (güler).”



INFINITE H’in mini albümü ‘Fly High‘ kanatları ve uçma özgürlüğünü temsil ediyor. Çıkış parçası “Special Girl,” R&B şarkıcısı Bumkey'in yumuşak vokallerinin yanı sıra üyelerin melodik raplerini barındırıyor.

“Şarkı, sevdiği kişiye duygularını itiraf etmeyen ve yalnızca hayal eden bir adamı konu ediniyor. Aramızda bazı benzerlikler olduğunu düşünüyorum (güler). Belki de INFINITE’in imajı yüzünden bir çok kişi güçlü bir tekli ile geri döneceğimizi düşündü, fakat ‘Special Girl’ gibi tatlı bir şarkı ile herkesi şaşırtmak istedik. İlişkilendirilebilir sözler ve kolay melodi, şarkının güçlü noktaları.”

Bir kıza aşık iki üyeyi konu edinen klip, hayranlardan büyük ilgi gördü. Hoya, tvN'de yayınlanan ‘Reply 1997‘ dizisinde çoktan oyunculuk yeteneğini gösterirken, bu Dongwoo için ilkti fakat o “Bu fırsattan sonra bana uyan bir bölüm olursa oyunculuğu denemeyi düşünüyordum,” şeklinde belirtti.

“Çarpıcı çekim, klibe yeni bir dönüşüm katıyor. Video çekerek yeni bir rekor kırdık. Normalde dört gün sürmesi gerekiyordu fakat zamanımız yoktu bu yüzden sadece bir günde tamamladık. Sabah dokuzda başlayıp ertesi gün akşam dörtte bitirdik. 30 saat çalışmak gerçekten yorucuydu fakat çok da eğlenceliydi (güler).”

Bir hip-hop hayranı olarak, insanların hip-hop deneyen idolleri eleştirmeleri kolay olduğu için bu tarza çalışırken üyeler oldukça baskı altında hissetti.

Ancak Primary, Dynamic Duo ve DJ Wagon gibi hip-hop ustaları ile birlikte çalışmak, INFINITE H’in albümünün çok daha başarılı olmasını sağladı.



“Albüm çalışmalarına başlamdan önce hip-hop seven kişilerin albümden memnun olmayacağından endişeliydik, fakat çalışmaya başladıktan sonra tüm endişelerimiz yok oluverdi. Harika hip-hop ustalarıyla çalışmak şüphelerimizi yok etti. Dynamic Duo, stüdyoda kayıt yaparken bir idol olarak bizden bile fazla enerjiye sahiptiler. Sözleri hemen orada yazıyorlar ve hatta bizden de kayıt stüdyosunda herhangi bir şey söylemeyi denememizi istediler. Bunlardan bazıları albüme eklendi... Gerçekten eğlenceliydi.”

INFINITE olarak mı ya da INFINITE H olarak mı promosyon yapmayı seviyorsunuz diye sorduğumuzda ikisi de bir süre duraksadı ve “Buna karar veremeyiz,” şeklinde belirttiler.

“Bunun nedeni her iki grubun albenisinin tamamen farklı olması. INFINITE H, daha çok geniş ve saf bir yön sergilerden INFINITE ise senkronize edilmiş dans hareketleri ile karizmatik görünüyor. ‘Special Girl’, performanslarında ne kadar çok jest ve hareket olduğunu farkettim. Hiçbir zaman bir gün sahnede ‘aegyo’ yapacağımı düşünmemiştim (güler). Bizi izleyen insanları gülümsetebilen bir alt grup olmak istiyoruz.”

INFINITE H has successfully showcased their hip-hop abilities and success as a unit group with their high rankings on various online charts.

While the seven members are usually known for their extremely well-synchronized dance moves, INFINITE H displays a more carefree and comfortable charm. They recently sat down to conduct a fun interview with Asia Today.

Dongwoo and Hoya have been quite busy as they’re working on both activities for INFINITE as well as their own promotions and schedule for INFINITE H. However, the duo who’ve always stated ever since their debut that “one day, let’s do hip-hop music“, seem very happy with fulfilling that dream, despite the killer schedule.

“Both of us liked hip-hop from the very start, that’s what sparked the dream of becoming singers. The two of us have always gotten along well and we’ve always danced together. We really didn’t expect for the reaction to INFINITE H to be so great. We believe that it’s because the other songs on the album are also good and that’s the reason why many people have listened. Some of the INFINITE members expressed their interest in being featured in some of the songs. But that takes away the true meaning of being a ‘unit’ so we had to turn them down (laughing).”



INFINITE H’s mini album ‘Fly High‘ represents wings, and the freedom of flying. The title single “Special Girl” features the melodic rapping of the members, as well as the smooth vocals of R&B artist Bumkey.

“The song is about a guy who hasn’t confessed his feelings to the one he likes and is just imagining it. I think there are some similarities with us (laughing). Maybe it’s because of INFINITE’s image that many people thought that we’d come back with a strong single, but we wanted to surprise everyone with a sweet song like ‘Special Girl’. The relatable lyrics and easy melody are the song’s strong points.”

The music video, which features the two members in love with a girl, attracted much attention from their fans. While Hoya has already shown some of his acting abilities in tvN‘s ‘Reply 1997‘, it was Dongwoo’s first time acting, but he stated, “After this opportunity, I’ve even had thoughts of trying my hand in acting, if I can find a part that fits me.”

“The dramatic filming adds a new twist to the music video. We set a new record with the filming of the video. It was supposed to take four days to film, but we didn’t have enough time, so we ended up completing the filming in just one day. We started at 9 AM and ended at 4 PM the next day. It was really tiring, working for 30 hours straight, but it was a lot of fun (laughing).”

As lovers of hip-hop, the members also felt much pressure from trying the genre, especially since it’s easy for people to shoot down idol dance singers who try out hip-hop.

However, with hip-hop veterans including Primary, Dynamic Duo, and DJ Wagon working alongside them, INFINITE H’s album was able to be even more successful.



“Before we started working on the album, we were really worried that hip-hop fans would not appreciate the album, but after we began, all of our worries vanished. Working with our amazing hip-hop sunbaenims helped throw away our doubts. Dynamic Duo had even more energy than we, as idols, do in the recording studio. They write lyrics on the spot, and they even told us to try saying anything in the recording studio. Some of those things even went into the album… It was truly a lot of fun.”

When asked whether they like promoting as INFINITE or INFINITE H better, both Dongwoo and Hoya paused for a long time and ended up stating, “We can’t even decide.”

“It’s because the charms of the two groups are completely different, which is what we like. INFINITE is charismatic with their synchronized dance moves, while INFINITE H is a more carefree and unadulterated side to us. When we were performing ‘Special Girl’, I realized how many possible gestures and moves there are. I never thought the day that we do ‘aegyo’ on stage would come (laughing). We want to become a unit that brings a smile to the faces of people who watch us.”
