Konusu

1800'de, Seoul'un kenar mahallelerinde bir yerde bir kasaplar köyü vardı. Synopsis

In 1800, there was a butchers' village somewhere on the outskirts of Seoul. Mansuk lived in this village as a butcher, but in fact his main job was to behead people who were sentenced to capital punishment. Whenever political turmoil or revolutions occurred, he became busy as he had to cut off many heads. One day, a servant of a rich and high-ranking officer visited Mansuk and asked him " Please do not cut my master's neck violently, but smoothly and silently without spilling much blood." Mansuk agreed, and the servant gave him money. The servant was accompanied by a beautiful girl who was the daughter of the rich man who was to be executed on the next day. Mansuk fell in love with the girl and raped her very violently that night. Mansuk hated the rich and upper-class people of that time. Nevertheless, on the next day, at the execution place Mansuk kept his promise to execute the rich man gently. After the death of the father of the girl (Sookyoung) she and her mother were sold to another rich man as slaves. Mansuk heard of this sad story. He tried to find Sookyoung by all means possible. Mansuk finally found Sookyoung after severe hardships and they lived together very happily, but their happiness was very short-lived. Another political revolution occurred. Mansuk was entangled in the turmoil of the revolution. Finally, Mansuk and his wife Sookyoung were killed at the riverside, leaving their beautiful son behind them.
