Tarih

Geochang'ın Kökeni
Geçmişten beri, Geochang canlı ortamları, geniş alanları ve geniş ovaları nedeniyle geniş, büyük ve parlak bir yer anlamına gelen ‘Geoyeol, Geota, Arim’ olarak anılmıştır. Silla döneminde (757) Kral Gyeongdeok'un 16. yılında ilk kez ‘Geochang’ olarak anılmaya başlandı fakat birleşme ve diğer komşu alanlardan ayrılma işlemi sırasında birçok başka isimle adlandırıldı ve nihayet kendi yerine oturmuş oldu.

Gaya Dönemi
Tarih öncesi çağdan beri, Geochang erkenden düzenini kurmuş ve Gaya Döneminin başlarında ‘Jataguk, Geota’ olarak anılmıştır, ve Büyük Gaya Birliği Derneği'nin bir parça olmuştur. Silla döneminin başında Geota ve Geoyeol adı verildi ve Kral Gyeongdeok'un 16. yılında (757), Geochang-gun adını aldı ve ardından Eumyre ve Namnae'ye Hameumhyeon ve Yeoseonhyeon isimleri verildi, onlar da Geochang-gun'a dahil edildi.

Goryeo Dönemi
Goryeo Döneminde (940) Kral Taejo'nun 23. yılında, Yeoseonhyeon, 'Gameumhyeon' olarak yeniden adlandırıldı ve Gameumhyeon 'Gajohyeon' olarak yeniden adlandırıldı. Joseon Dönemi
Joseon Hanedanlığı Kralı Taejong'un hükümdarlığının 14. yılında (1414), Gaso eyaletine aktarılmış olan Geojae ve Geochang birleşmiş ve buraya ‘Jaechanghyeon’ adı verilmiştir. Kral Yeonsan'ın ilk dönemlerinde (1296), Kral Yeonsan'ın eşinin doğum yeri olarak Geochang-gun statüsüne yükseltilmiştir ama Kraliçe Dangyeong'un Kral Jungjong'u tahttan indirmesinden sonra Geochanghyeon olarak statüsü düşürülmüştür. Ancak Youngjo'nun 15. yılında, Kraliçe Dangyeong'un restorasyonun bir sonucu olarak Geochangbu olarak yeniden statüsü yükseltilmiştir(1739). Kral Gojong'un 32. yılında (1895), Geochan-gu, Geochang-gun olarak yeniden adlandırıldı ve 1914 yılında, Aneui-gun, Marie, Wicheon, Buksang, Samga-gun ve Sinwon-myeon Geochang-gu'ya verildi.

Modern Zaman
1937 yılında, Geochang-myeon Geochang-eup'luğa terfi etti ve 1957 yılında, Weolcheon-myeon, Geochang-eup'a dahil edildi ve 1972 yılında, Hamyang-gun, Aneui-myeon, Jinmok-ri, Chunjeon-ri, Namsang-myeon'a dahil edildi. Şimdi, Geochang-eup, Jusang, Ungyang, Goje, Buksang, Wicheon, Marie, Namsang, Namha, Shinwon, Gajo ve Gabuk-myeon gibi bir eup ve 11 myeon'dan oluşur.

History

Origin of Geochang
From the past, Geochang was called ‘Geoyeol, Geota, Arim’, which means a wide, large and bright field because of the bright places and the large fields and large plains. It was called ‘Geochang’ for the first time in the 16th year of the King Gyeongdeok in Silla (757 AD), but it was called by many other names during the process of merging and dividing with other neighboring areas, and finally its name has settled.

Gaya Period
Since the pre-historical age, Geochang has settled early and it was called ‘Jataguk, Geota’ in the early Gaya period, and it was one of the Great Gaya Union Association. It was called Geota and Geoyeol in the early of Silla period, and in the 16th year of King, Gyeongdeok (757 AD), it was named Geochang-gun and after Eumyre and Namnae changed their name into Hameumhyeon and Yeoseonhyeon, they were incorporated into Geochang-gun.

Goryeo Period
In the 23rd year of Taejo (940 AD) in Goryeo, Yeoseonhyeon was renamed the ‘Gameumhyeon’, and Gameumhyeon was renamed the ‘Gajohyeon’. In the 9th year of King Hyeonjong (1918 AD), Hapcheon raised its status to Hapju, and 12 areas including Geochang, Gaso, Gameum, Samga, Ian, were annexed to Hapju.

Joseon Period
In the 14th year of the reign of King Taejong (1414 AD) of the Joseon Dynasty, Geojae and Geochang, which had been transferred to Gaso province was incorporated, and it was named the ‘Jaechanghyeon’. In the early period of King Yeonsan (1296 AD), as a birthplace of the wife of King Yeonsan, it was promoted to Geochang-gun, but it was demoted to Geochanghyeon after Queen Dangyeong was dethroned in the early of King Jungjong (1506 AD). But, it was re-promoted to Geochangbu as a result of restoration of Queen Dangyeong in the 15th year of Youngjo (1739 AD). In the 32nd year of King Gojong (1895 AD), Geochan-gu was renamed as Geochang-gun, and in 1914, Aneui-gun, Marie, Wicheon, Buksang, Samga-gun, and Sinwon-myeon were annexed into Geochang-gun.

Modern Time
In 1937, Geochang-myeon was promoted to Geochang-eup, and in 1957, Weolcheon-myeon was annexed into Geochang-eup, and in 1972, Hamyang-gun, Aneui-myeon, Jinmok-ri, Chunjeon-ri, were incorporated into Namsang-myeon. Now, it is comprised to one eup (County) and 11 myeon (Administrative Districts) such as Geochang-eup, Jusang, Ungyang, Goje, Buksang, Wicheon, Marie, Namsang, Namha, Shinwon, Gajo, and Gabuk-myeon.
