New school seeks to embrace multiracial children


Yeni okul farkli etnik kökenli çocuklari kabul etmeye hazir


Her sinifta 15 ögrenci, okul ücreti yok, farkli dil seçenegi sunan dersler – hangi anne-baba böyle okulu hayal etmez. Seoul’de, Kore’nin genelinden farkli hayat hikayesi olan ögrencilerle, onlarin anne-babalari için sira disi bir okul açildi ve bu hayaller gerçege dönüstü.

Seoul’deki Global SARANG (‘Sarang’ kore dilinde ‘sevgi’ anlamina geliyor) okulu farkli etnik kökenli çocuklar için Kore’deki ilk özel okul olarak 2 Mart’ta kapisini açti. Ögrencilerin çogunun babasi Koreli ve anneleri Gana, Çin, Hindistan, Vietnam, Filipinler gibi yabanci ülkelerden gelenler.

Only 15 students per grade, no tuition fees and classes taught in multiple languages -- it sounds like a school parents can only dream of. That dream has become reality in Seoul with the opening of an extraordinary school for students and parents whose life stories differ from Korea's homogenous norm.

The School of Global SARANG in Seoul, sarang meaning "love" in Korean," opened March 2 as Korea's first private school for multi-ethnic elementary school children. Students typically have a Korean father and a foreign-born mother, hailing from such countries as Ghana, China, India, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Güney Kore Mexico’da Ilk Kültür Merkezin Açti

Güney Kore Sali günü Mexico’da ilk Kore Kültür Merkezi'ni açarak farkli ülkeler arasinda dostluk köprüsü olacagini ümit ediyor.

Kültür, Spor ve Turizm Bakanliginin haberine göre kültür merkezi Mexico City’nin merkezinde üç katli binada yer alip kütüphane, sergi salonu, Kore Dili ile Kore geleneksel müzigini ögrenmek için siniflar, film odasi ve çok amaçli hol gibi bütün imkanlara sahip.

South Korea opened its first Korean Cultural Center in Mexico Tuesday, hoping it will serve as a bridge between the two different cultures.

The three-story building located in the center of Mexico City features a library, two exhibition halls, rooms for learning Korean language and traditional Korean music, an audiovisual room and a multipurpose hall, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Int'l University Branches Opening in South Korea

Güney Kore'de Uluslararasi Üniversite Subeleri Açiliyor

Geçen yil onay alan New York Eyalet Üniversitesi de dahil uluslararasi seçkin üniversiteler, Güney Kore'de kampüsler kuruyor.

Bu ay açilan SUNY (New York Eyalet Üniversitesi) kampüsünde, alti tam burslu ögrenciler de dahil olmak üzere yüksek lisans ve doktora derslerinde kayitli 100 ögrenci var.

Belçika Ghent Üniversitesi 2013 Eylül ayinda kapilarini açacakken, George Mason Üniversitesi önümüzdeki Mart ayinda Güney Kore'deki Songdo'da bir program baslatacak.

Su anda Utah Üniversitesi ve Moskova Devlet Üniversitesi de dahil diger alti üniversite, Güney Kore'de kendi kampüslerini açmak için görüsmeler düzenliyor.

Egitim, Bilim ve Teknoloji Bakanligi da, 1,000 ögrenci kapasiteli bir lisans kampüsü açmak için George Mason Üniversitesi ile görüsmekte olduklarini söyledi.

Prominent international universities are establishing campuses in South Korea, including one by the State University of New York which received approval last year.

The SUNY campus, which opened its doors this month, now has 100 students enrolled in its master’s and doctorate courses, including six full-scholarship students.

George Mason University will also begin a program in Songdo, South Korea next March while Ghent University of Belgium will open its doors in September, 2013.

Currently six other universities, including the University of Utah and Moscow State University, are holding discussions to open their campuses in South Korea.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has also said it is in discussions with George Mason University to open an undergraduate campus with a student body of 1,000.

1,400 Pass First Law School Bar Exam in S. Korea

Güney Kore’de Hukuk Fakültesi Mezunlari Için Ilk Yapilan Avukatlik Sinavda 1400 Kisi Kazandi

Güney Kore Adalet Bakanligi hukuk fakültesi mezunlari için yapilan avukatlik sinavina katilan 1665 kisinin 87.15%’inin avukat olarak atandigini açikladi.

Sinavi kazanan 1451 ögrenciden yaklasik 38%’i hukuk fakültesine girmeden önce hukuk okuyanlardan olusuyor. Bakanligin sinavina katilanlarin 41%’i kadin. Bu sonuç geçen yilin 37%’sinden biraz daha çok.

Güney Kore'de bu yil sinavi yeniden kazanan ögrencilerle Hukuk Egitim ve Arastirma Enstitüsü'nden mezun olup, devletin avukatlik sinavini kazananlar dahil iki binden fazla yeni avukat var.

The Ministry of Justice says 87-point-15 percent of the one-thousand-665 applicants for the first bar exam for law school students in South Korea qualified to practice law.

Roughly 38 percent of the one-thousand-451 students who passed previously studied law before entering law school. The ministry said 41 percent of the test takers were female, slightly higher than the 37 percent who qualified for the state law examination last year.

South Korea has over two-thousand new lawyers this year including the law students that just passed the bar and others that passed the state bar examination and graduated from the Judicial Research and Training Institute.

Korea National University Of Arts Seals Ties With Russian, Chinese Art Schools

Kore Ulusal Sanat Üniversitesi, Rusya ve Çin'den Sanat Okullariyla Baglantilar Olusturdu

Devlet yönetimindeki Kore Ulusal Sanat Üniversitesi (KUSÜ) persembe günü, Rusya'nin Çaykovski Konservatuariyla degisim ve isbirligi üzerine anlastigini açikladi.

KUSÜ, Baskan Park Chong-won'un 18-24 Mart arasinda bu ülkelere yaptigi ziyaretler sirasinda Rusya ve Çin'de bulunan diger sanat okullariyla da benzer anlasmalar imzaladigini bildirdi.

Korea National University of Arts (KNUA) has concluded an exchange and cooperation agreement with Russia's Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the state-run school said Thursday.

KNUA said its president, Park Chong-won, also signed similar agreements with other Russian and Chinese art schools during his visit to the countries from March 18 to 24.

Lee Vows to Expand Financial Support to Young People

Lee Gençlerin Finansal Destegini Genisletecegine Dair Söz Verdi

Güney Kore Devlet Baskani Lee Myung-bak gençleri finansal destekleme programini genisletecegine dair söz verdi.

Iki haftada bir yayinlanan radyo konusmasinda Lee, mevcut olan egitim kredileri düsük faizli krediye dönüsecegini ve hükümetin nisandan itibaren egitim kredileriyle acil yasam giderlerin desteklemek amaciyla bankalardan 50 trilyon won bagis alacagini söyledi.

Devlet baskani bazi insanlar mikro kredi alicilarinin borçlarin ileri zamanlarda geri ödemek zorunda olduklarini kaygi ediyorlar dedi. Her neyse, çogu insanlar borçlarin kapatmak için çok çalismak zorunda, onlarin bazilari da borçtan kurtulduktan sonra da bagista bulunuyorlar diye açikladi.

Lee Güney Kore’nin mikro kredi sistemi orta sinif insanlarinin kendini yetistirmesine yardim ettigi dünyada benzeri olmayan kredilendirme sistemidir dedi. Bu sistemin kök salmasi ve düzgün uygulanmasi gerektiginin altini çizdi.

President Lee Myung-bak has promised to expand financial support to young people so they can make it on their own.

In his biweekly radio address on Monday, Lee said the plan is to convert existing school loans into lower-interest ones. He also said that from April the government will use a 50 billion won donation from banks to provide aid for school loans and emergency living expenses.

The president said some people worry that aid recipients of micro financing are unlikely to pay the money back. However, he explained most people work hard to pay off the debt and some even donate after paying off the loan.

Lee said Korea's micro financing system is about more than providing loans, and it is unprecedented in the world as it assists working class people in their self-reliance. He stressed the system should take root and be better implemented.

Education Superintendent to be Sentenced in Appeals Court

Egitim Müfettisi Temyiz Mahkemesinde Hüküm Giyecek

Bir temyiz mahkemesi, müfettis seçimleri sirasinda rüsvet vermekle suçlanan Seoul Egitim Müfettisi Kwak No-hyun'a hüküm verecek.

Kwak, ilk mahkemesinde 30 milyon won para cezasi aldi fakat kefalet sonrasinda isine geri döndü.

4 Nisan'da bir ön ceza sirasinda, bir temyiz mahkemesi Kwak'i dört yil hapis cezasina çarptirdi.

Temyiz mahkemesi baska bir hapis cezasi verirse, Kwak'in makami askiya alinacak fakat para cezasi veya daha hafif ceza egitim müfettisi olarak göreve devam etmesini saglayacak.

Kwak, 2010 Seoul egitim müfettisi seçimleri için rakibine 200 milyon won vermekle suçlaniyor.

An appeals court will hand down a sentence to Seoul education superintendent Kwak No-hyun, who has been accused of bribery during the elections for the superintendent position.

Kwak had been handed a fine of 30 million won during his first trial but he returned to office after bail.

During a preliminary sentencing on April fourth, an appeals court sentenced Kwak to four years in prison.

If the appeals court gives Kwak another prison sentence, Kwak will be suspended from his office, but a fine or less will let him continue his work as education superintendent.

Kwak was accused of handing 200 million won to his rival in the two-thousand-ten election for the Seoul education superintendent post.

Günün ilerleyen saatlerinde, 2010 müfettislik seçimine aday olan rakibine seçimi birakmasi karsiliginda 200 milyon won (US $ 175,640) vermekten bir yil hapis cezasi verdi. Mahkemenin karari, 19 Ocak'ta Kwak No-hyun'u 30 milyon won para cezasina çarptiran ve 3 ay görevinden alinan savciyi serbest birakan alt mahkemenin kararinin tam tersi olarak görünüyor.
