Speaker Stresses Assembly's and Govt's Roles for Hydrogen Economy

Meclis Başkanı Meclisin ve Hükümetin Hidrojen Ekonomisindeki Rollerini Vurguluyor

Ulusal Meclis Başkanı Moon Hee-sang, parlamentoda hükümetin hidrojen ekonomisi girişimi için kurumsal ve yasal destek sağlama ihtiyacını ele aldı.

Moon, salı günü Seoul'deki parlamento binasında kurulan bir hidrojen şarj istasyonu için yapılan törenle ilgili açıklama yaptı.

Yetkili, Hyundai Motor'un yakıt hücresi araçları alanında dünyanın önde gelen teknolojisine sahip olmasına rağmen, şirketin ilgili altyapıyı inşa etmek için hükümet de dahil olmak üzere destek olmadan küresel pazarda rekabet etmekte zorluklarla karşılaşacağını söyledi.

Başbakan Lee Nak-yon ayrıca milletvekillerinden yardım istedi.

Sektördeki özel yatırımların önemini vurgulayan Lee, şu anda beklemede olan sekiz ilgili bono da dahil olmak üzere, hidrojen ekonomisini harekete geçirme konusunda iki taraflı çaba gösterilmesi çağrısında bulundu.

Başbakan, hidrojen ekonomisinin aynı zamanda ulus için başka bir büyüme motoru yaratırken enerji ve çevre ile ilgili sorunların çözülmesine yardımcı olacağını söyledi.

National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang has addressed the need for the parliament to provide institutional and legislative support for the government’s hydrogen economy initiative.

Moon made the remark during the completion ceremony for a hydrogen charging station set up at the parliament house in Seoul on Tuesday.

He said although Hyundai Motor has the world’s leading technology in the field of fuel cell vehicles, the company will face challenges in competing in the global market without support, including from the government, to build related infrastructure.

Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon also sought assistance from lawmakers.

Stressing the importance of private investment in the sector, Lee called for bipartisan efforts to help activate the hydrogen economy, including passing eight related bills currently pending.

The prime minister said the hydrogen economy will also help solve energy- and environment-related problems while creating another growth engine for the nation.

S. Korea's Private Consumption Growth Likely to Hit 6-Year Low This Year

Güney Kore'nin Özel Tüketimindeki Büyüme Bu Yıl Son 6 Yılın En Düşük Seviyesini Gördü

Güney Kore’nin özel tüketimindeki büyümenin 2019’da altı yılın en düşük seviyesine ulaşması beklenmektedir.

Kore Bankası (BOK) ’nın pazar günü yaptığı açıklamaya göre, ülkenin özel tüketiminin 2019 yılında yıllık yüzde 1,9 artacağı tahmin ediliyor.

Yüzde 1,7’de durduğunda 2013'ten bu yana en yavaş büyümeyi işaret etti.

Geçen yılki özel tüketimin yıllık yüzde 2,8 arttığı göz önüne alındığında, ülkenin bu yıl özel tüketim artışında yüzde 0,7’lik öngörülen daralma oranından daha büyük olan yüzde 0,9’luk bir daralma görmesi bekleniyor.

Durgun ihracat ve yatırımlarla birlikte Kore Bankası, geçen hafta, bu yılki büyüme tahminini geçen yılın %2,7’lik büyümesinden 0,7 daha düşük olan yüzde ikiye düşürdü.

The growth of South Korea's private consumption is expected to hit a six-year low in 2019, as economic growth slowed amid decreased exports and investments.

According to the Bank of Korea (BOK) on Sunday, the country's private consumption is projected to grow one-point-nine percent on-year in 2019.

It would mark the slowest growth since 2013, when it stood at one-point-seven percent.

Given that last year's private consumption increased two-point-eight percent on-year, the country is expected to see a contraction of point-nine percentage points in the growth of private consumption this year, which is larger than a projected contraction of point-seven percentage points in the country's economic growth for this year.

With sluggish exports and investments, the BOK slashed its growth forecast last week for this year to two percent, point-seven percentage points lower than last year's growth of two-point-seven percent.

President Moon Jae-in has made clear that efforts on the economic front cannot be neglected even as the country carries out emergency quarantine efforts amid a surge in coronavirus infections.

His remark apparently expresses his resolve to minimize the economic impact of COVID-19.

During a visit to a department store in Seoul's Yangcheon District on Friday, the president met with business sector officials and pledged to seek all necessary measures to revitalize the sluggish economy.

Domestic demand in areas such as small-scale business, tourism, accommodations, performance and arts continue to take hits amid fallout from the virus outbreak while consumers tighten their purse strings.

The spread of COVID-19 is taking a toll on all companies across the board, but small-scale firms and business owners in particular are bearing the brunt with many contemplating calling it quits and shutting down.

KOSPI Plunges 3.3% over Virus Concerns

KOSPI, Virüs Endişeleri Yüzünden % 3,3 Düştü

Kore Kompozit Hisse Senedi Fiyatları Endeksi (KOSPI) kıstası, yeni koronavirüsün ülkedeki hızlı yayılımının ortasında cuma günü %3,30 düşerek 67,88 puan geriledi.

Bireyler ve kurumlar net toplam 582 milyar won hisse satın almasına rağmen, yabancılar net 628,5 milyar won değerindeki hisseleri düşürdükçe; KOSPI 1987,01'e geriledi.

Teknoloji ağırlıklı KOSDAQ, 27,44 puan (%4.30) düşerek 610,73 puan ile kapadı.

Dövizde, yerel para birimi dolar karşısında kazanılan 3,5 won zayıfladı ve oturumu 1213,7 won ile kapattı.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) plunged 67-point-88 points, or three-point-30 percent, on Friday amid the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

The KOSPI slipped to one-thousand-987-point-01 as foreigners dumped a net 628-point-five billion won worth of shares, although individuals and institutions net bought a combined 582 billion won.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also plummeted 27-point-44 points, or four point-30 percent, to close at 610-point-73.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency weakened three-point-five won against the dollar, ending the session at one-thousand-213-point-seven won.

Hyundai Motor Halts Ulsan Plant After Worker Diagnosed with COVID-19

Hyundai Motor, İşçisine COVID-19 Teşhisi Konulmasından Sonra Ulsan Fabrikasını Durdurdu

Hyundai Motor'un 2 Nolu Ulsan fabrikasında bir işçiye, cuma sabahı yeni koronavirüs teşhisi kondu ve acilen dört bin çalışanı olan tesisin askıya alınmasına sebep oldu.

Şirket derhal acil karantina önlemleri aldığını ve test edilebilmeleri için hasta ile yakın temasta olabilecek diğer çalışanları belirlemeye çalıştıklarını söyledi.

Aynı Ulsan fabrikası, diğer Hyundai fabrikaları ile, bundan öncesinde de bu ayın başlarında salgından etkilenen Çinli ortak firmaların askıya alınması sırasında otomobil parçaları sıkıntısı nedeniyle  operasyonları durdurmuştu.

En son kapanma, doğrudan bir enfeksiyonla ilgili olduğu için çok daha ciddi bir durumdur.

İşçiler otomobil montaj hatlarındaki konveyör bantları boyunca duruyorlar ve bu sebeple virüsün fabrikada ne kadar yayıldığını tahmin etmek zor görünüyor.

Ulsan geçtiğimiz Cumartesi ilk COVID-19 vakasını bildirdi ve kentin üç önde gelen otomobil, gemi yapımı ve petrokimya sektörü üzerinde etkili olabileceğinden korkuldu.

Bu yüzden, işyerleri katı karantina önlemleri oluşturuyor.

One worker at Hyundai Motor's No. 2 Ulsan plant was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus Friday morning, immediately prompting a suspension of the plant that employs four thousand employees.

The company said it carried out emergency quarantine measures right away and is trying to identify other workers who may have come into close contact with the patient so they can also be tested.

The same Ulsan plant, along with other Hyundai plants, previously halted operations earlier this month due to a shortage of auto parts amid the suspension of Chinese partner firms affected by the outbreak.

The latest shutdown is a more serious situation as it relates to a direct infection.

Workers stand along conveyor belts in automobile assembly lines, and it's difficult to predict how far the virus may have spread within the factory.

Ulsan reported its first COVID-19 case last Saturday and it was feared it may have an effect on the city's three leading sectors of autos, shipbuilding and petrochemicals.

Accordingly, workplaces have been setting up stringent quarantine measures.

S. Korea's Exports Rise 4.5% in February

G. Kore'nin ihracatı Şubat ayında % 4,5 arttı

Güney Kore'nin ihracatı, 15 ayda ilk kez şubat ayında, yeni korona virüsün patlak vermesinin ortasında büyüme kaydetti.

Ticaret, Sanayi ve Enerji Bakanlığı'nın pazar günkü verilerine göre, ülkenin sevkiyatları geçtiğimiz ay bir önceki yıla göre yüzde 4,5 artarak 41,2 milyar dolar oldu.

Rakam, Aralık 2018'den bu yana 14 ay art arda düştükten sonra ilk büyümeyi işaret etti.

İhracat hacmi de 13 ayın en büyük büyümesine işaret ederek geçen ay yüzde 7,3’lük bir artış kaydetti.

İthalat şubat ayında bir önceki yılın aynı dönemine kıyasla yüzde 1,4 artarak 37, 1 milyar dolara yükseldi.

Ülkenin ticaret fazlası ihracatın ithalatı aştığı 97 ardışık ayı hesaba katarak şubat ayında 4,1 milyar oldu.

South Korea's exports posted growth for the first time in 15 months in February amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

According to the data by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Sunday, the country's outbound shipments came to 41-point-two billion dollars last month, up four-point-five percent from a year earlier.

The figure marked the first growth after falling for 14 consecutive months since December 2018.

The export volume also marked the largest growth in 13 months, posting an increase of seven-point-three percent last month.

Imports rose one-point-four percent on-year in February to 37-point-one billion dollars.

The country's trade surplus came to four-point-one billion in February, marking 97 straight months in which the country's exports have exceeded its imports.

Güney Koreli şirketlerin küresel elektrikli araç (EV) pil pazarındaki toplam pazar payı ilk kez yüzde 40'ı aştı.

Enerji pazarı izleyicisi SNE Research salı günü yaptığı açıklamada, LG Chem, Samsung SDI ve SK Innovation'ın şubat ayında EV pil pazar paylarının toplam yüzde 42'sini birlikte oluşturduğunu bildirdi.

Bu rakam, bir yıl önce bildirdikleri yüzde 20,9’luk paylaşılan toplamın iki katından fazla.

Japon firması Panasonic yüzde 34,1’lik pay ile bireysel liderken, LG ocak ayında yüzde 22,1’lik dikkate değer bir artışla yüzde 29,6 ile ikinci sırada yer aldı.

Samsung ve SK sırasıyla yüzde 6,5 ve yüzde 5,9 ile beşinci ve altıncı oldu.

South Korean companies’ combined market share in the global electric vehicle(EV) battery market has surpassed 40 percent for the first time.

Energy market tracker SNE Research reported on Tuesday that LG Chem, Samsung SDI and SK Innovation together carved out 42 percent of EV battery market shares in February.

The figure is more than double the 20-point-nine percent combined share they posted a year earlier.

Japanese firm Panasonic was the individual leader with a share of 34-point-one percent, while LG ranked second with 29-point-six percent, a notable growth from 22-point-one percent in January.

Samsung and SK placed fifth and sixth with six-point-five percent and five-point-nine percent, respectively.

SNE Research partly attributed their growths to the negative growth of their Chinese rival, CATL. Many industry players, including the South Korean firms, however, were expected to face significant challenges starting from March, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
