Bu hanok, öğrenmeyi, erdemi ve orta Joseon Hanedanlığı'ndan gelen üst düzey bir memurun, Hwang Jeong (1426-1497) ana babaya saygısını onurlandırmak için inşa edilmiştir. Orjinal olarak 1545 yılında (Joseon Hanedanı Kral Myeongjong saltanatı içinde 1 yıl) Chubojae adıyla kurulmuş, ancak yıllar içinde fazla hasara uğramıştır. 1915 yılında site restore edilmiş ve Dobong Seodang olarak yeniden adlandırılmıştır.

This hanok was built to honor the learning, virtue and filial piety of Hwang Jeong (1426-1497), a high-ranking official from the mid Joseon Dynasty. Originally it was established with the name Chubojae in 1545 (1 year into the reign of King Myeongjong from the Joseon Dynasty), but it suffered much damage over the years. In 1915, the site was restored and renamed Dobong Seodang.
