Ancient Korean Sites Endorsed for World Heritage Listing

Dünya Mirası Listesi için Onaylanan Antik Kore Bölgeleri

Kültürel Miras İdaresi Başkanlığı tarafından 4 Mayıs 2015 tarihinde yayınlanan bu fotoğrafta, Güney Kore'nin güneybatısındaki Iksan kentinde bulunan Mireuk Tapınağı sitesi görülüyor. "Sites of Baekje Historical Area" sekiz tesisi ile, UNESCO danışma paneli Dünya Mirası alanı olarak tavsiye ettiği yerler arasında yer almaktadır.

This photo, released on May 4, 2015, by the Cultural Heritage Administration, shows the site of Mireuk Temple in the city of Iksan, southwestern South Korea. It is among the eight facilities in the "Sites of Baekje Historical Area" that a UNESCO advisory panel has recommended as a World Heritage site.

Lantern Festival Set to Light up Seoul’s Skies

Fener Festivali Seoul'ün Gökyüzünü Aydınlatmak için Hazırlanıyor

Seoul sokaklarında süsleyen renkli fenerler fark etmiş olabilirsiniz.

Yılın bu zamanı Korelilerin Buda'nın dünyaya gelişini fenerler ile kutlamak zamanıdır.

Her zamanki gibi, aydınlatma töreni şenliklerin başlangıcını işaret ediyor. 29 Nisan'da, Kore'nin taş tapınağı Mireuksaji şeklinde bilinen renk ve ölçeklerinde 20 metre yükseklikteki büyük bir fener, üç günlük festivalin başlaması münasebetiyle dikildi ve aydınlatıldı.

Tapınak, Kore'deki en eski ve 14.24 metre yüksekliği ile en yüksek, 11 numaralı ulusal hazine olan taş tapınaktır.

Ayrıca Mireuk Tapınağı sitesi, Kore'nin antik Baekje Krallığı'nın en büyük Budist tapınağının sembolüdür.

Tarihi kayıtlara göre, Mireuksaji'nin 27.67 metreye kadar uzandığına ve dokuz katlı olduğuna inanılıyor. Ancak, şu anda geçmişte gördüğü hasar nedeniyle altı katmanı vardır.

You may have noticed the colorful lanterns dotting the streets of Seoul.

It’s that time of the year, when Koreans celebrate Buddha’s coming into the world with lanterns.

As usual, a lighting ceremony signaled the start of the festivities. On April 29, a 20-meter-high massive lantern in the shape of Korea’s Mireuksaji stone pagoda was erected and lit, marking the beginning of the three-day festival known for its color and scale.

The pagoda, National Treasure No. 11, is the oldest and the highest stone pagoda in Korea at 14.24 meters high.

It is also a symbol of the Mireuksa Temple site, the biggest Buddhist temple from Korea’s ancient Baekje Kingdom

According to historical records, Mireuksaji is believed to have had nine tiers that were altogether as tall as 27.67 meters. It now only has six tiers, however, due to damage incurred in the past.

Spring Nighttime Festival to be Held in Jeong-dong in Seoul

Bahar Gecesi Festivali Seoul'de Jeong-dong'da Gerçekleştirilecek

Özel bir gece festivali Seoul'un merkezinde bulunan Jeong-dong çevresinde geç saatlerde bu ay içinde yapılacak.

Seoul Jung-gu bölge ofisi pazartesi günü düzenlediği basın toplantısında, 29 mayıs tarihinde başlayacak iki günlük bahar gecesi şenliğini duyurdu.

Festivaller boyunca, Güney Kore ABD Büyükelçisinin konutu da dahil Jeong-dong'da yer alan 20 site, saat 6'dan 10'a kadar halka açık olacak.

Deoksu Sarayı ve Jeong-dong Rasathanesi yürüyüş turu programlarında ilçedeki beş turizm firması turistlere rehberlik edecek.

A special nighttime festival will be held in the vicinity of Jeong-dong in central Seoul late this month.

At a news conference on Monday, Seoul’s Jung-gu district office announced the two-day spring nighttime festival to begin on May 29.

During festivities, 20 sites located in Jeong-dong, including the residence of the U.S. ambassador to South Korea, will be open to the public from 6 to 10 at night.

Walking tour programs will also guide sightseers through five tourist destinations in the district, such as Deoksu Palace and Jeong-dong Observatory.

1980 Askeri Cunta Karşıtı Ayaklanma Fotoğraf Sergisi

14 Mayıs'ta Yonhap Haber Ajansı foto muhabiri Na Kyung-taek tarafından çekilen ve yayınlanan daha sonra 18 Mayıs Memorial Vakfı tarafından alınan bu fotoğrafta, askeri cunta karşıtı bir vatandaş, Mayıs 1980'de General Chun Doo-hwan askeri cuntasına karşı Güney Kore'nin güney batısındaki Gwangju'da yapılan protestolar sırasında asker tarafından hırpalanıyor. Bu fotoğraf, yüzlerce vatandaşın protestolar sırasında öldürüldüğü bölgede, 18 Mayıs Demokratik Ayaklanması özel fotoğraf sergisi için sergilenmesi planlanan fotoğraflardan birisidir. Sergi 13 Mayıs - 14 Haziran tarihleri arasında ziyaretçilerle buluşacak.

In this photo, taken by then Yonhap News Agency photojournalist Na Kyung-taek and released on May 14, 2015, by the May 18 Memorial Foundation, soldiers beat a citizen in the martial law-gripped city of Gwangju, southwestern South Korea, during protests against the then military junta of Gen. Chun Doo-hwan in May 1980. The photo is one of the exhibits that the foundation plans to display for a special photo exhibition on the May 18th Democratic Uprising in which hundreds of citizens were killed in the region during the protests. The exhibition runs from May 13 to June 14.

Öğrenciler 15 Mayıs 2015 tarihinde Seoul'de, Joseon Hanedanlığı döneminde, 15. yüzyılda, Kore alfabesi "hangeul" bulan Kral Sejong'un 618. doğum yıldönümünü kutlamak için yapılan bir etkinlik sırasında geleneksel kraliyet kıyafetleri giymiş insanlara doğum günü pastası sunduktan sonra önlerinde eğildiler.
