A Remarriage Of A Father / Babanın İkinci Evliliği

Zamanın birinde yeni atanmış köy muhtarı görev yerine gelir ve sadık oğul diye bilinen kişiyi getirtir. Ebeveynlerinin ikisinin de hayatta olup olmadığını sorar. Oğlan, sadece babasının olduğunu söyler. Yeni muhtar: “Seni ailene karşı evlatlık görevlerini yerine getiren biri olduğunu duydum. Ama babanın bekar dolaştırırsan, nasıl sadık bir evlat olabilirsin?” dedi ve adamlarına oğlanı dövmelerini emretti. Babası bunu zevkle dinledikten sonra: “İyi, şimdi gerçek bir köy muhtarımız oldu.” dedi.

Pazar kurma günü gelince, oğlan pazara iki tane boğa getirdi. Bu boğaları babasına eş bulabilmek için satacağını söyledi. Arkadaşı: “Annem yalnız. Onu sizin eve göndereceğim. Boğanın birini bana ver.” Böylece oğlanın babası ve oğlanın arkadaşının annesi evlendi, mutlu mutlu yaşadılar. Babası ölünce arkadaşı boğayı ona geri getirdi ve “Bu bana geçen verdiğin boğa. Boğayı alıp babanın cenazesinde kullan. Diğerini de annem ölünce kullanırsın.”

Tek kalan babasının gönlünü hoş tutan kıza/oğla Soja (küçük evlat) denir. Köy muhtarı bu tür kişilere hoş davranışlarından dolayı ödül verir.

Köyün birine yeni muhtar atanmıştı. Kölelerine sordu: “Bu köyde ödüllendirilecek veya cezalandırılacak kimse var mıdır?”

“Köyde vefakar bir oğul vardır. Soja denir.”

“Pekâlâ. Getirin onu.”

Baba bunu duyunca: “Oğlum yeniden ödüllendirilecek.” diye düşündü.

Oğul, muhtarla görüşmeye gitti.

Muhtar: “Ebeveynlerin hayatta mı?”

“Sadece babam.”

“Ne! Alın bunu, götürüp dövün. Babanın gerçekte ne istediğini bilmezsen nasıl Soja olabilirsin?”

Köleler emredildiği gibi çocuğu dövmeye başladılar.

Baba, saat ilerlediğinden oğlunun dönmesini bekliyordu. “Şimdiye gelmiş olmalıydı. Neden henüz dönmedi?”

Oğlunun eve topallayarak döndüğünü gördü.

“Ne oldu? Neden toplallıyorsun?”

“Baba! Muhtar beni adamlarına dövdürttü.”

“Ne için?”

“Anne babamın olup olmadığını sordu. Sadece senin yaşadığını söyledim. Bana Soja denilemeyeceğini söyledi ve dövmelerini emretti.”

Bunu duyan baba: “İyi, şimdi gerçek bir köy muhtarımız oldu.”

Oğul iki boğa aldı. Pazarda boğaları satacakken yolda arkadaşıyla karşılaştı.

“Boğaları satıyor musun? Neden satıyorsun?”

“Ben mi? Üveyanne almak için.”

“Gerçekten mi?”

“Evet.”

“Anlıyorum. Birini bana ver. Annem, üveyannen olacak. O da yalnız.”

“Ciddi misin?”

“Tabii ki. Annemle sizin eve geleceğiz. Bizi bekleyin.”

“Pekala!”

Oğlanın evine düğün arabasıyla geldiler. Tören bile yaptılar. Ertesi gün, oğul babasına sordu:

“Dün gece de üşüdün mü?”

“Hayır. Hiç de bile. Uzun zamandır olmadığı kadar sıcaktı.”

Mutlu mesut yaşadılar. Babası öldüğünde doğal olarak arkadaşına haber yolladı. Çünkü artık üveykardeşlerdi. Üveykardeş geldiğinde yanında boğa da getirmişti. Oğul sordu:

“Abi, bu boğa niçin?”

“Bu senin bana verdiğin boğa. Şimdi baban için bunu kullan. Annem ölünce diğerini de onun için kullanırsın.”

Once upon a time, a newly appointed Head of a village came to the village and fetched a person who was known to be a faithful son. He asked him whether or not he had both parents. He answered that he only had a father. The new head said, "I've heard that you are person who does his filial duty to his parents. But, if you leave your father to be single, how can you be a faithful son?" and ordered him to be beaten. The father heard about this and said with pleasure "Well, we've now come to have a real head of this village."

When it was the day for an open market, the son took two bulls to the market. He said to his friend that he was going to sell them for money to get a new wife for his father. The friend said, "My mother is living alone. I'll take her to your house, Give me a bull." Thus his father and his friend's mother married and lived happily. When his father died, the friend brought the bull back to him and said, "This is the bull you gave to me last time. Take this back and use it for your father's funeral. And use the other for my mother when she dies."

A child who tries to keep his/her single father warm is called a Soja(little child). The head of a village used to give them reward for such a behaviour.

In a village, a new Head was appointed. He asked his servants,

"Is there any person in this village to be rewarded or punished?"

"There is a faithful son in the village. He is called Soja."

"All right! Fetch him then."

When the father heard about this, he thought, "My son is getting a reward again".

The son went to see the Head.

"Thank you for fetching me, sir."

The Head asked, "Do you have both parents?"

"No, sir. My father is alone."

"What? Take this man away and beat him. If you do not know what your father really wants, how can be called Soja?"

The servants began to beat him as ordered.

His father was waiting for him since it became late. "It is time that he came. Why hasn't he come back yet?"

He saw his son coming home limping.

"What happened? Why are you limping?"

"Father! The Head ordered his men to beat me."

"For what?"

"He asked whether I had both parents and I said that you were alone. Then he said that I shouldn't be called Soja and ordered to beat me."

Hearing this, the father said,

"Well, we finally have a real Head of the village."

The son had two bulls. He took them to a market and met a friend on the way.

"Are you selling the bulls? Why are you selling them all?"

"Me? I've come to buy my stepmother."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"I see. Then give me a bull to me. My mother will be your stepmother. She is alone, too."

"Are you serious?"

"Of course. I'll come to your house with her. Wait for us."

"All right!"

On the day he said he'd come, a wedding cart is coming towards his house. They thus had a wedding ceremony. On the next day, the son asked the father,

"Was it cold again last night?"

The father said,

"No, not at all. I've felt a warmth which I hadn't felt for a long time."

They lived happily. When the father died, he naturally sent a message to his friend, too. For they are stepbrothers now. When he came, he brought a bull. The son asked,

"Big brother, what is the bull for?"

"This is the bull you gave to me day our parents meet. Use this now and you can use another when my mother dies."
