Seoul Belediye Başkanı Ücretsiz Yemek Referandumunu Kaybetti
Seoul Belediye Başkanı Oh Se-hoon okullarda ücretsiz öğle yemeği referandumunun gerekli seçmen sayısına ulaşamaması ile iptal edilmesinin hemen ardından Şehir Salonu’nda yaptığı basın toplantısının öncesinde boyun eğdi. Oh tarafından önerilen referandumda, Seoul sakinlerinden muhalefet liderinin planı ile tüm öğrencilere ücretsiz öğle yemeği sağlamalarını istemişti. 21 Ağustosta bir basın toplantısında Oh, seçmen katılımının kentteki 8,4 milyon seçmenin üçte birinin altına düşerse belediye başkanlığından istifa edeceğini açıklamıştı.

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon bows prior to his press conference at City Hall, held right after a referendum on free school meals was annuled because voter turnout failed to reach the required quorum of one-third. In the referendum proposed by Oh, Seoul residents were asked whether to move forward with an opposition-led plan to provide all students with free lunch. On Aug. 21, Oh said in a press conference that he would resign as mayor if voter turnout fell short of one-third of the city’s nearly 8.4 million eligible voters.
