Every Autumn until 1924, the Queen held a ceremony to bless and encourage Korea's silk industry. Taking place in Suhyang pavilion located in Changdeok Palace, it involved the Queen's participation in the gathering of mulberry leaves, feeding silk worms, and a presentation of the best silk to the King. According to the documents, the last Royal Silk Festival was held in 1924 by the Empress Yoon-bi. After more than 70 years, the festival has been revivied, enacted according to the book Chin-jam-Eui-Gae. About 200 women wear traditional palace costumes reproduced exactly as historical documents showed.

Designated an official World Cup cultural event, the first fireworks festival was held in October 2002. Seoul International Fireworks Festival is a public service event by the Hanwha Group which draws some one million visitors every year. In fact, it is one of the country’s biggest events, about a quarter of Koreans have seen the event over the past decade.

The eighth Seoul International Fireworks Festival will be held at the Hangang Park’s Yeoido District on Sept. 26. World-class teams from 10 countries, including Japan, the United States, Australia, Italy and Hong Kong have participated in the event in the past. This year, Hanwha, China’s Sunny and Canada’s Apogee will take part. A multimedia show combining music, video, laser and water system will make its debut as the opening act.

Inje'de 30 Ocak ve 2 Subat tarihleri arasında Bingeo Festivali düzenleniyor. Bingeo küçük gümüş renginde bir balıktır. Büyük okullarda yüzer ve halkı eğlendirecek bazı eğlenceler hazırlanarak festival düzenlenir. Donmuş nehirdeki küçük delikleri kapışan konukların balık tutması en eğlenceli kısımdır. Buz herkesi üzerinde tutacak kadar kalındır, ve bilgileri takip ederek herkes taze bingeo balığını yakalayabilir.

Bingeo yakalandıktan sonra hemen yenilebilecek temizlikte bir balıktır. Bu nedenle bir çok yerli gibi kırmızı bibere batırarak yiyebilirsiniz.

Balık tutma ekipmanlarının kirası 2,000 won ve 3,000 won arası değişir, yem ise 2,000 won'dur. Festival komitesi, sizleri sıcak tutacak termos, ekstra eldiven ve çorap getirmenizi tavsiye eder.

Festival yerine varmak için Doğu Asya Otobüs terminalinden Inje'ye giden otobüse binin. Yolculuk iki saat sürecektir.

Inje offers its 12th Bingeo Festival from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2. Bingeo, is a small silver fish that swims in large schools and the festival has prepared fun and interacting games that will entertain the crowd. Fishing is the most fun part with many visitors scrambling toward the small holes on the frozen river. The ice is thick enough to hold all people there, and following simple instructions, visitors can watch, catch and taste fresh bingeo.

Bingeo are small and clean enough to be eaten right after they are caught, so don't feel afraid to poke them into red pepper paste and then straight into your mouth, like many locals do.

Fishing equipment can be rented for 2,000 won to 3,000 won, and bait for 2,000 won. The festival committee advises visitors to bring supplies that may keep them warm, such as a thermos flask, extra socks and gloves.
