Baek graduated from Busan High School, Busan, South Korea in 1998. He was signed by the Seattle Mariners as an amateur free agent on September 25, 1998.

Professional Career

Sattle Mariners
He made his professional with the Peoria Mariners in 1999. In his first start he struck out 8 batters over 5.0 innings on July 18.

Was 4-1 with a 3.86 ERA in 9 home starts with Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2000. He was placed on the disabled list on June 2 with a right arm flexor strain. Baek went 5-3 after coming off the DL June 15. At the end of the season he was listed among Baseball America's top-20 Midwest League prospects at the end of the season.

Spent most season on the San Bernardino Stampede's disabled list. He made 2 starts before being placed on the DL from April 13 to May 14 with soreness in his right elbow. He pitched in 3 games, 2 starts in May before suffering a strained right elbow in his final start of the season in May. Placed on the DL again in June through the end of the 2001 season.

Baek missed the entire 2002 season after undergoing right elbow surgery. He participated in the Mariners Fall Instructional League.

He split the 2003 season between the Inland Empire 66ers and the San Antonio Missions. He started the season with Inland Empire appearing in 13 games, 10 starts. From April 19 to the 24 he pitched 10 scoreless innings in two starts. Baek won three consecutive starts from April 19 to the 30. Placed on the disabled list from May 8 to June 10 with a right elbow inflammation. On July 17 he was transferred to San Antonio. Baek was non-tendered by the Mariners in December 2005 following a disappointing year in Triple-A with the Tacoma Rainiers. Baek returned to the Rainiers for the 2006 season. He posted an 11-4 record with a 2.80 ERA, which earned him a recall to the Mariners in August 2006, following their trade of Jamie Moyer to the Philadelphia Phillies.[3] After that, he was moved to being a relief pitcher and spot starter for the Mariners.

San Diego Padres

In May 2007, Baek was designated for assignment by the Mariners. Later in the month, he was traded to the San Diego Padres for Jared Wells. Baek hit his first career home run on July 20, 2008, off Jaime Garcia.

On October 8, 2009, the Padres released Baek.

Orix Buffaloes

On November 14, 2011, he signed with Orix Buffaloes. However, he didn't play any games in 2012.

Ryu made his major league debut with the Chicago Cubs on May 14, 2006, in a relief appearance against the San Diego Padres. He made his first major league start on May 28, 2006, in which he threw only 28 pitches before being relieved after having allowed 6 runs in innings pitched. He was sent back to the minor leagues almost immediately afterwards. He would go on to make the 2006 MLB Futures Team. He would return to the Cubs for late August and September making several bullpen appearances, faring slightly better and finishing the year with an 8.40 ERA. Ryu was traded to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on February 14, 2007, in exchange for minor leaguers. He made his first major league start on May 28, 2006, in which he threw only 28 pitches before being relieved after having allowed 6 runs in innings pitched. He was sent back to the minor leagues almost immediately afterwards. He would go on to make the 2006 MLB Futures Team. He would return to the Cubs for late August and September making several bullpen appearances, faring slightly better and finishing the year with an 8.40 ERA. Ryu was traded to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on February 14, 2007, in exchange for minor leaguers. He made the Devil Rays' active roster, and began the season in the bullpen.Since osprey are protected in Florida, he faced a fine for the incident

On January 15, 2009, Ryu was claimed off waivers by the San Diego Padres. On March 26, 2009, Ryu was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Indians.

On January 24, 2010, it was reported that Ryu had signed with the Texas Rangers.

Park Jae-Hong(7 Eylül 1973, Gwangju doğumlu) Kore Beyzbol Organizasyonu takımı SK Wyverns için oynayan Güney Koreli dış saha oyuncusudur. Park Jae-Hong (born September 7, 1973 in Gwangju) is a South Korean outfielder who currently plays for SK Wyverns in the Korea Baseball Organization. Park is currently considered one of the best five-tool players in the KBO league. He is the first player in the KBO history to have 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in 1996 and the only player to have more than two seasons of 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases, doing so a record three times (1996, 1998 and 2000). He actually did 30-30 in his debut season(1996), the only person to do so until Mike Trout, who did it on 2012.

Park competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics, and led his team to the bronze medal in the baseball tournament.

Amateur Career

While attending Gwangu Jaeil High School, Park was a highly regarded right-handed power pitcher. In 1991, he was selected for the South Korean national junior baseball team as a pitcher to compete against the Japan and USA national junior teams at the 3-nation friendly baseball series in California, United States. The Korean team swept all the games with a record of 4-0 and Park drew attention from MLB scouts along with fellow pitchers Park Chan-Ho and Lim Sun-Dong.

In 1992, upon graduation from high school, Park started to play college baseball at Yonsei University, converting his position to third base. While at Yonsei University, Park led his team to five college championships in four years alongside Lim Sun-Dong and Jo In-seong.

In 1993, as a sophomore Park was selected for the South Korea national baseball team and competed in the Asian Baseball Championship held in Perth, Australia. The South Korean team won silver and Park was named to the All-Star Team as a third baseman.

As a senior in 1995, Park helped Yonsei University win the 1995 National College Championship (Spring Season) and was named MVP with Home Run, RBI and Stolen Bases titles. After the 1995 college season, he signed with the Hyundai Phoenix in the Korea Baseball Association amateur league, refusing to join the KBO pro league in order to participate in the 1996 Summer Olympics next year.


Professional Career

Hyundai Unicorns
After the 1995 KBO season, the Pacific Dolphins based in Incheon was purchased by Hyundai Group due to financial difficulties, and the team was moved before the 1996 season to Suwon and renamed the Hyundai Unicorns. Due to the business relationship between the Phoenix and the Unicorns, five players in the Hyundai Phoenix roster moved to the Hyundai Unicorns and Park eventually decided to join the pro league, signing with the Unicorns in March 1996. In the 1996 KBO season, as a rookie Park become the first player in KBO history to join the 30-30 club. He also won the home run and RBI titles and Golden Glove Awards as an outfielder. After the season, Park was named Rookie of the Year in unanimous vote and runner-up behind Koo Dae-Sung of the Hanwha Eagles in the MVP balloting.

Park joined his second 30-30 club in 1998 when he hit 30 home runs and stole a career-high 43 bases. After the season, Park was selected for the South Korea national baseball team and led his team to their first Asian Games gold medal in the baseball tournament, batting .455 with 3 home runs and 12 RBI.

Park joined his third 30-30 club in the 2000 KBO season when he hit 32 home runs and stole 30 bases. Park also won his second RBI title, driving in 115 runs. In September 2000, he competed for South Korea in the 2000 Summer Olympics where they won the bronze medal in the baseball tournament.

Prior to the 2003 season, Park was traded to the Kia Tigers for third baseman Jeong Seong-Hoon. In 2003, he had his third .300 plus batting average (.301) season, accumulating 19 home runs, 66 RBI and 14 stolen bases.

In 2004, Park hit his 200th career home run on May 11 to become the tenth player in 22-year KBO history to reach the milestone. However, he had his worst pro season due to injuries, batting a career-low .253 and hitting only 7 home runs and 47 hits in 73 games played.

SK Wyverns
After the 2004 season, Park was traded to the SK Wyverns where he played center field and batted cleanup or 5th in the order.

On July 23, 2005, Park joined the 200-200 club as its first member in KBO history, getting his 200th stolen base of his career.

In the 2007 season, Park had 17 home runs, and led the Wyverns to their first Korean Series championship.

Park Hyun-June (born September 22, 1986 in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do) was formerly a South Korean pitcher who played for the SK Wyverns and the LG Twins in the Korea Baseball Organization. He batted and threw right-handed.

Amateur Career

In 2005, Park enrolled in Kyung Hee University after graduation from Jeonju High School. Park started to garner attention in 2007 when he pitched a no-hitter against Wonkwang University in the group round of the college national championship (fall league) on September 12.

In 2008, as a senior at Kyung Hee University, Park led his team to win the college national championship (spring league) and earned MVP honors, tossing a two-run complete game victory in the final and posting a 3-0 record and a 0.87 ERA through the tournament. In July 2008, Park was selected for the South Korean collegiate national baseball team to complete in the World University Baseball Championship as a starter in the Czech Republic, when he was one of the most disappointing pitchers on the team. He racked up a win against Chinese Taipei in the round-robin phase, which assured South Korea a spot in the semifinals. However, he finished the tournament with a 6.61 ERA and 15 runs allowed in 16.1 innings.

SK Wyverns
Park was drafted by the SK Wyverns in the second round (8th pick, 16th overall) of the 2009 amateur draft. In the 2009 season, Park appeared in just 14 games as a setup man and posted a 5.82 ERA in 17 innings. After the season, Park was called up to the South Korean national baseball team and competed in the Baseball World Cup, where he was 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA appearing in 4 games as a relief pitcher.

Park was selected for the 26-man roster of the Wyverns' first team at the start of the 2010 season. However, he was relegated to the minor league after posting a horrendous ERA of 12.50 as a relief pitcher.

LG Twins
On July 28, 2010, Park was traded to the LG Twins. The Twins immediately moved Park from bullpen to the starting rotation of the Twins' first team, where he emerged as one of the Twins' reliable starters for the next season racking up 2 wins with a 5.76 ERA in 9 games as a starter. After the 2010 season, Park was selected for the South Korean national baseball team to compete in the Intercontinental Cup held in Taichung. He hurled a complete game to lead South Korea to a 8-1 win over Japan in Round 2 of the competition. Park was released from the Twins and banned from any professional baseball activities when he was involved in a match-fixing scandal with fellow pitcher Kim Seong-Hyun.

Park Hyun-June (born September 22, 1986 in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do) was formerly a South Korean pitcher who played for the SK Wyverns and the LG Twins in the Korea Baseball Organization. He batted and threw right-handed.

Amateur Career

In 2005, Park enrolled in Kyung Hee University after graduation from Jeonju High School. Park started to garner attention in 2007 when he pitched a no-hitter against Wonkwang University in the group round of the college national championship (fall league) on September 12.

In 2008, as a senior at Kyung Hee University, Park led his team to win the college national championship (spring league) and earned MVP honors, tossing a two-run complete game victory in the final and posting a 3-0 record and a 0.87 ERA through the tournament. In July 2008, Park was selected for the South Korean collegiate national baseball team to complete in the World University Baseball Championship as a starter in the Czech Republic, when he was one of the most disappointing pitchers on the team. He racked up a win against Chinese Taipei in the round-robin phase, which assured South Korea a spot in the semifinals. However, he finished the tournament with a 6.61 ERA and 15 runs allowed in 16.1 innings.

SK Wyverns
Park was drafted by the SK Wyverns in the second round (8th pick, 16th overall) of the 2009 amateur draft. In the 2009 season, Park appeared in just 14 games as a setup man and posted a 5.82 ERA in 17 innings. After the season, Park was called up to the South Korean national baseball team and competed in the Baseball World Cup, where he was 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA appearing in 4 games as a relief pitcher.

Park was selected for the 26-man roster of the Wyverns' first team at the start of the 2010 season. However, he was relegated to the minor league after posting a horrendous ERA of 12.50 as a relief pitcher.

LG Twins
On July 28, 2010, Park was traded to the LG Twins. The Twins immediately moved Park from bullpen to the starting rotation of the Twins' first team, where he emerged as one of the Twins' reliable starters for the next season racking up 2 wins with a 5.76 ERA in 9 games as a starter. After the 2010 season, Park was selected for the South Korean national baseball team to compete in the Intercontinental Cup held in Taichung. He hurled a complete game to lead South Korea to a 8-1 win over Japan in Round 2 of the competition. Park was released from the Twins and banned from any professional baseball activities when he was involved in a match-fixing scandal with fellow pitcher Kim Seong-Hyun.

Amateur Career

While attending Daegu High School, Son's main position was shortstop in the team. During his last season in Daegu High School, he occasionally appeared in games as a relief pitcher for the team and his 90+ mph fastball drew the attention of Korea Professional Baseball scouts, and he was drafted as a pitcher by the Hyundai Unicorns in 2001 in the 2nd round and as the 33rd pick overall.

However, Son decided to enter the Unicorns after graduation from college and continued to play baseball as a pitcher at Yeungnam University in Daegu. At Yeungnam University, he developed into one of the top collegiate pitchers along with Oh Seung-Hwan and Jang Won-Sam. As a sophomore in 2002, Son was called up to the Under-22 South Korea national team for the inaugural World University Baseball Championship held in Messina, Italy. In 2003, Son was selected for the South Korean national team as an amateur player and participated in the Baseball World Cup held in Havana, Cuba. At the World Cup, he led team in innings pitched with 18.1 and earned a save against Italy in the round-robin stage.

Professional Career

Signed by the Hyundai Unicorns upon graduation from college in 2005, Son entered the Korea Professional Baseball to high expectations, where many expected him to be the future ace of the Unicorns. He spent his rookie year as a full-time starting pitcher but went a disappointing 5-10 with a 5.43 ERA.

In 2006, Son started the season in the bullpen and occasionally appeared in games as a No.5 starter in the middle of the season. As a utility pitcher, he finished the season with a 6-5 record, 2 holds and an ERA of 4.17.

However, Son was sidelined with injuries for the whole 2007 season and after the season he left the team to perform two-year military duty. During the duty, Son played for the Police Baseball Team in the Korea Baseball Futures League on the side. In September 2009, he was selected for the South Korea national baseball team again and competed in the Baseball World Cup as a starting pitcher.

In 2010, Son came back to the pro baseball league after finishing the two-year military service. In the Nexen Heroes, which bought the right of the Hyundai Unicorns in 2008, Son made a transition to the closing job and posted a record of 2-3 with 26 saves and a 2.56 ERA. He led the KBO league in saves and became the first Hero to win a title in any individual categories.

Son had another strong season as a KBO top closer in 2011 when he had a career-low ERA of 1.89, saved 17 games, and won 4.

Amateur career

In November 1993, as a junior at Shinil High School in Seoul, South Korea, Cho was selected as a member of the South Korea junior national baseball team and competed in the annual friendly baseball series against the Japan junior national baseball team in Okinawa, Japan.

In 1994, Cho started his collegiate career playing for Yonsei University. Regarded as the nation's top catching prospect in college baseball, he regularly participated in international events during his four years at the college.

In 1996, Cho was called up to the South Korea national baseball team for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States. In the Olympics, he hit 2 home runs, including a 2-run home run off of Masanori Sugiura, with a .263 batting average and 5 RBIs.

In November 1993, as a junior at Shinil High School in Seoul, South Korea, Cho was selected as a member of the South Korea junior national baseball team and competed in the annual friendly baseball series against the Japan junior national baseball team in Okinawa, Japan.

In 1994, Cho started his collegiate career playing for Yonsei University. Regarded as the nation's top catching prospect in college baseball, he regularly participated in international events during his four years at the college.

In 1996, Cho was called up to the South Korea national baseball team for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States. In the Olympics, he hit 2 home runs, including a 2-run home run off of Masanori Sugiura, with a .263 batting average and 5 RBIs.

Lee Jong-wook is a South Korean outfielder who plays for the Doosan Bears in the Korean professional baseball league.

Professional Career

In 2003, he joined the Hyundai Unicorns after graduating from Youngnam University in Daegu. However, he did not play any games since he joined the military service in December of that year.

In 2006, when he was discharged from the military, he joined the Doosan Bears as a trainee. At that time, he tried to practice and develop his skill. At last, The Doosan's Head coach Kim Kyung-Moon selected him and Lee tried to survive, not to lose the opportunity. As a result, he could settle down the major group of Bears.

In Summer Olympic Games 2008, Lee contributed to win the gold medal for his national team. In the team's first game of round-robin play against the United States, he hit the game-winning sacrifice fly to score Lee Taek-Keun in the bottom of the 9th inning.

His biggest advantage was to run fast. Therefore he made fifty-one steals in that season even though his team failed to join the post-season in 2006. Next year, he made forty-seven steals while he hit a homer and made a 0.316 hitting average. He can run to the third base if he hit a ball to the further course of a stadium. He can steal to the second or third base in any situation even a good pitcher marks tightly or a catcher throws a ball exactly. In addition, he can catch a flying ball which drops into the point in which any outfielder get hardly or miss.

He contributed and led the Bears to the Final round of 2007 and 2008 post-season. Especially he made 0.517 hitting average and three SBs in playoffs 2008. And won the Most Valuable Player straight two years in 2007 and 2008 playoff of two post-seasons.

Ambulansın gelip Lim’i hastaneye ulaştırmasına rağmen kazandan aldığı beyin hasarının büyük kısmı Lim’e stadyumda düştükten hemen sonra bir ilk yardımın yapılmamasının sebep olduğu söylendi. Yetersiz ilk yardım ve ardından gelen beyin hasarı sonucu beyne oksijen gitmemesi Lim’in hastaneye getirildikten sonra hastanede ona yardım edecek yeterli sayıda doktorun olmadığı anlamına geliyor. Bunundan ardından eski beyzbol oyuncusu Lim 10 yılını bitkisel hayatta geçirdi.

Daha sonra ailesi 2003 yılı Nisan ayında Lotte Giants ve LG Twins’e 800 milyonluk dava açtı.

Ölümü

Career

In 1994, Lim began to start baseball and a promising player with a lot of potential. In his rookie season, Lim batted .250 in 29 games, and .247 with 15 home runs. In 1996, Lim produced .311 with 11 home runs and 76 RBI. During his seven year career, he began to boost a career total of 345 hits, 47 home runs, and .257 RBI with a .266 RBI.

Personal Life

On April, 2000, Lim suddenly collapsed at the second base against the LG Twins at the Jamsil Stadium in southern Seoul. Reports said that Lim collapsed due to a heart arrhythmia or irregular heartbeat and failed to receive cardiopulmonary resuscitation on time. Although an emergency medical service vehicle arrived and transported Lim to a hospital, the brain damage he received from the incident was said to have resulted largely from the lack of first aid soon after Lim collapsed at the stadium. Poor first aid and the ensuing brain damage resulting from lack of oxygen to the brain meant there wasn't much the doctors at the hospital could do to help Lim once he was brought to the hospital. The former baseball player went onto spend the next decade in a vegetative state.

His family later sued the Lotte Giants and LG Twins in April, 2003 for 800 million.

Death

On February 7, 2010, Lim Soo-Hyeok died from a cardiac dysrhythmia when he was taken into Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital in eastern Seoul.

Ambulansın gelip Lim’i hastaneye ulaştırmasına rağmen kazandan aldığı beyin hasarının büyük kısmı Lim’e stadyumda düştükten hemen sonra bir ilk yardımın yapılmamasının sebep olduğu söylendi. Yetersiz ilk yardım ve ardından gelen beyin hasarı sonucu beyne oksijen gitmemesi Lim’in hastaneye getirildikten sonra hastanede ona yardım edecek yeterli sayıda doktorun olmadığı anlamına geliyor. Bunundan ardından eski beyzbol oyuncusu Lim 10 yılını bitkisel hayatta geçirdi.

Daha sonra ailesi 2003 yılı Nisan ayında Lotte Giants ve LG Twins’e 800 milyonluk dava açtı.

Ölümü

Lim Soo-Hyeok 7 Şubat 2010 yılında Seoul’un güneyindeki Kangdong Sacred Heart Hastanesi’ne götürüldükten sonra kalbindeki ritim bozukluğu nedeniyle hayata gözlerini yumdu.

Career

In 1994, Lim began to start baseball and a promising player with a lot of potential. In his rookie season, Lim batted .250 in 29 games, and .247 with 15 home runs. In 1996, Lim produced .311 with 11 home runs and 76 RBI. During his seven year career, he began to boost a career total of 345 hits, 47 home runs, and .257 RBI with a .266 RBI.

Personal Life

On April, 2000, Lim suddenly collapsed at the second base against the LG Twins at the Jamsil Stadium in southern Seoul. Reports said that Lim collapsed due to a heart arrhythmia or irregular heartbeat and failed to receive cardiopulmonary resuscitation on time. Although an emergency medical service vehicle arrived and transported Lim to a hospital, the brain damage he received from the incident was said to have resulted largely from the lack of first aid soon after Lim collapsed at the stadium. Poor first aid and the ensuing brain damage resulting from lack of oxygen to the brain meant there wasn't much the doctors at the hospital could do to help Lim once he was brought to the hospital. The former baseball player went onto spend the next decade in a vegetative state.

His family later sued the Lotte Giants and LG Twins in April, 2003 for 800 million.

Death

On February 7, 2010, Lim Soo-Hyeok died from a cardiac dysrhythmia when he was taken into Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital in eastern Seoul.

Lee Yong-Chan is a South Korean closer who plays for the Doosan Bears in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Amateur Career

Lee attended Jangchung High School in Seoul, South Korea. In 2006, he was selected for the South Korea national junior team that won the gold medal at the World Junior Baseball Championship in Cuba. Lee came on in relief and hurled three inning no-hitter with six strikeouts in a 9–0 victory over South Africa. He started Team Korea's fourth game of the round robin phase against Cuba, but allowed six runs and seven hits in just three innings.

Professional Career

Upon graduation from Jangchung High School in 2007, Lee join the Doosan Bears, selected in the first round of the 2007 KBO Draft. However, he was sidelined the entire season after undergoing elbow surgery.

Lee was added to the 26-man first team roster of the Bears in the start of 2008 season, and posted a solid 1.23 ERA with 12 strikeouts, allowing two earned runs in eight games in April. On April 30, Lee earned his first professional win over the Kia Tigers, coming on relief and pitching 2.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. However, he was again placed on the disabled list in May when his elbow symptoms returned during a game, and didn't come up to the first team roster until the end of the season.

Lee had his best season as a closer in 2009 when he led the KBO league with a league-leading 26 saves, appearing in 51 games. He was regarded as an unconventional closer, however, as he didn't overwhelm hitters. Despite 19 saves and a 3.00 ERA before the All-Star break, he struggled the second half of the season when his ERA jumped to 4.98. Lee managed to rebound nicely from the slump in September, the final month of season, hurling 6.1 scoreless innings and racking 3 saves, but his final ERA (4.20) was the second-highest among the Top 10 closers of the 2009 KBO league.

Lee picked up his first save of the 2010 season on March 28 against the Kia Tigers and soon became the league's leading closer. He saved 11 consecutive games before he suffered his first blown save of the season on May 19 against the Hanwha Eagles. On September 6, 2010, Lee was arrested in Apgujeong-dong, Seoul on drunk driving charges after the police caught him in hit-and-run crash. He was pulled over and took a Breathalyzer test, which he failed. He was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. The Bears suspended him indefinitely later that day when media reports of the arrest surfaced.
