Yonwhadaemu / 연화데무 (Court Dance)



Koryo Hanedanlığı’ndan (918-1392) kalma bu turna dansı, turnaların zarif özelliklerini gösteren Kore’nin ünlü geleneksel maske dansıdır. Aslında Koryo Hanedanlığı sırasında Çin’den Kore’ye getirilen Yonwhadaemu, sahneye konulmuş iki lotus kaidesi ile hayırsever krala olan hayranlığı dile getirmek için yapılmıştır. Bu turna dansının ve lotus kaidesi dansının saraydaki ziyafetler sırasında sahnede birlikte yapıldığı düşünülmektedir. Choyongmu, Birleşik Shilla Dönemi’nden (668-935) Choyong’un (Ejderha Kralı’n oğlu) efsanevi bir hikayesine dayanmaktadır. Dansçılar, Doğu felsefesinde beş farklı yönü (doğu, güney, orta, kuzey, batı) simgeleyen beş farklı renkten (mavi, kırmızı, sarı, siyah, beyaz) oluşan kostümleri giyerler. Choyongmu, Somut Olmayan Önemli 39. Kültür Varlığı olarak belirlenmiştir.

Dating from the Koryo Dynasty (918-1392), the crane dance is a famous Korean traditional mask dance showing the graceful features of cranes. Yonwhadaemu, originally brought to Korea from China during the Koryo Dynasty, was performed to express admiration for the benevolent king with two lotus pedestals set on the stage. It is believed that the crane dance and the lotus pedestal dance were performed on the same stage in court banquets. Choyongmu is based on a legendary story of Choyong (the son of the Dragon King) from the Unified Shilla Period (668-935). The dancers wear costumes with five different colors (blue, red, yellow, black, white) symbolizing th five directions (east, south, center, north, west) in Oriental philosophy. Choyongmu has been designated Important Inangible Cultural Asset #39.
