Genel Bakış

Kore'nin en eski özel üniversitesi olan, Yonsei Üniversitesi ilk Hıristiyan misyonerleri tarafından 1885 yılında kurulmuştur. Misyonumuz "Hakikat ve özgürlük" ruhu içinde insanlığa katkıda bulunacak lider yetiştirmektir. Bu isteğe doğru 300.000 Yonsei mezunu dünyanın dört bir yanında liderlik pozisyonlarında ve bundan gurur duyuyoruz.

Yonsei'nın ana kampüsü ferah, güzel ve doğaldır. Seoul'un metropolitan şehir merkezinde ekonomik, siyasi ve kültürel merkezlerinden bir kaç dakika mesafede bulunur. Yonsei'nın Kurucu Ruhu

Yonsei Üniversitesi Hakikat ve özgürlük ruhu taşıyan liderler yetiştiriyor. 1885'te, Yonsei kurucu felsefesini, Yuhanna İncili belirledi; " Siz sözüme bağlı kalır ve gerçekten benim öğrencilerim olursanız gerçeği bilirsiniz ve o gerçek sizi özgür kılar."

Yonsei'nın felsefesi

Ayrıca adalet için bir taahhüt tanıyarak cesaretle komşularımıza hizmet edip insanoğlunun refahına katkıda bulunma yolunda ilham vermeye devam ediyoruz.

Yonsei'yi gelecekte dünya sahnesinde gururla ayakta tutabilmek isteriz ve bu amacı kendi önderliğimizde başaracağız."

Vizyon

127. yılını kutlayan Yonsei Üniversitesi hakikat ve özgürlük ruhu içinde millet ve insanlığa hizmet eden liderler yetiştiriyor.

Chosun Hanedanı'nın modernleşme beşiği olan Yonsei, Kore'nin ilk modern yüksek eğitim kurumu oldu. 1885 yılında, Yonsei Üniversitesi (ilk kuruluş) Kıdem Hastanesi ve Yonhi Koleji oluşturulmasına takiben, Jejungwon'un kurulmasıyla damgasını vurdu. (İkinci Kuruluş) 1957 yılında Yonhi Üniversitesi ve Kıdem Tıp Fakültesi birleşmesi ile oldu. Daha sonra Wonju'da bir kampüs inşa edilmesiyle, Yonsei Kore'nin en prestijli özel üniversitesi olarak Kore toplumunun ilerlemesine yol açtı. 2010 yılında Incheon'da uluslararası bir kampüs açılması ile Yonsei'nin "Üçüncü kuruluşu" gerçekleşti.

Yonsei küresel çağda öncü değişiklikler ile dünya standartlarında bir üniversite olma yolunda bir atılım atarken, Koreli üniversitelere yeni bir paradigma geliştirmek için tarihsel misyonunu emanet etmiştir. Bu nedenle, Yonsei tüm bilgisini ve yeteneklerini sunarak bir sonraki dönemlere aktarıyor.

Eğitim ve araştırma imkanlarında altyapının tüm yönleriyle bir sinerji oluştururken Yonsei Üniversitesi, çok kampüslü yapısı ile özerklik ve yakınsama sağlayarak kendi kampüslerinde ayırt edici özelliklerini terbiye edecektir.

Bu vizyonu yerine getirerek, Yonsei Üniversitesi 21. yüzyılda dünyaya yol açabilir eğitim ve araştırmada bir sığınak olmak için kurulduğundan bu yana çok sevilmiştir. ve bu yolda mükemmellik ve saygınlığnı bir kez daha teyit edecektir.

Üniversite Amblemi

Üniversite kolları "ㅇ" ve "ㅅ" "연세" (Korece de "Yonsei") ilk harflerinden türetilmiştir."ㅅ" bilimsel mükemmellik için yukarı dönük arayışı sembolize ederken daire "ㅇ", tam ve çok yönlü kişi idealini temsil eder. Yonsei "Üniversite Kimliği"

Yonsei Maskotu



Yonsei, yükselen kartal maskotu ve mavi renk ile temsil edilir. Bu iki görüntü, bir araya getirdiğinde, mavi göğe yükselen güçlü bir kartal vizyonu katar. Kartal, gökyüzüne (gerçeğin sembolü) yerleşmiştir, gerçeğin en güvenilir koruyucusudur ve aynı zamanda gökyüzü onun yaşam alanıdır. Modernleşme Bayrağı(1885 - 1917)

21. Yüzyılın Lideri (1993 - Günümüz)

1996 Genel Eğitim Departmanı kuruldu. "Yonsei 21. Yüzyıl Projesi" olarak nitelendirdi.
1997 Yonsei Üniversitesi Dil Enstitüsü Los Angeles'ta açıldı.
1999 Yonsei Tıp Merkezi 21. yüzyıl vizyonunu açıkladı.
2000 Zaman Kapsülü gömüldü. (2085 yılında 200. yıldönümünde açılması planlanan).
2005 120. Yıldönümü Kutlamaları. Yonsei 2020 vizyonunu duyurdu. Yeni Severance Hastanesi kuruldu.

Overview

Being the oldest private university in Korea, Yonsei University was first established in 1885 by Christian missionaries. Our mission is to educate leaders who will contribute to humanity in the spirit of “truth and freedom.” The 300,000 Yonsei alumni who take this calling to heart can be found manifesting this proud spirit from leadership positions around the world.

Yonsei’s main campus is ensconced in a spacious, picturesque and natural setting located minutes away from the economic, political, and cultural centers of Seoul's metropolitan downtown. Yonsei has 3,500 eminent faculty members who are conducting cutting-edge research across all academic disciplines. There are 18 graduate schools, 22 colleges and 133 subsidiary institutions hosting a selective pool of students from around the world.

Yonsei is proud of its history and reputation as a leading institution of higher education and research in Asia.

Yonsei's Founding Spirit

Yonsei University cultivates leaders who embody the spirit of truth and freedom. In 1885, Yonsei's founder chose our founding philosophy from a passage in the Gospel according to John: "If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

Vision

Yonsei University is celebrating the 127th anniversary of its foundation today, after more than a century of raising leaders to serve the nation and humanity in the Christian spirit of truth and freedom.

As the cradle of the Chosun Dynasty's modernization, Yonsei was the first modern higher education institution in Korea. In 1885, the “First Founding” of Yonsei University was marked by the establishment of Jejungwon, followed by the creation of Severance Hospital and Yonhi College. The "Second Founding" came with the merger of Yonhi University and Severance Medical School in 1957. By later constructing a campus in Wonju, Yonsei led the advancement of Korean society as the most prestigious private university in Korea. With the opening of an international campus in Incheon in 2010, Yonsei initiated its "Third Founding".

Yonsei has been entrusted with a historical mission to develop a new paradigm for Korean universities, whilst taking a leap toward becoming a world-class university by pioneering change in our global era. Hence, Yonsei is proclaiming our vision of the "Third Founding" to bring forth the next prominent period of history-making by fostering the knowledge and talents of all Yonseians. Yonsei University will nurture holistic leaders with communication and convergence skills, as well as creativity, cultural diversity and Christian leadership, by establishing an educational institution of global stature.

Yonsei University will promote world-class research by implementing an innovative reform of its research infrastructure, while expanding convergence research and industry-academic cooperation.

Yonsei University will advance its campus infrastructure by ensuring a sound financial base and administrative system, in addition to renovating the campus environment.

University Emblem

The "ㅇ" and "ㅅ" in the University arms are derived from the first letters of "연세" ("Yonsei" in Korean). The circle "ㅇ" represents the ideal of a complete and well-rounded person, while the "ㅅ" symbolizes the upward-looking pursuit for scholarly excellence. In addition, the "ㅇ" stands for Heaven; the "-" represents the horizon of the Earth; and "ㅅ" signifies "man," as expressed in the Chinese character (人). The open book stands for truth; the torchlight signifies freedom; and the arms, as a whole, protects these two core principles of the university

University Symbol



The university emblem pictures a soaring eagle, epitomizing both the historic traditions behind Yonsei and its spirit of ascendancy.

Yonsei "University Identity"

In September 2001, Yonsei introduced a new "University Identity," with a fresh set of logos, emblems, and mascot characters that embody the institution's philosophy and vision for the future.

Yonsei Mascot



Yonsei is represented by the mascot of a soaring eagle and by the color blue. These two images, when brought together, conjure up the vision of an eagle powerfully soaring into the blue sky. The eagle, by inhabiting the sky (a symbol of truth), personifies at once the most reliable guardian of the truth and also the most free creature that calls the sky its habitat (thus living "in" truth). The color blue stands not only for the color of the sky, but also for an untainted intellect and a genuine idealism. Thus, the university mascot of the eagle and the school color blue faithfully represent Yonsei's guiding principles of truth and freedom.
The character image representing the eagle projects an image of strength, as well as friendliness, personifying the university's unique status in addition to its vision for the future. The first image below is the university's mascot while the other figures are adaptations for various athletic departments.

History

Flagship of Modernization (1885 - 1917)

1885 Kwanghyewon, the first modern hospital in Korea, established, then
renamed as Jejoongwon.
1886 Medical School established at Jejoongwon, the first medical school
in Korea.
1904 Severance Hospital dedicated.
1915 Chosen Christian College established; first classes held at YMCA.
1917 Chosen Christian College authorized as "Private Yonhi College."
"Severance Union Medical College" newly authorized.

Leading Advocate of National Identity during the Colonial Occupation (1918-1956)

1946 Yonhi officially recognized as a university, with four colleges and
11 departments.
1949 Severance Medical College's preparatory department becomes part of
Yonhi University's College of Science and Engineering.
1951 Relocated to Busan during the Korean War.
1952 Severance Medical College and Hospital returns to Seoul.
1953 Yonhi University returns to Seoul.

Reconfiguration into a Modern University and Innovative Restructuring (1957 - 1979)
