This house was constructed by Yi Jeongsu around 1780. It is sometimes called Geunam House or Chambong House because Yi's fifth generation descendant Yi Higu served as a public servant titled "Chambong," whose job was supervising the management of a royal tomb.
The house comprises an anchae (inner quarters), a sarangchae (outer quarters), and a gatehouse. While most of the large houses in this village are arranged in a square with a courtyard at the center, this one takes advantage of a more functional plan. The absence of round pillars in any part of the structure is evidence of the austerity of the builder. Although round pillars were technically forbidden in all but royal buildings, many yangban took advantage of lax enforcement of the law and used round pillars in their homes.
An ancestral shrine is located north of the anchae.
At present, the house is designated Geum-am House - 근암 고택
